Chapter 114: Zi Yan: This Isn't How It Was Supposed to Go!
"ROAR!!"
Suddenly, a thunderous roar erupted from the valley. A massive white ape, standing three to four zhang tall, leapt out with a powerful stride.
This giant ape stood upright, exuding a bone chilling icy aura. Its long, thick arms were disproportionately larger than its relatively shorter but equally sturdy legs. With each swing of its claws, fierce winds ripped through the air, leaving deep gashes on the surrounding rock walls as though they were made of tofu.
From its massive nostrils, heavy breaths surged out like twin plumes of white mist. Its blood red eyes burned with fury and killing intent, locking onto the intruders.
The moment its gaze fell on Zi Yan in the sky, it let out another earth shaking roar.
"YOU AGAIN, YOU LITTLE BRAT! HAVEN'T HAD ENOUGH BEATINGS YET?!" the Snow Demon Sky Ape bellowed, lowering its massive body as its fists pounded the ground.
With a thunderous boom, the ground cracked open beneath its fists, creating two massive pits. Bending its powerful legs, it prepared to launch itself at its enemies. Though it couldn't fly, it was still brimming with confidence. After all, thanks to the Earth Core Tempering Milk, the injuries it had sustained before were nearly healed.
"This time, I'll crush that little brat for good!" it thought viciously, the blood red glow in its eyes growing fiercer, exuding an overwhelming bloodlust.
Zi Yan, however, remained unfazed. Instead, she stuck out her tongue and made a face at it. "You big dummy! Come on, if you've got the guts, fly up here and fight me!"
"Ha! You can't even hit me... Hahaha!" Zi Yan stood with her hands on her tiny hips, her silver bell like laughter ringing out. Her carefree attitude caused Lu Bu's lips to curl into an amused smile.
Despite the ape's murderous glare, Zi Yan showed no concern. After all, it had said the same things during their previous fight. And what had happened then? Nothing!
Lu Bu, standing nearby, chuckled softly as he studied the Snow Demon Sky Ape. It was indeed a formidable beast. Despite only just entering adulthood, it already possessed strength comparable to a three star Dou Wang.
He remembered the original story mentioning that this creature had a berserk bloodline, allowing it to enter a state of frenzy where even five or six star Dou Wangs couldn't match its might.
As he analyzed it, Lu Bu couldn't help but lament. What a beast... It's just too bad it's a male. If it were like the Amethyst Winged Lion King a domineering female with a cute cub it would have been so much more interesting!
The thought made Lu Bu smirk, his fists unconsciously clenching.
"Three years into this transmigration, and I'm still a Shakespearean gentleman... How disappointing." Lu Bu sighed, feeling a tinge of self pity. If it were any other transmigrator, the skies would probably already be lit with firepower by now.
Returning his focus to the situation, Lu Bu dismissed the Snow Demon Sky Ape as just a young and overconfident male. It held no particular interest for him.
"Hey, Lu Bu, the treasure is inside that valley. But you won't get it unless you take care of him first," Zi Yan teased with a sly grin before adding, "Hehe... I can help you fight him if you want. Just give me something tasty in return."
Lu Bu rolled his eyes. This little troublemaker only had food on her mind. Still, her wits seemed surprisingly sharp when it came to bargaining for more snacks.
"No need. I'll handle it myself," Lu Bu replied with a smile, casually rolling up his sleeves.
"Hey, hey, don't be reckless!" Zi Yan quickly warned, her face suddenly filled with concern. "That big dummy is really strong he's a fifth tier magical beast! I couldn't even beat him myself..."
As she spoke, she abruptly covered her mouth, her puffed up pink cheeks betraying her mistake.
Oh no, I said too much!
"You little rascal!" Lu Bu ruffled her messy hair, shaking his head with a smirk.
"Hehe..." Zi Yan let out a sheepish laugh, a faint blush spreading across her smudged little face. She looked slightly embarrassed at being caught trying to hide something.
But when she noticed Lu Bu still rolling up his sleeves, her expression turned anxious. "Hey, Lu Bu, you're not his match! Don't be so reckless!"
On the ground, the Snow Demon Sky Ape shifted its murderous gaze from Zi Yan to Lu Bu, sizing up this seemingly weak human.
"A foolish human blinded by greed!" The ape's thick lips curled back, revealing sharp, menacing fangs.
Although it didn't understand why this human could fly or why he looked so confident, its instincts told it he was weak so weak that one punch would be enough to kill him!
"Come on, human! If you're not afraid to die, step forward! You'll never take the Earth Core Tempering Milk from me!" the Snow Demon Sky Ape roared.
"Hey, Lu Bu, are you even listening to me?!" Zi Yan huffed, her tiny face puffing up in frustration. She looked so adorable that Lu Bu was tempted to pinch her cheeks.
"If you're not his match, don't try to fight him! Otherwise, I'll drag you back to the inner courtyard myself!" Zi Yan's usually lighthearted voice turned serious. After all, she didn't want him getting hurt because of her. As for the pill she'd already eaten? Well... she'd just owe him a favor later.
"Who said I was going to fight him?" Lu Bu said with a grin, his words catching Zi Yan off guard.
"Then what are you...?" Zi Yan's mind went blank, her little head filling with question marks.
Before she could process his words, Lu Bu flicked his finger, releasing a black figure from his storage ring.
The figure was a humanoid puppet, its entire body pitch black with intricate silver and cyan runes glowing across its surface.
"What is that?" Zi Yan asked, puzzled. It looked human but had none of the characteristics of a living being.
"A puppet," Lu Bu replied with a smirk, raising two fingers in front of his chest.
With a sudden burst of movement, the puppet stepped forward, compressing the air beneath its feet with an audible thud. In the next instant, it shot forward like a cannonball toward the Snow Demon Sky Ape.
Boom!
The puppet clenched its right fist and launched a devastating punch. The force compressed the air into a powerful shockwave, hurtling straight toward the ape.
"ROAR!"
The Snow Demon Sky Ape roared in defiance, its massive hand forming a fist as it swung to meet the attack head on.
Bang!!
A deafening explosion rocked the area as shockwaves rippled outward, shaking nearby trees and sending debris flying in all directions.
The Snow Demon Sky Ape staggered backward, unable to stabilize itself under the immense force of the collision.
Thud!
Its massive body slammed into a cliff wall, its pale face flushing red with strain.
Meanwhile, the puppet landed heavily on the ground, creating a crater with the impact. Emerging from the dust, its iron like body gleamed ominously in the sunlight, exuding an unyielding aura.
"ROAR!!"
The ape pounded its chest furiously, its roars echoing with a frenzied madness. A blood red glow erupted around its body, amplifying its ferocity.
With a sharp whistle, it lunged at the puppet, trailing a streak of red energy as it unleashed a bone chilling wind.
Unperturbed, Lu Bu snapped his fingers. The cyan runes on the puppet's body flared to life, and blazing cyan flames engulfed its iron frame.
The puppet dashed forward, its steel grip closing around the Snow Demon Sky Ape's head. With overwhelming force, it slammed the ape into the ground, dragging it along as it bulldozed forward, leaving a trail of destruction.
With the valley entrance wide open, Lu Bu glanced back at Zi Yan, waved, and then flew into the valley with a smirk.
"Y you... YOU CHEATED! THIS ISN'T FAIR!" Zi Yan shouted, her pink cheeks puffed up as she angrily protested his lack of "fair play."
This wasn't how things were supposed to go!
But Lu Bu had already disappeared into the valley, leaving Zi Yan floating in the air, pouting furiously.
