Chapter 29 - chapter 29 Love in the shadows

Hearing this, a subtle change flickered in Victor's eyes — a mixture of irritation and suspicion. He sensed that Viki knew more than he did, which only made him more annoyed.

Alia was preparing to get into the car, and Victor stood beside her. Yet his attention was fixed on Viki. He knew how important Viki had become in Alia's life. The jealousy inside Victor grew more intense, thinking, "What I couldn't make her understand all this time, how did Viki manage to?"

Thus, that discomfort, suspicion, and jealousy worked like an invisible force inside Victor, confronting him with a new question — where was Alia headed in his world now?

Suddenly, Victor forcefully pulled Alia out of the car. Alia looked at him, stunned, unable to believe what was happening for a moment. The intense anger and frustration in Victor's eyes was completely unfamiliar to her.

"Victor, what are you doing?" Alia asked, her voice filled with surprise and unease.

Victor gripped her hand tightly and said, "I can't take it anymore, Alia. You keep doing everything your way, but I don't want to lose you." His voice carried no apology or remorse — only a firm resolve.

Alia tried to free her hand, but Victor's strength was unexpected. His eyes held a terrifying intensity. "Victor, do you even know what you're doing? Let me go!" Alia said, her voice now firmer.

Victor stood there, somewhat stunned, but his expression didn't change. "I know, Alia. But I can't let you walk away alone."

A fierce anger blazed in Alia's eyes, and she took a stronger step to push him away. "Victor, if you stand in my way, I won't leave any room for you. You don't know how much I've changed."

Victor stepped back slightly from holding her tightly and paused for a moment. His eyes revealed a strange conflict. He knew a dangerous power had awakened inside Alia, but he didn't want to lose himself so completely.

For a moment, Alia took a breath and looked down at her feet, as if trying to steady herself. Her anger and resentment toward Victor remained, but she knew what she would do next would decide her future.

Victor began to realize his mistake, but for a while, hesitation and despair swirled inside him. "I want what's best for you, Alia. But I know everything between us is going to change now."

With deep determination in her eyes, Alia said, "You won't be able to do anything to me anymore, Victor. I know, someday, it will all be over for you."

Victor forcefully took Alia to a room in a five-star hotel, his eyes burning with fierce determination, as if he wanted to stop her at any cost. The door closed behind them, and Alia stared steadily at Victor, her eyes filled with a deep detachment, as if she knew no matter how hard Victor tried, he couldn't stop her.

Without saying a word, Victor tried to restrain her, but Alia had become a completely different person now. Suddenly, she leaned toward Victor and pinned him against the wall. Victor was momentarily stunned, as if he had not been prepared for this sight.

In a cold voice, Alia said, "You won't stop me anymore, Victor. I am the only one who decides my path." There was an unusual firmness in her eyes, as if she knew the fire of revenge burning inside her could no longer be hindered by anything.

Victor realized that Alia had changed completely, and he could no longer find the old Alia he once knew. His eyes showed despair, but Alia stood before him like a dark force. He knew that at this moment, Alia would not turn back; she had done what she had to and would continue on her aggressive path.

"You know, I won't come back, Victor," Alia said with no doubt or hesitation in her voice. "Now, my only goal is revenge."

Victor was left speechless. A strange feeling trembled in his heart—on one side his love, on the other Alia's strength and indomitable resolve. And he realized, this path of hers would one day make him lose her.

Victor took a deep breath and looked at Alia, stunned. "Alia, have you forgotten? We are husband and wife. You can't talk to me like this."

But Alia did not respond, only stared coldly. Her eyes held a strange detachment, as if she no longer cared about any relationship with Victor. Her attitude was clear—she no longer wanted to be bound by that life or relationship.

"Victor," Alia said with a slight smile, "our relationship means nothing now. Do you really think I'm still your wife whom you can make understand?" Her voice was icy, as if she had changed completely.

Victor felt a deep despair. His eyes seemed empty, knowing he could never bring back the old Alia. "But Alia, I love you."

Alia simply smiled briefly, her eyes filled with strong confidence. "Love? I'm a different person now, Victor. I will never return to your love."

And so, Alia moved forward on her own path, while Victor stood watching her, unable to comprehend—there was no longer that old Alia inside her.

Then, a softness flickered briefly in Alia's eyes. Her hard and firm inner strength weakened for a moment. She fell silent and slowly began to cry, unable to hold back the tears.

Victor stood there, surprised, feeling a little tenderness return to his heart. He understood that no matter what path Alia took now, there was deep pain and despair hidden inside her.

"Alia..." Victor stepped closer and placed his hand on her shoulder. His voice trembled slightly, as if unsure how to handle the situation. "Do you realize I've always been by your side? I never let you be alone."

Alia was silent for a moment, then in a shaky voice replied, "You were always there, Victor, but you never tried to understand me. My pain, my suffering—you never saw it."

Tears streamed down her cheeks one after another, and the fiery determination inside her...
