The Approaching Storm
I'd almost succeeded too. If only Amara hadn't fled. If only Elias hadn't found the truth.
A twig snapped behind me. I spun around, claws extending, ready to fight.
"And what do I want?" I asked, though something inside me already knew the answer.
"Revenge," she said simply. "Power. Your pack back."
I studied her face, looking for the lie. "What's the catch?"
"The Mother would like to speak with you," she responded. "She believes your talents are being wasted out here in the wilderness."
The Mother. The name sent a chill down my spine. Even I had heard the whispers—a powerful being, ancient and evil, who wanted to bring back monsters from the old world. A being that Amara and Elias were going to fight.
"Why would she want me?" I asked carefully.
"Because you know things," the woman said. "About the Blood Moon Pack. About their protection. About Amara Kings."
