Chapter 285 - Chapter 440: Do You Plan to Have Another Baby?

Muttering to himself, Leon returned to his room.

Roughly ten minutes later, Leon heard the sound of a door opening and closing outside.

It must be that the meeting downstairs had ended, and Isa had returned.

[Please find the "doctor." There is medicine there to cure food poisoning.]

That was what the memory stone had said earlier.

And the identity card Isa had drawn was precisely "doctor."

Leon didn't delay. He got up and went straight to the door of Isa's room.

He couldn't afford to waste too much time. If he was still poisoned by the time of the next meeting, everyone would probably vote him out.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Come in."

Leon pushed the door open and entered.

Isa was sitting on the sofa in the living room, holding the initial intel card in her hand.

Seeing that it was Leon, Isa slowly placed the intel card back into the wooden box, then covered it.

Only then did Isa turn her head to look at Leon, resting her beautiful chin in one hand, smiling sweetly as she asked, "Something up, brother-in-law?"

Leon shrugged, "The NPC said I got food poisoning. You've got the antidote."

Hearing this, Isa was first stunned, then thoughtfully nodded.

"So that's how the rules work… Quite realistic, actually."

"Yeah. So, sis, do you have the antidote?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Isa's memory stone echoed with a staff voice, ["The antidote is in the cabinet of the 'doctor's' storage room."]

["Note: The medicine is a game prop and is a safe-to-eat fruit candy."]

Isa raised her eyebrows, "Hm, interesting."

With that, the red-haired beauty stood up and slowly walked toward the storage room.

"Wait a moment, this Red Dragon Divine Doctor will go fetch your medicine."

Leon smiled.

'Alright, alright, now she's getting into character.'

Before long, Isa returned holding a few "antidotes."

She opened her palm. In her hand were several differently colored "antidotes."

"Well then, my weak and sickly brother-in-law, do you want orange-flavored antidote, apple-flavored antidote, or… oh, this one's mint-flavored. Which one do you want?"

"Orange flavor, I guess."

"I knew you'd choose orange."

Leon paused, "Why?"

"Because Little Rose really likes oranges."

"…That has nothing to do with Rossweise, sis."

Isa tossed the orange-flavored fruit candy to Leon.

Leon caught it steadily.

"Of course it's related. Lovers influence each other subtly over time. What she likes, you'll try, and slowly begin to like together."

Leon shook his head and smiled bitterly, "Then guess who poisoned me?"

Isa blinked her bright eyes and of course quickly figured out who Leon meant.

"Oh~ the chef, huh. Convenient role, can stab people invisibly. Way more interesting than the family edition of Werewolf we used to play," Isa's tone held a hint of excitement.

She really liked games that required brainpower.

Especially when her dear brother-in-law was a potential opponent, it made playing even more fun.

Leon ate the fruit candy, and the memory stone chimed with a prompt saying his food poisoning was cured and he could now attend meetings normally.

"Then why do you think Rossweise poisoned me?", Leon crossed his arms, furrowed his brow, and began to analyze.

"Could it be… that she's the one who stole the Black Holy Stone, and she poisoned me so I couldn't attend the meeting, and then used the chance to stir everyone up to vote for me?"

As he posed the question, Leon didn't forget to "smear" his wife a little. Pushing the blame for stealing the Black Holy Stone onto Rossweise.

Isa thought about it too and finally said, "Based on what I know about little Rose, her reason for poisoning you probably wasn't that complicated."

"So?"

"So she probably just… did it for fun."

Leon silently covered his face.

Using a precious hard-control opportunity just for fun, this was an abstract move no matter what version of Werewolf you played. But when he remembered it was that black-bellied, vengeful mother dragon, and the target was Leon, then it all made sense.

"Then, sis, what's your main task as the doctor?", Leon asked bluntly.

"Me? I'm a veterinarian, specialized in treating little animals. Like certain food-poisoned relatives."

Leon could tell she was joking.

Using a joking tone to dodge Leon's question, classic big sis move.

But Leon didn't expect to get the answer so easily anyway.

"And you, brother-in-law? What's your main task?"

"Protect the princess."

"Oh? Protect the princess?"

"Yeah. The Black Holy Stone has been stolen, and the princess has ordered the castle locked down. I think whoever stole the stone might get desperate and directly attack the princess."

Leon bullshitted solemnly, "So we good guys have to protect the princess. If the princess gets stabbed, maybe the game ends right there, right?"

When General Leon declared himself part of the "good guy faction," his face and eyes were full of conviction.

As if the Black Holy Stone he had hidden beneath the kitchen water tank didn't exist at all.

Ah well, this is the confidence of the righteous (Old Con, take notes).

But Isa didn't comment, only said, "Then, good-guy brother-in-law, you'd better hurry and swear your loyalty to the princess."

"Why?"

"Because you missed the last meeting. Everyone thinks something's fishy and decided to investigate you first."

"I missed the meeting because Rossweise poisoned her own husband, okay?"

Isa spread her hands, "If she doesn't say it, who would know?"

Hard-controlling the lone wolf was clever precisely because it allowed her to throw dirt on Leon while he couldn't defend himself at the meeting.

"Then sis, do you believe me?"

"As your relative, I believe you; but as the doctor in the game, I've got to observe carefully," Big sis really was clever.

Even simple identity games, her responses were flawless.

"Fine."

Leon paused, then added,

"Wait a sec, sis, what if Rossweise didn't poison me just for fun, but really wanted to use the time I couldn't attend to get everyone to vote me out, then she really might be the one who stole the Black Holy Stone."

Isa pondered that, "It's definitely possible. This game should have a 'lone wolf' faction, free to kill. And..."

"And?"

"And little Rose stabbing you was something I totally expected. If you had the chance, you'd definitely be the first to stab her too."

"…"

Clap!

Isa clapped her hands, her CP soul igniting fiercely, "Wow, you two are just too in sync! Truly a match made in heaven~"

'Don't make me sick, big sis!'

But seriously, if Leon got one chance to stab, he really would choose Rossweise first.

Married men have no other hobbies, just love stabbing their own wives. [T/N: Same as well for wives, I guess.]

"So what's your plan next?", Isa asked.

"Like you said, go find Noah and swear loyalty. She's the princess."

"Mm… sounds good. Good luck."

Leon waved, "Thanks for the orange-flavored antidote, sis. I'm off."

"Bye-bye, and don't fall for little Rose's beauty trap again~"

She smiled like she already guessed what had happened between Leon and Rossweise in the kitchen.

Leon scoffed and didn't answer, just turned and left.

After Leon left, Isa returned to the sofa, reopened the wooden box on the coffee table, and took out the intel card she'd been looking at earlier.

Actually, it wasn't the initial intel card, but one she had just obtained by completing a hidden task after the meeting ended.

The intel card only had three words written on it, [The Only One]

Isa's thoughts stirred, 'The only one… what does that refer to?'

———

Around midnight, the memory stone had just played a message saying the next meeting would begin at 8 a.m. the following morning. Until then, players could choose to rest or continue completing tasks.

Leon lay on his room's bed, one hand behind his head, the other absentmindedly tossing the memory stone.

He couldn't fall asleep.

The reason was simple. This was his first time playing such a novel immersive game. Even Leon couldn't help but feel a little excited.

So not being able to sleep was normal.

He just didn't feel like doing any tasks in the middle of the night.

Anyway, the game lasted a full 72 hours, so getting a good six or seven hours of sleep was fine.

"The meeting at eight tomorrow morning… that mother dragon will definitely come at me hard and try to get everyone to vote me out."

Based on what Leon knew of Rossweise, this was totally something she would do.

As big sis Isa said, little Rose might not have had any complicated motive or goal, she just did it for fun.
