"Don't cry. You are allowed to come to me whenever it rains," he said, trying to appease her. But his tender words only brought more tears to Evenly's eyes as her heart warmed up to him all over again instead of hardening.
Wouldn't she be called foolish for letting herself fall for another man after all she had been through? But how could a man be so gentle, so opposite from the one who had hurt her before? His touch on her cheeks was so delicate, so kind, that it brought even more tears to her eyes.
Rav noticed the tears flowing even more the longer he wiped them, and he grew restless and unsure, not knowing what he was doing wrong to make her cry harder. He used his hand to lift her chin so she would look at him, but she stubbornly kept it down until he raised it with a little more firmness.
Her eyes were filled with tears that tugged painfully at his chest. "What's wrong?" he asked softly, and she shook her head, saying nothing for awhile.
