Chapter 62 - The Confession

Jack's POV

Katherine was mad. And I didn't blame her. I would be mad if I were in her shoes as well. I let out a groan as I rubbed at my face, hoping I could wipe off the bad events of the night as I did that.

After mingling with a couple of guests for a few minutes, I was ready to call it a night. I was done with the stares and side talks knowing they were all about me and my wife.

"I want to go home." Katherine muttered beside me, her gaze fixed on a passing bartender.

I knew she wasn't itching for a drink but only needed something to focus on so she wouldn't have to look at me. I ignored the strange sensation in my chest, making my heart tight with pain.

It had never been a big deal to me if someone ignored me. Why did I hate Katherine's act at the moment?

I reminded myself that I only felt that way because we were putting a front in public and my head was being forced to think of myself as her husband.
