Carol Danvers had always believed that the human mind could create unbelievable miracles. She was human, after all. Although she hadn't been to Earth in a long time, she still remembered her identity as an Earthling.
Humanity had become the dominant species on this planet because of their minds—the very source of those unbelievable miracles.

"What makes you so confident?" Gamora asked, her curiosity piqued. She wondered who had given Carol the courage to be so arrogant as to claim she could find a miracle to defeat Thanos. "You couldn't even beat Thanos's son."
"Those smart humans," Carol said, pushing a stray strand of hair from her face and holding up her pager.
Thirty minutes later, the rebuilding workers in New York City were still sweating under the lash of capitalism, but the corner where Carol and Gamora stood was perfectly quiet.
"Hang on, he might be busy. You know, he's the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he's probably swamped. It's normal for him to be a little overwhelmed," Carol said, leaning against the wall, trying to find an excuse.
An hour later, Carol was waiting with her hands on her hips.
Two hours later...
"So where are those smart humans of yours?" Gamora asked, leaning against the cold wall and enjoying Carol's awkward glances at the sky.
"Okay, I admit, this is unexpected." Carol discreetly put away her pager. "Maybe something happened at S.H.I.E.L.D." she said, giving the most logical reason for Nick Fury's silence.
Gamora scoffed and shook her head, her sarcastic smirk making Carol uncomfortable.
"Wait, where are you going?" Carol reached out as Gamora turned to leave.
"Running."
"Running to a place Thanos can't find," Gamora said without looking back.
She wouldn't go to any galaxy Thanos had already reached or was about to reach until she was absolutely certain she could kill him.
She was tired of the slaughter and hated the faces that flashed in her mind every time she woke up in the middle of the night.
She didn't know if she would succeed, but she wanted to try. She didn't want to live in fear and in the shadows anymore. She just didn't.
"You're scared."
"Yes, I am," Gamora replied honestly. "I understand Thanos better than you do, better than any of the smart humans you know. Because of knowledge comes fear."
With one last meaningful look, Gamora vanished around the corner.
"What on Earth happened to S.H.I.E.L.D.?" With her attempt at recruitment a failure, Carol had no choice but to start looking for the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.
But... when she arrived at the location she remembered, she found nothing in the sky but blue clouds. Where was the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier? Where was that massive carrier?! Carol looked around the empty sky, a deep sense of confusion taking hold.
At the same time, an orange magical circle suddenly appeared in front of Gamora, who was about to leave Earth on her own. It was a man's height.
"Who's there?!" Gamora said, her hand instantly on a dagger she'd pulled from who knows where, pointing it at the mysterious man emerging from the red portal.
"My name is Stephen Strange. As you can see, I'm a sorcerer," Strange said with a big smile, looking at the alien woman.
Swoosh!
Before Gamora could react, her feet left the ground. She felt as though she had been dragged into a dimensional tunnel, and the intense feeling of weightlessness made her lose control of her body. When she regained control, four people had appeared in front of her.
No, make that three people and one soul.
"Wait, who is she?" Bruce Banner, unable to understand what Strange had done, pointed at Gamora and looked back at the Sorcerer. "How did you...?"
"She's Thanos's daughter. I don't know her name, I can't see it," Strange said, his simple introduction causing Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Pepper Potts to look at Gamora with immediate caution.
"Who are you?!" Gamora threw her dagger at Strange, but it vanished into a sudden orange magical circle that appeared in front of him.
"I am the Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange, and I need you to contact Thanos for me."
"No, that's impossible," Gamora said, shaking her head. This was a death sentence.
"Only you can do this. I can't contact him, so I need you to do it for me!" Strange said, his voice grave. "Be quick! Or this universe will be destroyed!"
Stephen Strange's words were so serious they made Gamora's heart leap.
"I'm intrigued by your doomsday speech, but unfortunately, I'm no longer Thanos's daughter. I just defected from the Black Quadrant," Gamora said, her mind resolute. She took a step back from the group.
"It really won't work..." Strange sighed. He raised his hand, and his cloak seemed to come to life, wrapping itself around a horrified Gamora, binding her like a mummy.
"Plan A has failed. Initiating Plan B." Strange looked at the struggling Gamora with a hint of regret. If he had a choice, he'd prefer a cheerful cooperation over this violent one.
"By my reckoning, the people chasing you should be here any second." Strange looked up at the ceiling, repeating to himself what he was about to say. "Thanos! I've come to negotiate!"
No, the tone was too aggressive. He frowned. It was a negotiation, so it was better to be calmer.
"Hey, you—"
BOOM!
Tony Stark, who had been watching Strange's antics since they'd met, couldn't even finish his sentence. The top of the New York Sanctum, which was supposed to be indestructible, was sliced clean off. The beautiful view of the blue sky was replaced by a figure slowly descending into the room.
"Loki?!" Pepper Potts exclaimed.
Strange's brow furrowed. He hadn't expected the arrival of Thanos's forces, but he definitely hadn't expected this. This was not in the Ancient One's letter.
"Tsk, tsk, you were hidden well. It's a shame you ran into me." Loki said, one hand behind his back and the other raised in front of his chest. A rectangular cube in his palm spun rhythmically as he slowly landed.
"Hulk!"
"ROOOOAR!"
Clothes tore and fell to the floor as the Hulk swelled into existence.
"This is not where you belong, Asgardian," the Sorcerer Supreme said, raising his hands and spinning a orange magical circle.
"Oh?" Loki said, a playful look in his eyes as he looked at the group. He rubbed the cube in his hand, and a figure was summoned from within it.
A blue suit, a red cape, and a big "S" on the chest.
"An aura from another universe?!" Strange said, his face changing instantly as he felt the alien energy from the stranger. "It's you?!"
Tony Stark, who could do nothing but stare in his soul form, looked at Loki, who was standing behind the man with the "S." He didn't say a word, but his meaning was clear:
Did you just lead the enemy right to our doorstep?
Are you a planetary traitor? A cosmic traitor?
