Chapter 373: The Girl
Following Bei Bei's directions, Huo Yuhao quickly arrived at the dormitory building.
At the entrance sat an old man dressed in simple gray robes. His face was deeply wrinkled so much so that it seemed like he could trap a dozen flies between the creases. His eyes were dull and half lidded, giving him the appearance of a man at the end of his days. The sunlight filtering through the buildings bathed him in a warm glow as he reclined lazily in his chair, looking rather comfortable.
Huo Yuhao stepped forward respectfully and greeted him, "Hello, Grandpa. I'm a new student here to check into the dormitory. Do you need to inspect my new student badge?"
Without lifting his head, the elderly man stretched out a trembling right hand and rasped in a hoarse voice, "Let me see your badge and dormitory key."
Huo Yuhao quickly handed them over.
The old man glanced at them briefly before returning them. "Go on. Room 108 is on the first floor, third door on the left. Starting from the fourth floor, it's the girls' dormitory. If you're caught up there, you'll be expelled immediately."
"Thank you." Huo Yuhao bowed once again before entering the dormitory.
The old man remained motionless in his seat, muttering to himself, "It's rare to see such a polite child."
As he spoke, several other new students passed by, none of whom even glanced at him before heading inside.
Yet, the old man made no effort to stop them merely sitting there, drowsy as ever.
At that moment, Elder Ye's voice echoed in Huo Yuhao's mind:
"Yuhao, you should pay close attention to that man."
'That old grandpa? Why?' Huo Yuhao kept his expression neutral but inwardly questioned in surprise.
"He's no ordinary elder. Based on my observations, he's at the level of an Ultimate Douluo one of the rarest and strongest soul masters in your world."
'What?!'
Huo Yuhao's eyes widened in shock.
An Ultimate Douluo?!
In this age, where gods no longer roamed, Ultimate Douluos were the peak of power, revered as the deities of the soul master world.
No wonder he was stunned.
Who would have thought that a legendary powerhouse was sitting here, posing as nothing more than a frail, sickly old man guarding the dormitory?
After a moment of amazement, Huo Yuhao put the matter aside.
It had nothing to do with him anyway.
So what if the old man was strong?
It wasn't like he was going to take him as a disciple or be his personal backer.
Since it didn't affect him, Huo Yuhao simply didn't care.
The dormitory was a long hallway with rooms on both sides. Each door bore a numbered plaque.
Upon unlocking his assigned room, a wave of stale, musty air greeted him it was clear this room had been vacant for months, its surfaces coated in a layer of dust.
Holding his breath, he rushed inside, opened the windows, and let fresh air in.
The dormitory was small, about ten square meters, with two beds taking up most of the space. The room contained only a desk, two metal wardrobes, and a single ceiling light.
After airing it out, Huo Yuhao took a deep breath, nodding in satisfaction.
This would be his home for the next year.
Judging by the two beds, he would have a roommate.
First things first cleaning.
Having grown up in poverty despite being born into a noble family, Huo Yuhao had long since become self sufficient.
He quickly grabbed a rag and got to work.
After thoroughly scrubbing the place, he activated his Spirit Eyes, scanning for any hidden dust or dirt. Only once he confirmed everything was spotless did he stop, feeling fully satisfied.
Despite its simplicity, the room now had a fresh and clean atmosphere.
Huo Yuhao didn't plan on buying bedding the wooden bed was good enough for him.
Not long after, his stomach rumbled.
After asking around, he found the cafeteria's location and stopped by the student supply store to buy the cheapest meal container before heading in.
Each grade had its own cafeteria, located behind the dormitories.
Upon entering the first year cafeteria, he was shocked by the food prices.
Some meals were priced in gold soul coins!
Realizing he couldn't afford the fancy food, Huo Yuhao settled for the cheapest option stir fried vegetables and white rice.
After finishing his meal quickly, he returned to his dormitory.
Since he was already behind his peers, he couldn't afford to waste time.
Sitting cross legged, Huo Yuhao entered meditation and began cultivating Innate Art.
Ever since Elder Ye had gifted him this divine technique, he could feel himself changing every single day.
His meridians expanded, his body grew stronger, and his innate talent improved with each passing moment.
With each day of training, these enhancements became more and more visible.
It was undeniable this was a technique beyond value.
From the bottom of his heart, Huo Yuhao was deeply grateful to Elder Ye.
Some time later, the sound of a key turning in the lock snapped him out of deep meditation.
His eyes opened just as the dormitory door swung open.
A youth entered.
Huo Yuhao immediately noticed that this young man had an incredibly delicate appearance.
His skin was fair, his facial features sharp and elegant, and his big eyes were a rare mix of soft pink and blue hues.
Even his short, neatly cut hair was the same color.
Honestly, this was the most beautiful boy Huo Yuhao had ever seen even more striking than Bei Bei.
"You are…?" he asked instinctively.
The newcomer ignored the question, first scanning the dormitory.
After noticing how clean it was, his expression showed displeasure as if he still wasn't satisfied.
Only then did he finally turn his gaze to Huo Yuhao.
In an arrogant, condescending tone, he declared, "Since you cleaned the room well, I'll allow you to stay here for now.
But there are rules.
First, no bringing people into the room without permission.
Second, don't walk around shirtless it's annoying.
Third, no snoring when you sleep.
Fourth, don't bother me.
Fifth, you're in charge of keeping the dorm clean, but don't touch my bed.
Got it?"
Huo Yuhao's expression instantly darkened.
Who the hell did this guy think he was?
Anyone would be annoyed if a random stranger suddenly showed up and started barking orders like a superior officer.
His voice grew cold. "Why should I listen to you?"
The youth snorted disdainfully. "If you don't, I'll kick you out. Try me."
Having suffered a lifetime of oppression in the Duke's Mansion, Huo Yuhao hated people who acted high and mighty.
His tone turned icy. "Fine. Let's settle this outside."
Seeing how unfazed Huo Yuhao was, the youth smirked mockingly, his eyes filled with amusement and scorn.
That smug expression only fueled Huo Yuhao's anger.
Good. He would teach this arrogant brat a lesson.
But just then, Elder Ye's voice echoed in his mind.
"Oh? This girl…"
Huo Yuhao froze.
"Girl?"
"Elder Ye, are you saying this person… is actually a girl?!"
If this person was a girl disguised as a boy, then all those strict dorm rules suddenly made a lot more sense…
