"Do you think the dignified Crimson Flame Dragon King would be that kind of person?"
"..."
Discussion was one thing, but no one had the guts to step even a little closer to Old Con.
And the only reason there wasn't a commotion here was entirely because Saint Heath Academy, like Sky City, was an absolutely neutral faction.
If Old Con dared to cause trouble here, then in a single second he would go from being a "hero of the dragon race" to a "public enemy of the dragon race."
The one responsible for receiving Constantine was a very senior grade director.
But even so, when facing the Crimson Flame Dragon King, the director was sweating buckets.
Watching that slightly ridiculous exchange between the two of them, Leon narrowed his eyes and murmured, "Could it be his daughter has already recovered? He's here now to register her for enrollment?"
Rossweise lightly shook her head.
"Didn't you say last time that his daughter was sealed into a crystal not long after she was born? No matter how talented a hatchling is, there's no way she could enroll at such a young age."
"True."
Even as much of a genius as Noah, she only enrolled when she was three.
No matter how much of a prodigy Old Con's little one was, there's no way she could start school before she could even properly talk.
"Then what exactly is he doing at the academy?"
"No idea. But I think I understand now why the vice principal didn't come and torment us this year at opening ceremony."
The queen tilted her head curiously at Leon, "Why?"
Leon jerked his chin toward Constantine's direction, "Because he's got a guest even harder to handle."
Rossweise also turned to look again.
She saw Vice Principal Wilson had already taken over from the sweating grade director and was personally receiving Constantine.
At that, Rossweise couldn't help but laugh, "So after all, Constantine ended up taking the bullet for us."
Leon leaned comfortably back against the bench, stretching his torso, let out a satisfied yawn, then sighed, "My Con is great. No more words needed."
———
"Helena!"
"Noah-chan~"
After several weeks apart, the two best friends opened their arms and ran toward each other.
In the sunlight, amidst the crowd, two little hatchlings were about to embrace, until, without warning, a little ahoge suddenly shot up between them.
Right after, Luna, eyes closed, arms crossed, slowly straightened up right between her sister and her sister's best friend.
Noah blinked, "Luna? Weren't you just asleep? H-How did you get here?"
"Yeah…I didn't notice Luna-chan move at all…so fast," Helena was also a little surprised.
But only Little Light at the side saw through everything.
"Big sis, Helena-sis, this is the once-in-a-lifetime Flash of the Melkvei family."
Noah slowly turned her head to look at her little sister, and said seriously, "But Dad always uses Flash to save the day right on time. It seems like his life comes with unlimited Flashes."
"That's just an exaggeration, big sis."
"Oh, okay."
Noah withdrew her gaze, turning back to Luna.
She had originally planned to sneak a quick greeting with Helena while Luna was asleep, because she knew Luna would get jealous and chase after her.
But the curly-haired queen hadn't expected that this sis-con's radar alarm would be so sensitive. She and Helena had barely laid eyes on each other, hadn't even hugged yet, before Luna had flashed right between them.
'Good little sister, if only you trained this hard normally,' Noah sighed silently as the eldest.
"Luna just woke up and realized Sister wasn't there, so I came to find Sister," The little Luna still had her arms folded, speaking righteously.
"Is that so… Well, now you've found me."
"Mm-hmm."
The little sister nodded, the ahoge on her head bobbing along.
But still with no intention of stepping aside.
Noah blinked, and suddenly had an idea.
"Alright then, since you're here already…"
She drew out the words, and sure enough, Luna's interest was hooked. She immediately turned to look at her.
"What is it, Sister?"
Noah smirked, then spread her arms again and hugged.
"Eh, Sis—"
Helena, being her bestie for over a year, instantly understood and joined in with the same motion.
"Hey Helena-sis, mmph mmph~—"
Before Luna could react, she was sandwiched between Noah and Helena.
On one side was her sister's familiar fragrance, on the other was the cool freshness unique to the sea dragon clan.
The little Luna felt like she was about to faint, her big eyes turning into "scent swirls," spinning around and around.
And Little Light, witnessing the "tragedy," couldn't help clapping her hands in sudden realization.
"So the one embarrassed on the field isn't big sis, it's second sis."
Also, getting to see such high-quality fun right at the start of school, Little Light was convinced this semester was bound to keep climbing higher and higher.
After being "sandwiched like cheese" and "double face-washed," Luna finally saw daylight again.
Little Light quickly ran up to support her dizzy second sis, and immediately asked,
"Second sis, how does it feel?"
Just recovering from her mosquito-coil eyes, Luna shook her little head, thought for a bit, then replied, "This side of the face was hard, this side of the face was soft."
The former referred to Noah's side, the latter to Helena's.
"Hard? Soft? Why would that be?"
Little Light's question was also Luna's and Noah's question.
Three little dragon girls all turned in unison to look at Helena.
Helena froze for a moment, then frowned with a bitter smile.
"Ah, things like that…you'll understand when you're older~"
The Noah sisters looked at each other. Since it was something related to age, they didn't press further. They'd find out sooner or later anyway.
"Let's go, I just saw over there they're selling snacks. Let's buy some," Helena suggested.
"Okay."
The girls held hands and went off shopping.
———
On Leon's side, he avoided the crowd and entered the teaching building, but not to find a teacher.
He went alone up to the rooftop of the building.
There weren't many people here. It was quiet, only at noon during school days would some students come up here to eat lunch.
Leon walked slowly to the edge of the rooftop, looking through the iron railing toward the campus interior.
It was still bustling and crowded.
At a corner of the academy plaza, Rossweise had found Claudia, who was also there sending her kid to school, and the two were chatting about something.
Leon drew his gaze away from them, turning instead toward where the vice principal and Constantine were.
That old dragon might like to ship couples, but his professional ability was beyond question.
Even facing someone like Constantine, he spoke neither humble nor overbearing, treating him as an equal.
Of course, maybe Old Con was just in a good mood today. From his expression and tone, he didn't seem particularly harsh.
So they were able to chat there calmly.
After a while, Constantine suddenly lifted his head and glanced toward the rooftop where Leon stood.
Clearly, he had noticed Leon.
But Leon wasn't surprised. Arms folded, he simply waited silently.
Constantine retracted his gaze, exchanged a few more words with the vice principal, then strode toward the teaching building.
A few minutes later, solid footsteps sounded behind Leon.
He didn't turn around, kept looking at the campus plaza, and said, "Don't mind me choosing this place to talk with you. Other than my wife's kin, I don't want anyone to know the two of us are old friends."
"I'll say it again, Leon, we are not friends."
"Alright, if you say we're not, then we're not."
When it came to the Dragon Kings' trademark stubbornness, General Leon had his own special responses.
When Rossweise was stubborn, Leon: Ah yes yes, you're always right.
When Claudia was stubborn, Leon: You're just venting, you don't really mean it.
When Constantine was stubborn, Leon: Same as upstairs, you're just venting.
"Did the Ghost Lotus Grass work?", Leon asked the one question a daughter-con would care about most.
Constantine nodded, "She's already awake. With the help of the clan's alchemists, she's slowly recovering her body."
Hearing that the little one was fine, Leon secretly sighed in relief. But he didn't show it too much, only replied lightly, "That's good."
After a pause, Leon asked again, "So you came to the academy to enroll Hefi?"
"She was only two months old when Adam injured her. Now she can barely say a few simple sentences. How could she possibly start school?"
"Oh, I figured as much."
"Then why'd you even ask?"
"Can't I ask? After all, if your daughter's recovery succeeded, I deserve at least one-third of the credit, don't I?"
Old Con gave a cold snort, "I came to help the clansmen who were forced to suspend their studies go through the process again, and also to communicate with Wilson, so as to avoid unnecessary trouble in the future."
The Crimson Flame clan had undergone internal and external changes to varying degrees, and their standing within the dragon race had become rather delicate.
So Constantine coming in advance to talk to the vice principal made perfect sense.
And really, this act of Old Con's could be called very dutiful. He could easily have just sent a deputy to handle it.
"I see. So you've already discussed it?"
"Not yet. I'll be meeting Headmaster Oullette later."
"Then why not go earlier?"
