"Impossible..."
"How can this be..."
"Superman... resurrected?"
"Or resurrected by Darkseid?"
Whether it was Diana, Arthur Curry, or Mera secretly observing, all were now gaping in astonishment at the shirtless figure under the gloomy sky.
Without a Mother Box, and with no prior warning whatsoever, the supposedly dead Superman, Clark, achieved a miraculous resurrection with a mere gesture from Darkseid. And what's more, he now stood against Earth.
"Barry!"
"What? Can I move now? I'm ready." Miles away, Barry Allen pressed the communicator in his ear, taking a deep breath.
In just three short days, under the terrifying special training regimen named "Dart Jeep" by the robot cat Woz, Barry Allen had barely touched the threshold of that speed, stepping into a completely new realm.
The reason it was "barely" was because Barry Allen couldn't instantly accelerate to that speed from a standstill; he required a long running start. This was why he was miles away at the moment.
"No, the plan has changed."
"Superman, he's resurrected..."
"Really?! That's great! So now can we—"
"No, Barry, Superman was resurrected by Darkseid. Now, he's our enemy." Mera poured cold water on the excited Barry Allen, a chill instantly running down Barry Allen's spine, from his head to his toes.
"????"
"Listen, Barry, Diana and Arthur will do their best to hold off Clark. So when you run towards Lothar, make sure not to get distracted by Clark."
"Remember, no matter what happens, your mission is to generate a lightning bolt with your speed, strike the Mother Box, control the electricity connected to it, and direct it to Lothar, understood?" Mera, fearing that this sudden change might distract Barry Allen, repeatedly reminded him.
"I understand." Barry Allen nodded. Just as he was about to end the call, Mera's warning came through the earpiece again: "One more thing, be careful of Darkseid."
Clark's resurrection had disrupted Mera's pre-arranged plan. Darkseid, who had vanished into the void, might very well reappear at a critical moment to stop Barry Allen from resurrecting Lothar.
This was why she told Barry Allen to be careful of Darkseid.
"I know, don't worry, I know." Barry Allen smacked his lips, sighing inwardly.
"Good." Mera, having received a clear response, was the first to hang up the communication, her gaze fixed on the sky filled with worry.
"Clark, do you know what you're doing?!"
Under the sky, Diana, who had narrowly dodged the heat vision attack, widened her eyes, attempting to awaken the Kryptonian's conscience. However, the result was obvious; she failed. Diana's body, which plummeted to the ground, was the best proof.
"Hey, you alright?"
Arthur Curry, quick-wittedly kicking Steppenwolf's corpse under Diana as a cushion, extended his hand to Diana.
"I'm fine, but I won't be for long."
Diana, buffered by the meat shield, seemed mostly unharmed. After Arthur Curry pulled her to her feet, she brushed off the dust and looked solemnly at the figure slowly descending.
"Let me guess, your original plan probably didn't include Superman being resurrected, did it?" Shaking the blood from his silver trident, Arthur Curry stepped forward, blocking Diana.
"Be careful, Arthur."
"I know, I've heard of him. The guardian of Earth, the strongest hero in this world." Arthur Curry truly wasn't lying about this; Superman's name was indeed a household name on Earth.
"Earth's... guardian?"
After landing, Clark tilted his head, his gray eyes filled with confusion.
"I think I understand his state now."
Arthur Curry weighed the trident in his hand a few times, then hurled it directly towards Clark!
Whoosh!
Sizzle!
The Atlantean-made weapon was instantly melted into powder by the heat vision.
"Diana! Now!"
"Wake up, Clark!"
Diana, shielded by Arthur Curry, crossed her arms over her chest after Clark was distracted. The force unleashed by the collision of her Bracelets of Submission instantly blasted the bewildered Clark away...
"Mera, has Woz arrived yet?"
Diana, after landing, didn't dare to be careless. She flung the round shield on her back like a boomerang, hitting Clark on the forehead with a crisp thud!
"No, Woz's communication band hasn't been opened yet." To ensure 100% control over the Kryptonian spaceship, Woz needed to block all external interference, including Mera.
"But we need Lois Lane now!"
Clark, having suffered a surprise blow, quickly adapted to Diana's power level. He retaliated with a backhand slap, knocking her onto the shattered ground!
"Perhaps we still need Kryptonite."
Kicking Steppenwolf's corpse on the ground towards Clark, Arthur Curry followed up by swinging his fist at Clark's head. If his mind was messed up, then hit his mind. What if that woke him up? Although the possibility was slim, it was still a hope.
"Right! Kryptonite!"
Mera, who had been observing in secret, her eyes lit up. This was Superman's only weakness. If Bruce Wayne, a mere mortal, could defeat Superman with Kryptonite, there was no reason Diana couldn't.
"Lois and Alfred are together; they should still be near Woz."
"But as for Kryptonite, I can handle that."
Mera, clutching the Golden Trident, her eyes gleaming, then poked her head out and shouted to Diana: "Diana, where's Bruce Wayne's secret base?!"
This was Gotham, Batman's stronghold. There had to be plenty of Kryptonite here.
"About three thousand one hundred meters east, go look for it!" Diana clearly understood what Mera was thinking and quickly gave an answer.
East?
"Understood, hold them off! I'll be right back!"
Silent water currents immediately enveloped Mera, swiftly flying eastward.
"Three thousand one hundred meters, that should be—found it!"
Mera, using the sensitivity of the water currents to locate the Batcave, directly ripped open the ground with her Golden Trident, revealing the vast Batcave.
"Kryptonite, Kryptonite... Where would Bruce Wayne put Kryptonite—"
Mera jumped into the base and saw a green weapon close at hand, her murmuring abruptly stopping. It was a Kryptonite spear, the weapon that once defeated Doomsday.
"You're the one."
Mera grabbed the spear and flew back to the battlefield, the mesmerizing glowing green weapon hurled towards Diana's position.
"Diana!"
"Understood!"
Diana, who was barely maintaining her defense with her divinely imbued round shield, was secretly despairing.
Superman, having familiarized himself with her power, had clearly begun a relentless assault.
"Arthur!"
Diana, who had been waiting for a Kryptonite weapon, finally played her last card: a golden lasso wrapped around Clark's body as if alive.
"Coming!"
Arthur Curry, who had been mostly sidelined due to insufficient power, leaped into the air, grabbed the spear, and plunged it straight into the immobilized Clark's chest!
Thump!
The Kryptonite entered his body, yet strangely, no blood flowed out. Arthur Curry, overjoyed and thinking he had succeeded, clearly saw a sinister smirk on Clark's lips.
"????"
Clark's gray eyes lifted, and two heat vision beams instantly pierced Arthur Curry's head! Arthur Curry, being so close, couldn't dodge and was instantly extinguished...
"Arthur!!!!"
Diana cried out, but the next second, she suddenly lost her balance. Clark, using himself as a pivot while bound by the Lasso of Truth, forcibly pulled Diana to his side with overwhelming power! And at this moment, the Kryptonite spear was still embedded in Clark's chest.
"How can this be?!"
"As long as I wish it, I have no weaknesses." Clark grinned, reaching out and seizing Diana by the throat.
"No!!!"
