Chapter 236: The Vanishing Luo Sanpao Yu Xiaogang's First Beast Martial Soul Possession
Pain. Unbearable pain.
Yu Xiaogang had just snapped his own left arm along the lines he had drawn, and the sheer agony nearly made him black out.
And this was all thanks to Tang San's brilliant planning.
Indeed, the markings Tang San provided were the least damaging to his body in terms of long term consequences. However, there was one critical detail Tang San had completely ignored or rather, never even considered.
The techniques he used were from the Tang Sect.
But these methods were typically employed against enemies for interrogation and torture, not for self inflicted injuries.
Thus, while the structural damage was minimized, the pain itself was amplified to an excruciating degree.
Glancing at the clock and realizing there were still thirty minutes before the scheduled house call, Yu Xiaogang suddenly had the overwhelming urge to slap himself.
Why the hell didn't I just wait until the healer knocked on the door before doing this?!
Those thirty minutes felt like an eternity, but Yu Xiaogang finally endured the agony long enough for the hired healing soul master to arrive.
The moment the door opened, Yu Xiaogang didn't bother with pleasantries he immediately explained the situation and handed over the prepared greenish bone fragments.
The soul master was confused, but considering that his client had already paid upfront and that the crest of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan was displayed at the entrance he wisely chose not to ask unnecessary questions and simply proceeded with the operation.
Of course, healing broken bones wasn't something these city soul masters did often.
Unlike the healers at the Great Soul Arena, who had plenty of experience treating battle injuries, these private practitioners rarely encountered such cases. After all, most wealthy clients preferred the convenience of healing techniques, while the poor couldn't afford their services at all.
Still, Yu Xiaogang had already endured the worst of the pain. Compared to the initial break, the process of replacing the bone and healing the wounds was merely a fleeting discomfort.
Despite the less than perfect bone alignment, the universal effectiveness of healing soul techniques allowed the wounds to close rapidly, and soon, the pain began to subside.
"All done," the healer stated flatly. "Be careful for the next few days. You should fully recover in about a week."
Having no intention of investigating how Yu Xiaogang's arm had been broken, the soul master left without another word.
Yu Xiaogang, thrilled, eagerly examined his left arm and soon, his face lit up with joy.
As expected, just like with his left leg, his soul power circulation had improved significantly!
Meanwhile, not far away, Tang San silently activated his Purple Demon Eyes.
Although he couldn't directly sense Yu Xiaogang's internal soul power flow, he could clearly see that the mysterious energy surrounding his teacher had increased once again.
At the same time, hidden even deeper in the shadows, Tang Hao watched in stunned silence.
After witnessing the entire process firsthand, his expression turned from doubt to sheer excitement.
Although he lacked Tang San's Purple Demon Eyes, he could feel the shift in Yu Xiaogang's presence his aura had strengthened.
More importantly, there was something else.
It was faint, but undeniable a trace of the same powerful presence he had once felt when Yu Yuanzhen, the former patriarch of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, activated his Beast Martial Soul Possession.
Could it be…?!
This "bone replacement" method actually works?!
Tang Hao had never cared about Yu Xiaogang, even back when they were young.
To him, Yu Xiaogang was nothing more than a pathetic joke the shame of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, a laughingstock among soul masters, and a complete waste of potential.
But now… he had to reevaluate everything.
This discovery if it truly worked could completely redefine the way soul masters pursued strength.
For the first time, Tang Hao seriously considered eliminating Yu Xiaogang and taking this secret for himself.
But then, his gaze fell upon Tang San, who was still hidden in the shadows, calmly observing the situation.
Tang Hao hesitated.
No… not yet.
Yu Xiaogang was still experimenting.
If he rushed to kill him now, he might miss out on valuable data.
Better to let him continue, let him perfect the process and then take everything for himself and his son.
Surely, Tang San was thinking the same thing.
Satisfied with his son's composure, Tang Hao smirked.
And so, the father and son pair each for their own reasons became Yu Xiaogang's unseen protectors, ensuring that nothing interfered with his "experiments."
The Days That Followed…
Completely unaware of his two silent guardians, Yu Xiaogang continued his self inflicted transformations.
Over the course of the next several days, he underwent two more surgeries until finally, all four of his limbs had been replaced with Beast Spirit Bones from the "Vegetable Dog."
And with each procedure, both Tang San and Tang Hao observed in awe as his presence grew stronger and stronger.
Meanwhile, Elsewhere…
After a long and arduous journey, Han Li finally arrived in Heaven Dou City.
As he gazed up at the massive stone gates, the words "Heaven Dou" carved into them, he couldn't help but smile.
"Looks like I made it just in time."
Today was the final day of Yu Xiaogang's bone replacement procedures.
But the reason he had rushed to arrive so soon wasn't just curiosity.
It was because, ever since he started observing, Yu Xiaogang's luck had been plummeting at an alarming rate like a leaking balloon losing air.
And that…
Was never a good sign.
Han Li had also noticed Yu Xiaogang's downright suicidal approach to bone replacement.
Ever since his Martial Soul's original balance had been disrupted, the Golden Sacred Dragon essence within him had been continuously leaking. But instead of finding a way to control it, his reckless cycle of bone replacements was like poking even more holes in a leaking water tank the drainage rate had increased exponentially.
Faced with this situation, Han Li had no choice but to speed up his return. He was genuinely worried that Yu Xiaogang would end up killing himself before he could get there.
Yu Xiaogang's death wasn't the issue the problem was that, without a living body to anchor it, the Golden Sacred Dragon essence would dissipate at an accelerated rate.
And since Han Li had already mentally claimed it as his, he refused to let it go to waste.
"You all go back and rest. I have some matters to attend to. I'll be back later."
Leaving this message to the women traveling with him, Han Li disappeared into the crowd, making his way toward Yu Xiaogang's residence.
Meanwhile, Tang San, having confirmed that Yu Xiaogang's aura had grown stronger once again, chose to leave.
Yes, he was returning to Heaven Dou Imperial Academy.
He had already confirmed everything he needed to know. Now, all that remained was to wait for Yu Xiaogang's next move because that decision would determine how Tang San treated him going forward.
After Tang San left, Tang Hao did not follow.
He had already guessed his son's intentions, but he also had something of his own to do.
At that moment, he appeared in front of a completely overjoyed Yu Xiaogang dragging behind him a recently knocked out Millennium Grass Dog.
"BANG!"
The heavy thud of the unconscious spirit beast landing on the ground immediately sent a chill down Yu Xiaogang's spine.
His heart sank.
He turned around abruptly only to see the terrifying figure of Tang Hao looming before him.
"Tang… Lord Haotian…"
Yu Xiaogang staggered back in fear, bumping into the table behind him. The sudden impact sent his teacup tumbling to the floor, where it shattered into pieces.
"Were you trying to hide from me?" Tang Hao's voice was cold and menacing. "Or are you just surprised that I found you?"
His black robe billowed in the night wind coming from the open doorway, making him seem even more intimidating the sheer pressure of his presence alone suffocating Yu Xiaogang.
"L Lord Haotian, please… let me explain "
Yu Xiaogang's legs nearly gave out beneath him. If not for his hands gripping the table behind him, he might have collapsed entirely.
He had no doubt that Tang Hao could crush his skull in an instant.
"I don't want to hear your excuses." Tang Hao's voice was impatient. "Right now, kill that spirit beast and absorb its spirit ring."
Yu Xiaogang froze.
It wasn't until that moment that he finally turned his attention to the beast on the ground.
A Grass Dog?
The very spirit beast that had been haunting his thoughts lately?
He immediately recognized it this was the soul ring he had planned for his third ring, something only written down in his research notes.
And then, his expression stiffened.
Tang Hao's actions made one thing painfully clear.
He had been watching him this entire time.
Not only that, but he even knew Yu Xiaogang's future plans.
That's MY research!
Yu Xiaogang was internally screaming in frustration, but he didn't dare let it show.
The fact that Tang Hao was still offering him a spirit ring meant he wasn't going to kill him just yet.
At least for now, his life was safe.
"Hurry up. I won't say it a third time."
Seeing Yu Xiaogang hesitating, Tang Hao's patience ran thin.
"O Okay, yes!"
Yu Xiaogang didn't dare resist.
He immediately pulled out a dagger, finished off the unconscious Grass Dog, and summoned Luo Sanpao.
As he activated his Martial Soul and reached out toward the faint purple spirit ring, something unexpected happened.
Neither of them noticed it at first, but Luo Sanpao was different.
Gone was its usual playful, sentient demeanor.
Now, it stood motionless, its eyes hollow and lifeless, as if it were an empty shell.
And then the unthinkable happened.
The moment Yu Xiaogang's Martial Soul made contact with the spirit ring, Luo Sanpao abruptly transformed into a green streak of light
and shot directly into Yu Xiaogang's body.
Neither Tang Hao nor Yu Xiaogang had time to react.
But the moment it happened, Yu Xiaogang felt something he had never experienced before.
For the first time ever his Beast Martial Soul actually enhanced his physical body.
His hands morphed into sharp claws.
His head sprouted two floppy ears.
His entire body grew rounder, his face and stomach bloating slightly.
This… is…?
Martial Soul Evolution?!
I… I can finally use Beast Martial Soul Possession?!
Both Yu Xiaogang and Tang Hao were momentarily stunned but then, simultaneously, their expressions turned into pure joy.
"Don't just stand there absorb the spirit ring!"
Tang Hao's voice held a rare hint of excitement.
To him, this was nothing short of a miracle.
Hearing this, Yu Xiaogang forced himself to suppress his excitement and focused on absorbing the spirit ring.
Above Them, High in the Sky…
A thousand meters above, Han Li his aura completely concealed watched the scene unfold.
His grin stretched so wide, it nearly twisted his face.
In his hand, he held a crystal clear, ice formed vial its surface glowing faintly with golden light.
Inside, a small, radiant white orb pulsed with energy, faintly resembling the shape of a dragon.
This… was the essence of the Golden Sacred Dragon Martial Soul.
Han Li had gathered every last drop of it.
"A Sacred Dragon walks an unrivaled path why borrow the bones of lesser beasts?"
"Thus speaks Han Li, the Seven Star Soul Saint."
Amused, he sealed the vial shut and turned away.
Tang Hao's Grass Dog spirit ring had inadvertently secured Yu Xiaogang's life saving Han Li the trouble of finishing the job himself.
Though, with his Martial Soul completely transformed…
Yu Xiaogang would have to come to terms with it eventually.
But no worries.
Han Li was confident that Yu Xiaogang would accept it.
After all, in his eyes, this was a blessing.
