"What the hell is this?!"
Roy's eyes widened in disbelief.
Hold it right there, young hero!
This is supposed to be Type-Moon world?!
Just as Roy was stunned, the two enemies had already lunged at him.
They came directly at him head-on.
"Fast!"
Like a car speeding down the highway!
Probably around 80 miles per hour!
"But still slower than a Servant!"
Roy tensed but showed no fear.
Sure, that was fast for an ordinary human—but far from Servant-level speed. Forget comparing them to Miss Okita, they weren't even on par with Hassan!
Before they reached him, Roy had already activated a defensive measure—a rune of primordial origin from Norse mythology, personally crafted by the god Odin himself. A rune symbolizing barriers materialized in front of him.
The two attackers froze momentarily at the sight of the rune-formed barrier appearing out of nowhere—but they didn't hesitate for long. Their weapons, glowing with light, slashed down mercilessly on the barrier.
DENG——!
A deep impact echoed.
But the barrier didn't even ripple—utterly unshaken.
Instead, the attackers were repelled by the force, their arms going numb and nearly dropping their weapons.
The other three had been heading toward the blonde girl lying on the ground. But before reaching her, they noticed something was off and were visibly startled.
Wait a second—this isn't just some bystander?
The blonde girl had just gotten up, ready to face death with grim resolve—only to witness this scene and stand dumbfounded.
Taking advantage of the momentary stalemate, Roy tried conjuring an attack with his mind.
He imagined lightning, fire, even curses—but nothing happened. The air remained empty and still.
It felt like a crow was mockingly flapping overhead, cawing at his failure.
"Ahem… looks like this isn't just a normal dream."
Roy cleared his throat, adjusted his glasses, brushed off his clothes, scratched his cheek, and muttered to himself.
While he was in that awkward moment, the two enemies had recovered, flanking around his barrier from both sides. Their glowing blade weapons didn't look any less lethal than steel.
Seeing this, Roy smirked slightly and snapped his fingers.
VMMM!
VMMM!
Runes lit up on either side of his body.
Without warning, roaring flames surged out from the runes, transforming into a wave of fire that swept toward the two attackers.
They were shocked and immediately tried to retreat. But they seriously underestimated the power of primordial runes. Before they could even speak, the fire swallowed them whole—completely vaporized.
"Hmph. Everyone knows that if a frontal barrier doesn't work, you'll try to flank."
Roy curled his lips.
His eyes shifted from blood-red to a complex swirl of black and white runes—Mystic Eyes filled with contradictions, sparkling like gemstones.
Meanwhile—
The three remaining assassins stayed professional despite their shock and charged at the blonde girl without hesitation.
They wielded different weapons—two had melee blades, while the third transformed his white device into a gun.
And what it fired were glowing bullets of light!
Seriously? Are you sure you guys are from the Type-Moon universe?!
Roy grumbled inwardly, though he was also envious of their weapons.
Unknown tech!
That meant it came from a completely different field—maybe even an entirely different field of technological advancement!
I need that thing.
At the very least, I need to study it!
While thinking this, Roy was about to switch targets—but then noticed the blonde girl again.
Contrary to his expectations, she wasn't helpless. She had pulled out two white devices from somewhere, which transformed into twin swords. She was already clashing with the two melee assassins.
Her movements were sharp—clearly the result of long-term training.
But her right foot moved awkwardly, twitching painfully each time she applied pressure.
Roy recalled her stumbling earlier and realized—she must've sprained her ankle.
In that condition, the gunman was still shooting at her from a distance. Although her reaction speed was excellent, she was gradually getting wounded, her white dress now stained red.
Roy quickly analyzed the situation with a glance.
He raised his hand.
Two flame runes formed in front of him, and his Mystic Eyes activated—splitting the runes into four, then eight. Once the runes stopped multiplying, he poured mana into them—
"Fall back!"
BOOOOM————!!
A tidal wave of flames roared forth, engulfing the entire street in a sea of fire. Even nearby residential buildings were scorched in the blast.
The blonde girl didn't hesitate at all when given the command by a stranger—she leapt backward gracefully, landing beside Roy.
The three enemies were stunned by the scale of Roy's attack and scattered.
But under Roy's control, the flames curved like homing missiles, tracking each of them. They didn't stand a chance. In moments, all three were consumed.
In just two moves, all five assassins were eliminated by Roy.
He exhaled slowly.
"Primordial Runes drain a lot of mana…"
When using modern runes, he could cast over a hundred without even blinking. But using just eight primordial runes had drained nearly half of his magical reserves.
Bzzt bzzt——
Suddenly—
Before Roy could react, the entire scene flickered like a glitched-out screen—blinking, overlapping, freezing, accelerating… and then collapsing entirely.
"Wait…!"
Just before the dream ended, Roy heard the blonde girl trying to say something.
But she didn't have time to speak.
The dream shattered.

At the Aozaki Residence
Roy opened his eyes on the master bed.
The light outside had dimmed. He wasn't sure what time it was—but quickly realized it was already evening.
"That was a weird dream…"
He sat up, wearing a complicated expression.
The blonde girl being chased, the five killers, the strange weapons, people running as fast as speeding cars…
He remembered every detail.
"What the hell was that all about?"
Roy sighed, wondering if he had gone delusional in pursuit of his research goals. Was he dreaming about acquiring new technology from different fields out of desperation?
He lifted the covers.
Just as he was about to get out of bed—he froze.
"…Who?"
A young girl was lying across his legs.
Her petite body was so light it was almost weightless.
But what really startled Roy—
Were the two ram-like horns curling down from her head.
Her eyes were closed.
But when she heard Roy's voice, she slowly opened her star-pink eyes and said:
"It's Mom!"
