Chapter 233: Official Enrollment Begins.
Ten days passed in the blink of an eye.
By this time, a massive wave of applicants had flooded into White Cloud City. Most of them were under 30 years old, with an innate soul power of at least rank 7. Of course, there were also some individuals who believed their martial souls were exceptional and worth cultivating, so they had come to try their luck.
On the day White Cloud Academy officially opened its enrollment, the area outside its grand, traditional style entrance gate, with curved eaves and ornate architecture, was already packed with thousands of people.
There were so many applicants, but not because there were truly that many geniuses. Most of them were just hopefuls gambling on a slim chance, thinking that maybe the examiners would overlook their flaws and let them in.
The ones who were genuinely confident in their abilities were few in number, quietly waiting among the crowd for the academy gates to open.
With thousands of people gathered, the scene was inevitably a bit chaotic.
However, as soon as the academy gates began to open, a hushed silence fell over the crowd. All eyes were fixed on the slowly widening doors.
A group of several dozen people emerged from inside.
Both men and women, they all wore the same blue uniforms with white cloud embroidery, except for slight differences in attire between male (pants) and female (skirts).
Clearly, this was the official attire of White Cloud Academy.
The applicants whispered among themselves, wondering if these were teachers, students, or administrative staff.
The academy grounds were vast, with an open plaza just outside the main gate. Even with thousands of people gathered, the area still felt spacious.
As the uniformed staff stepped out, they raised their hands, and several long tables and chairs materialized out of thin air. Each table had a sign labeled "Enrollment Testing Station."
At this moment, everyone understood these people were the examiners in charge of the screening process!
With dozens of tables lined up, the staff sat down, and one of them called out loudly,
"All applicants, form orderly lines! One by one! No cutting in line, or your registration will be revoked!"
Hearing this, the crowd erupted into a brief moment of chaos before quickly settling down.
People rushed to line up, and soon, each testing station had a long queue stretching in front of it.
Fortunately, the plaza was large enough to accommodate these long lines.
The First Test: Innate Soul Power & Age Verification
Getting into White Cloud Academy wasn't as simple as just signing up. The first test involved:
Measuring innate soul powerVerifying age (to prevent fraud or impersonation)
At each testing table, the staff had only two tools a crystal orb and a strange looking flat device with a handprint imprint.
Curious applicants stared at these devices in confusion.
Seeing their doubt, one examiner explained,
**"This crystal orb is a specialized soul device that measures both your innate soul power and current soul power level. The handprint scanner is another soul device that can accurately determine your true age.
White Cloud City has long abandoned the outdated 'bone examination' method for checking age. Some individuals have unique body constitutions or martial soul influences that make traditional methods unreliable. Our soul devices ensure 100% accuracy."
Hearing this, many applicants were skeptical.
Most traditional soul power tests only measured current soul power, not innate soul power, so people had to be tested right after awakening their martial souls for accurate results.
A tool that could directly measure innate soul power at any stage?
They had never heard of such a thing.
One of the applicants, still doubtful, placed his hand on the crystal orb.
"HUMMM!"
A soft hum resonated as the crystal orb glowed.
Then, from the base of the device, a mechanical voice spoke:
[Innate Soul Power: Rank 7. Current Soul Power: Rank 32. Overall Evaluation: Average.]
The applicant's expression instantly changed.
He stared in shock and exclaimed, "It actually works! It really detected my innate soul power! I've never seen a soul device like this before!"
The examiner smiled and nodded. "Your innate soul power meets the entry requirements. Next, we check your age. Place your hand on the handprint scanner."
The applicant complied.
The handprint device emitted a faint red glow, followed by another mechanical voice:
[Age: 29 years, 8 months. Current Soul Power: Rank 32. Overall Evaluation: Average.]
After hearing the result, the applicant's expression darkened slightly.
That "Average" evaluation had hurt his pride.
Back in his small kingdom, he was considered a top tier genius but here, he was just "average"?!
The examiner, unfazed, continued, "Alright, you meet the enrollment requirements."
He then pulled out a small, rectangular device, aimed it at the applicant, and took a quick photo before asking, "State your name, gender, and current residence."
The applicant hesitated briefly before answering, "Gervas, male. Staying at the Holiday Hotel in White Cloud City."
Since he was from another region, he had been staying in a hotel during the enrollment period.
The examiner tapped a few buttons on his device screen, then said, **"Alright, your information has been recorded. However, this is only the preliminary registration.
To officially enter White Cloud Academy, you must pass additional exams.
Registration lasts for seven days. Once it's over, all preliminary applicants will receive notifications about the next phase of testing.
So, make sure your listed residence is accurate if you miss the notification, you will forfeit your chance."**
After relaying the necessary information, the examiner called out, "Next!"
The first applicant stepped aside as the next person in line approached.
Since many had been close enough to overhear the instructions, they didn't need the examiner to repeat them.
The second applicant immediately placed their hand on the crystal orb.
The orb glowed once again.
"HUMMM!"
The mechanical voice announced:
[Innate Soul Power: Rank 7. Current Soul Power: Rank 36. Overall Evaluation: Poor.]
Hearing this, the second applicant's face darkened even further.
Not only did he receive the same "Rank 7" as the first guy, but his evaluation was even worse "Poor"!
Unwilling to accept this, he hurriedly pressed his hand onto the age scanner…
