There was no trace of him.
The scene they had expected Wu Tian standing at the edge, absorbing energy never happened.

The first few layers of the seal shattered instantly, as fragile as paper.

At the very peak of the tower, a thin, black energy shield flickered into existence.
Though it looked weak
Barely thicker than a finger
It completely halted the magma's advance.
The elders breathed a collective sigh of relief.
If even the final barrier had failed
Jia Nan Academy would be doomed.
If the Sky Blazing Qi Refining Tower lost control of the Fallen Heart Flame, the Black Corner Region would swarm this place like locusts.
Even if that guardian spirit didn't show up
Just Han Feng and a handful of Dou Kings would be enough to destroy everything.

The magma fell back down, lowering to several levels below.

The elders' hearts clenched.

The flaming lotus shot straight toward the black barrier.

And began to recede.
The lotus followed, sinking back into the depths.

The older elders clutched their chests, trying to steady their hearts.
They were too old for this kind of stress.
They all turned to Su Qian, their expressions filled with questions.
"Grand Elder… what was that?"
Su Qian looked awkward.
"Hell if I know!"
How was he supposed to explain this?!

To maintain his dignity, he pointed at the abyss below and spoke with wisdom.
"This must have something to do with Wu Tian."
"Stay alert he might return soon."
Meanwhile, Outside the Academy
A group of powerful figures flew toward the Sky Blazing Qi Refining Tower.
They weren't enemies
They were the returning Outer Academy elders.
Leading them was Hu Qian, the Outer Academy's Headmaster
A peak Dou King.
Behind him were several Dou Kings and countless Dou Lords.
Jia Nan Academy's true power was now on full display.
"So many strong fighters…"
The students watching were in awe.
If this was just the Outer Academy's power
Then how strong was the Inner Academy's hidden force?

"Grand Elder, we'll maintain the barrier."
"You focus on sealing the source."

With Hu Qian's reinforcements, his burden lessened significantly.

He miscalculated the force
And his face turned red as he absorbed some of Su Qian's energy by mistake.

With the Outer Academy taking over defense, the Inner Academy elders could finally focus on strengthening the seal.
Su Qian floated above the abyss, his voice booming
"Inner Academy Elders and Instructors begin the sealing formation!"
A dozen elders soared into the air, pouring their Dou Qi into the formation.
As for Wu Tian?
Of course they hadn't forgotten him.
If he returned on his own, they would "open the door" for him.
But if he didn't come back…
Well
One person wasn't more important than the entire Inner Academy.
Wu Tian: "…Wow. That's cold."
But he wasn't upset.
Inside the magma abyss, he smirked.
Everything had gone exactly as planned.
If he had just jumped in normally, they would have been suspicious.

He created a grand spectacle, making them believe it was a new terrifying flame.

With them focused on sealing the tower…
Wu Tian grinned, gazing deeper into the abyss.
"I'm coming for you, Fallen Heart Flame."
