Chapter 6 - Trust No One

The rest of the night's events went in a haze. After Mrs Smith left Serena ate her pudding hungrily, it wasn't the best pudding she had ever eaten plus it had gotten cold but she was too hungry to care. Aunty Missy hadn't said a word since she got back, neither did she eat her pudding, Serena couldn't let it go to waste so she ate hers as well. After that she entered the bathroom which smelt like wet concrete, the Walls were old but neat and the shower head wasn't working, there was a bucket of clean water beside the door, which Serena added her now warm water to . After her bath, she barely could keep her eyes open. "Aunt Missy, are you awake?" she whispered, gently touching Missy's shoulder. Missy was already fast asleep, her breathing even. Serena changed into her fuzzy, warm nightdress, the cotton dress allowed enough air.Barely able to braid her hair down, she slowly found herself drifting of to sleep.

She opened her eyes to find herself lying in a forest covered in white sand. The tall trees barely clumbed together around her, branches intertwined so much that she couldn't make out the time of the day. Still in a daze she slowly stood up looking instenly at her surrounding. The forest floor was bare, without any vegetion just tall ugly trees. The harsh wind cut across her bare arms, making her relize that she wasn't wearing Her nightdress anymore rather it had been replaced by a red, sleeveless flare dress with a deep v neck which held her bust high. Her bare feet felt numb on the old ground. She shivered, her arms wrapping round her. "Where… am I?" she whispered, this wasn't the first time she was experiencing such an absurd situation, she started having dreams like this after the crash, the were lucid yes, but she always felt like a spectator in them most of the Events made no sense , this didn't feel like a dream.

The forest stretched endlessly, as she walked aimlessly through it, there was no sound of birds or little creatures, the only thing she could hear was her tired feet dragging through the sand. Suddenly she heard began to hear voices echo through the trees. The words incoherent as they became louder.

Serena turned, her eyes darting through the branches but couldn't make out a clear figure, all she could see were shadows jumping through the branches at inhumane speed.

" What do you want!" Serena screaming as she found her feet picking up the pace. She began to run, faster and faster as the voices became louder.

The shadows followed quickly behind her, barely a fer inches away from her. She turned looking back to see on lung towards her, it's claws stretched out. She screamed as she tried to swat the creature away, her eyes shut in order not to see it's face. She tumbled back tripping over a rock and tumbling down. A thousand voices screaming and wailung as she clutched at her head as a piercing pain tore through her skull. She finally stopped, her head making contact with the ground. She shut her eyes tightly, willing herself to wake from this nightmare.

The voices were gone, silence enveloping her as she laid still on the cold ground. She slowly opened her eyes, her head aching to find herself in a different place. Two events at a time, this was the first time this was happening.

She was standing on a vast, frozen expanse. The clear ice glistening as the deem sunlight She was back in her night dress, though it was drenched in water, hopefully that's what the liquid is. shivered violently in her nightdress, her fingers turning pale from cold. The landscape stretched endlessly in every direction, a barren, frozen wasteland.

From somewhere in the distance, she could hear a faint mournful voice, almost like a song. Serena felt her legs move on their own towards the direction of the voice like she was drawn toward the sound. Her steps crunched across the frozen ground as she followed it, the eerie melody growing clearer.

By the edge of a cliff sat a little girl, Her clothes were tattered as bruises marred her skin. She rocked gently, sobbing, her song of her misery filling the air. Serena stood speechless for sometime, her feet glued to the ice out of fear. What in the world is a child doing here , was that actually a child in the first place. She wanted to leave but her conscience couldn't let her. She slowly approached the girl, crouching down a few inches away from her, softening her voice she spoke "Hey… what's wrong?"

The girl did not answer. She buried her face in her palms, her body shaking. Serena crouched beside her, offering a trembling hand. "Please, I'm sure there's something I can do to help." The girl kept crying, her shoulders shaking violently as she did, Serena slowly reached towards her trying to console her.

Suddenly, the girl's head snapped up, her eyes balls pulled out of her face with her mouth hanging open. She grabbed Serena's wrist with a strength that belied her size. Her Nails dug into Serena's skin tearing deeply into her muscles. The Pain took sometime to register because of the fear, Serena screamed in pain pulling her arm, which made her nails sink deeper into her skin. The girl pressed her other hand against Serena's the smell of iron filling her nostrils.

"( I need a made up language, like an ancient language for here meaning" you are the one that was promised)"

Get the fuck away from me, I, I don't understand! Please, just let me go!" Her cries echoed across the frozen expanse, tears mixing with blood from the scratches.

"You need to see. Open your eyes… see!" the girl said, her head tilting unnaturally. Serena's heart nearly stopped when she realized the girl had no eyes, just dark, hollow voids.

A scream tore from Serena's throat. She kicked forcefully, sending the girl sprawling onto the ice. Her shadow twisted unnaturally as it fell. Before Serena could process, the girl rose with inhuman speed, her form distorting as she ran toward her.

The ice beneath them cracked violently. Serena's legs gave way, plunging her into the freezing void. The world spun, darkness swallowing her, and she felt herself falling endlessly, the cold biting through her very soul.
