"Naruto...?!" exclaimed Reika, confused to see Naruto leaving without barely looking at her.

Minato turned toward her with a small, awkward smile.

"Naruto is very busy right now. Don't take it personally..."

Reika nodded, still confused, but quickly accepting his words. After all, the village was still under attack.

"For someone so young, you're the fastest kunoichi I've ever met..." Minato looked at her seriously. "...help me get all these people to safety."

They both looked toward the stadium stands, where a sea of civilians lay asleep because of the Genjutsu that had been used on them.

The ninjas who hadn't gone to fight the Sand and Sound ninjas were helping evacuate the affected.

Among them, Kushina Uzumaki stood out, using her Adamantine Sealing Chains to carry several people at once. At her side, Karin supported her as best as she could.

Minato smiled and disappeared in a yellow flash, reappearing beside his wife to help her.

Reika, for her part, activated her Lightning Element Chakra Mode and quickly joined the evacuation effort.

However, it wasn't long before a pink-haired girl ran toward her, her face full of worry and fear.

Upon seeing her, Reika clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"And here I thought for a moment the Genjutsu had done us all a favor..."

...

Inside the barrier, Orochimaru let out a soft chuckle as he held his kunai close to his former master's neck.

Hiruzen remained silent, watching with a mixture of sadness and pity the one who had once been his student.

The kunai in Orochimaru's hand trembled slightly, and his eyes filled with tears.

Surprised, Hiruzen stared at him.

"Are you so happy that your tears betray you? Or do you still have enough of a heart to feel sorrow for having to kill your master?"

Orochimaru brought the kunai closer to Hiruzen's neck, but instead of stabbing him, he plunged the blade into the palm of his own hand.

Blood began to drip slowly to the ground as Hiruzen frowned, puzzled.

Suddenly Orochimaru wiped away his tears with an almost careless gesture and yawned.

"Not at all. I'm just a little sleepy... But don't worry, Sarutobi-Sensei, I'm fully awake now."

Hiruzen smiled, amused by the strange excuse, imagining he would've said something similar.

"Why are you doing this, Orochimaru?" he asked, while his student turned his back and walked a few steps away, calmly.

Hiruzen hoped that, by understanding his motives, he could convince him to abandon this madness.

Although deep down, he knew it wouldn't be that easy.

He had let his student escape once before, unable to kill him.

But the day had come: one of the two would die at the hands of the other. There was no turning back, no possible solution.

And neither believed it would be them.

"Kekeke... still as soft and sentimental as ever, Sarutobi-sensei," Orochimaru mocked. "Can't you accept that I simply want to see you dead?"

Hiruzen frowned, firm in his conviction.

"No," he replied confidently. "You gain nothing by killing me. That's why I know that's not the real reason for all this."

Orochimaru shook his head, amused.

"I'm not the only one who wants you dead, it seems..." he murmured, with a small smile.

Orochimaru remembered Naruto Uzumaki, when they met in the Forest of Death.

Suddenly his gaze landed on the stadium stands, where he found Reika Uchiha.

Orochimaru frowned slightly.

"Tempting... but not enough... Not while Shisui Uchiha is around."

Orochimaru's gaze shifted slightly, meeting Shisui's.

He couldn't help but lick his lips, tempted to try his luck.

"It's not the Edo Tensei... So how...?" his body began to tremble with curiosity.

Immortality was within his reach, but he didn't know how to grasp it.

The dead had returned, a perfect resurrection, if his eyes weren't deceiving him.

So how? How had Naruto achieved what he couldn't after so many years of research?

Orochimaru's eyes shone with insatiable curiosity.

Meanwhile, Hiruzen frowned at hearing he wasn't the only one who desired his death.

Names and faces flashed through his mind: many had sought his end throughout his long life, but all had failed.

This time would be no different.

...

"Danzō-sama, Orochimaru and the Hokage are currently fighting. Should we intervene to assist him?"

Danzō stopped when one of his men appeared before him, kneeling, informing him of what was happening in the village.

"Let it be."

Danzō wasn't even interested in knowing Hiruzen was fighting Orochimaru.

"Let's hope that, for once, Orochimaru achieves his goal," he murmured, referring to Hiruzen's death.

Orochimaru's attack on Konoha represented the perfect opportunity to replace the Third Hokage. After his death, only Danzō would be fit to become the Fifth Hokage. That's why Danzō would do nothing. He would remain on the sidelines, in silence.

Why intervene, if he was benefiting from the attack?

"Well, shit, I figured."

Danzō frowned upon hearing those words.

In front of him, the same ninja who had come to inform him was suddenly surrounded by a dense cloud of smoke. When it dissipated, Danzō observed him carefully.

A blonde-haired teenager appeared before him.

"The Kyūbi's Jinchūriki...?" he murmured, confused.

In front of him stood a young man with golden hair, intense blue eyes, and three whisker marks on each cheek. He wore a white shirt and black pants, with brown ninja sandals. Over his shirt, he wore a black cloak, and at his waist hung a Chokutō and a Tantō: the White Light Chakra Sabre.

Danzō noticed that the brat had left behind his typical bright orange attire.

"I have a name," said Naruto, standing up from the ground, where he had pretended to be one of Danzō's men.

Naruto looked at him steadily, calmly, and naturally rested his hand on his Chokutō.

"It wasn't as hard as I expected to infiltrate ROOT," he commented while curiously observing his surroundings.

Danzō frowned... but then smiled slightly.

"Thank you for coming to me, Naruto Uzumaki. You saved me the trouble of looking for you."

Danzō had already planned to capture the Kyūbi's Jinchūriki once he became Hokage after Hiruzen's fall. And now that Naruto was in front of him, he wasn't going to miss the opportunity.

Slowly, he raised his hand to his right eye, hidden under a bandage. As he removed it, Naruto clearly saw Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan.

The Mangekyō Sharingan glowed intensely for a moment.

Danzō smiled, satisfied, as if he had already won.

For many years, he had begged Hiruzen to hand over the Jinchūriki to make him the village's greatest weapon, but Hiruzen had always refused, reminding him that Naruto was the son of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze.

Hiruzen had never been willing to hand him over, knowing Danzō would turn him into just another puppet.

Now, what Hiruzen had tried to prevent was happening.

He also clearly remembered how Naruto had scorned him the day they met in Hiruzen's office.

Danzō kept smiling... until his expression froze.

"Did you really think that would work...?" Naruto asked, looking at him with genuine confusion.

Naruto activated his Sharingan.

First, his three-tomoe Sharingan spun rapidly, transforming into Madara Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan.

Then, it became the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, the fusion of Madara and Izuna's Mangekyō Sharingan.

But it didn't end there.

The pattern in his eyes continued spinning, taking on a completely new and unique form.

It was still an Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, but now it was the fusion of the Mangekyō Sharingan of Madara, Izuna, Fugaku, and Shisui.

Naruto had full access to all the techniques of their respective Mangekyō Sharingan.

And as a user of Kotoamatsukami, he couldn't be affected by his own technique.

"You're a truly pathetic existence..." Naruto said to him, before vanishing before his eyes.

Danzō blinked in confusion, and then Naruto appeared right in front of him, with his Tantō unsheathed just inches from his right eye.

With no time to react, Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan was destroyed.

Danzō grunted as his eye was stabbed. He tried to strike Naruto, but Naruto easily jumped back, dodging the attack.

Danzō watched him with a grimace of pain, one hand covering his right eye.

"Why didn't it affect you...? That's impossible! Kotoamatsukami is supposed to be the ultimate Genjutsu! You should be under my control!"

Naruto lowered his head, closed his eyes, and shook it with a calm smile.

"How sad it must be to live knowing that even with stolen powers, you're still a failure."
