Chapter 6 - Happiness that bring pain

After we left the mansion, I immediately headed to the hospital where my brother was admitted. When I arrived, I hurried to his room and found him lying there on the hospital bed—unconscious but still breathing. His skin was pale, almost like that of a corpse. At first glance, it was clear the poison was taking a heavy toll on his body. A sudden wave of emotions crashed over me. From what I had seen in the series, her brother loved the original host more than anything. He would do anything to protect her, even if it meant risking his own life. That made me wish I had a loving brother like him. But now that I had been given a chance to have one, I was determined to protect him with all my might.

"Xiao Fang," I said, calling out to the system. "Remember that drug I produced while we were still in the basement? Can you bring it out for me?" I stretched out my hand, waiting.

"Here you go," he said, handing me the drug.

"Wow! His stats are back to normal. It's as if he was never poisoned. Zhēnyā, you're a genius," he said excitedly, floating around me.

"Big sis?" Su Ming's voice came weakly as he tried to sit up after waking.

"Xiao Ming! You're awake. How are you feeling? Do you want some water or something to eat?" I replied, pacing anxiously but happily now that he was conscious.

"Calm down! I'm okay. Did that scumbag bully you again?" he asked, turning me gently side to side, checking for any injuries.

"No, he wouldn't dare. By the way, I'm getting you discharged today so we can bury Mom and Dad before we start our revenge," I said, cupping his face and then moving to pat his shoulder.

"But how are we supposed to do that when our company is on the verge of bankruptcy?" he asked, his eyes filled with pain and worry.

I was about to reply when Xiao Fang's voice interrupted me. "We have an incoming—one minute away. He is the doctor responsible for harming your brother," the system informed me, urging me to stay alert.

"Oh! The prey brought itself into the predator's mouth. Lucky for him, I was prepared," I said as I turned to face the door that had just opened.

A doctor walked in with a fake smile plastered on his face, a nurse trailing behind him. As soon as they approached the bed, I pulled a gun from behind me and pointed it directly at the doctor.

"Hey hey hey! Hold on! You can't just pull a gun and kill someone in broad daylight," the doctor protested with a smirk. "Oh wait, you actually can. You have immunity and mafia backup. Damn! No wonder you were so dead set on finding that cure for the virus outbreak—you were planning to kill him all along. You really are Lucifer reincarnated," he added with a sly smile as he shook his head.

"How would you like to die, Mr. Doctor? I promise I'll make it painless," I replied with a cunning smile of my own.

"Wait, big sis. You can't kill the doctor. When did you even learn how to use a gun?" Su Ming said, trying to coax me as he reached for the gun in my hand.

"Don't get involved, Xiao Ming. This motherf**ker is working under that bastard husband of mine's orders to poison you. He's been giving you poison to keep you in the hospital and torture you," I said, my eyes full of fury as tears streamed down my face.

"Please, Mrs. Fu, don't kill me. I was just following Mr. Fu's orders. I couldn't refuse given the amount of influence he has," the doctor begged, dropping to his knees and shaking with fear.

"Don't kill him yet. I want everyone involved to pay the price," Su Ming said, tears falling from his eyes, his expression full of hatred.

"Get u… Mmmff…" Before I could finish my sentence, I suddenly felt nauseous, clutching my stomach tightly.
