Chapter 241: Master Xuanji
"This so called 'mobile phone' soul tool is clearly standard equipment for all students. More importantly, this device is obviously newly made and not some ancient relic." Yu Xiaogang studied the phone in Oscar's hands before suddenly asking, "Do you realize what this means?"
"You're saying… White Cloud City has mastered the art of soul tool manufacturing?" Flender immediately caught on.
"But I thought the knowledge of making soul tools was lost ages ago? Where could they have possibly found the method?" Zhao Wuji asked, puzzled.
"Perhaps… it all ties back to a certain individual." Yu Xiaogang's words made the others react at once.
"In other words Master Xuanji!"
Over the past three years, the future vision videos had repeatedly shown the rise of soul tool technology, seamlessly integrated into daily life. One name appeared more than any other Xuanji!
From scattered dialogues in the videos, they deduced that Master Xuanji had mastered the lost knowledge of soul tool crafting and would eventually revolutionize its use.
Back in those videos, soul tools had reached unbelievable heights, capable of wonders beyond imagination.
However, little was revealed about Xuanji's origins. It was never stated whether he was born in the far future or if he already existed in the present.
Eager to uncover this mystery, various factions had dispatched spies to gather information. The result? Nothing.
Thus, they assumed Master Xuanji was yet to be born, potentially appearing hundreds of years into the future.
After all, how could you find someone who doesn't exist yet?
But now seeing White Cloud City's advancements, it was clear their assumption had been dead wrong.
Master Xuanji was not from the distant future he was alive today!
They simply failed to find him because he had been lying low, dedicating himself to research.
And now, he was working for White Cloud City, leading a technological renaissance.
The citywide network, modernized soul tools, and even these personal mobile devices all were undoubtedly the work of Master Xuanji!
No One Dares to Steal
Even after uncovering this, the various factions could only watch in frustration.
There was no way to steal Master Xuanji away.
Why?
Because White Cloud City had a God!
Who in their right mind would provoke a deity?
The future vision videos had shown God level battles, proving beyond doubt that anyone below a God stood no chance.
Even ten Ultimate Douluo combined wouldn't be able to stand against a God's might.
A single burst of divine pressure was enough to crush ordinary Soul Masters into submission.
How do you fight something like that?
You don't.
Of course, if they could gather hundreds of Ultimate Douluo, they might stand a fighting chance. Maybe a coordinated suicidal explosion could even wound a God perhaps even kill one.
But let's be real.
Right now, on the entire Douluo Continent, even finding a few Ultimate Douluo was a challenge, let alone hundreds.
The idea of sacrificing them just to gamble against a God was laughable.
Thus White Cloud City was untouchable.
Not only did it house the strongest being alive, but it also held the key to becoming Gods.
The Path to Godhood
The Condensation Ring Method was widely regarded as the future of Soul Masters.
For the first time, one could reach Godhood without needing divine favor relying solely on personal talent and effort.
Every Soul Master on the continent desperately wanted access to this knowledge.
Some were willing to risk everything, knowing full well that if caught, they'd face divine wrath.
But the temptation was too great.
So great that they didn't care.
Even Shrek Academy was one of these risk takers.
They knew that if they stole the method, White Cloud City would retaliate.
But their reasoning was simple "They can't punish everyone."
After all, they weren't the only ones trying to steal it.
Many top tier factions, including Spirit Hall and the Upper Three Sects, were after the same prize.
If White Cloud City wanted revenge, they would surely go after the bigger factions first.
And Shrek?
A tiny academy wouldn't even be worth their attention.
Holding onto this reckless logic, Flender decided to gamble everything traveling to White Cloud City to try and sneak their way in.
Shrek's Last Hope
"Oscar, once you get into White Cloud Academy, focus on learning everything you can." Flender grinned deviously, clapping Oscar's shoulder.
"The future of Shrek Academy depends on you!"
Oscar nodded firmly.
"I won't let you down, Headmaster!"
But something felt off.
Deep down, he couldn't shake a sense of unease.
It was as if… he was doing something terribly wrong.
His conscience wasn't completely dead yet.
Though Shrek had shaped his beliefs, a part of him still recognized how unethical their mission was.
But Flender was like a father to him.
And Shrek Academy was his home.
When Oscar was only four or five years old, his parents had died in an accident. Before passing, they entrusted him to Flender's care.
Though they weren't related by blood, Flender had been more of a father than anyone else.
Shrek was his family.
So even if he knew their plan was morally questionable,
Even if it meant betraying his own principles…
When he saw the hopeful look in Flender's eyes…
Oscar made his choice.
He would steal the Condensation Ring Method.
To repay Flender's kindness.
The Fool's Dream
But did Oscar really think he could succeed?
Did any of them?
Did they seriously believe they could steal knowledge from a God?
If White Cloud Academy dared to open its doors to outsiders,
And if its founder welcomed everyone without fear…
It only meant one thing
They were already prepared.
Trying to steal secrets from a divine fortress was nothing but a fool's dream.
