Chapter 75 - 75

Dana Cat sneaked out of the Gryffindor common room.

He walked with elegant steps, no different from a real cat, heading straight for the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's office.

Upon reaching the fourth floor, he unexpectedly saw a little girl wandering around.

The little girl had long, golden curly hair, silver eyes that protruded slightly, and looked surprised. A necklace made of butterbeer corks could be vaguely seen inside her school uniform.

This was Luna Lovegood.

Dana only glanced at her before continuing towards the third floor.

"Huh? A kitten?"

Luna's dreamy voice rang out.

"No, not a kitten. How could a kitten of this age have so many Nargles?"

Luna took two quick steps forward, reaching out to pick up Dana Cat, but he dodged her with a nimble leap.

Dana turned back to look at Luna, his eyes filled with warning.

Luna clapped her hands.

"I've seen those eyes before! And that silver-white fur on its head! You're Emrys, the older student!"

Dana was genuinely surprised. In the original story, Luna Lovegood's intuition was already sharp, but he hadn't expected the real person to be even more outrageous.

Dana Cat made a small jump, leaping onto the stairs—even if Luna recognized him, he wouldn't admit it.

"Emrys, can you help me find my hair clip? It's a keepsake from my mother. Please!"

Dana Cat stopped in his tracks, completely caught by the keyword.

In the original timeline, Luna was bullied badly by her roommates, but the child never seemed to care.

He quickly reviewed Luna's background in his mind—this child had a tight mouth and was trustworthy.

Dana returned to his human form.

"Hello, Luna Lovegood."

"You know me?"

"I saw you at the Welcome Feast."

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone that you're an Animagus or that you're wandering around at night."

Dana tilted his head.

"Aren't you wandering around at night too?"

"No, I have a note from Professor Flitwick allowing me to look for something in the castle these days."

"Why don't you ask Professor Flitwick to use the Summoning Charm to bring your hair clip over?"

Luna shrugged slightly and said cheerfully:

"Professor Flitwick has to teach so many students! He doesn't have time to worry about me, so he doesn't know what my hair clip looks like, so naturally he can't summon it!"

Dana didn't quite understand what Luna was happy about. He closed his eyes and began to recall.

Luna wasn't wearing a hair clip at the Welcome Feast, and he had been focused on studying magic arrays and had little contact with other students…

Wait—he remembered. At the end of October, one of Luna's shoes had been stolen by her roommates, and she had been looking for it barefoot in the castle. At the time, Dana had noticed her because her bare foot had stepped on a visible magical circuit.

The hair clip she wore then… the image formed in his mind: a blue raven hair clip.

"Accio hairpin!"

After a moment, the hair clip flew down from a spiral staircase—it came from Ravenclaw Tower.

"Okay, put your hair clip away and go back quickly."

"I knew Emrys could help me! Thank you, senior!"

Dana smiled.

"You can call me Dana."

With that, Dana transformed back into Dana Cat and went downstairs.

Luna stroked the hair clip, feeling extremely happy. Then she looked at the slender cat shadow disappearing into the stairwell and muttered to herself:

"Half ice, half flame… Dana is so contradictory!"

Arriving in front of the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, Dana Cat transformed into Dana Ant and crawled in through the crack in the door.

Although it was already 9:30 p.m., Lockhart's office was brightly lit.

The great author was busy replying to fan mail.

However, unlike the original story, because of the "scandalous" incident at Count Dentis's castle, the letters were now a mix of praise and scorn—many criticized Lockhart for his failure to "control himself."

Lockhart casually skimmed the letters, sorting them into piles—fan mail to the left, hate mail to the right. He replied to the former and shredded the latter with little hesitation.

Dana Ant climbed onto the desk, watching Lockhart at work. He noted how Lockhart placed a pink envelope in the hate pile without opening it.

Dana glanced at the sender—Donna Lockhart.

Oh?

With great difficulty, Lockhart finished sorting and began replying.

Dana carefully studied Lockhart's handwriting and mimicked it with precision.

When Lockhart began writing his fifth letter, Dana climbed down from the desk, returned to human form behind Lockhart, and cast:

"Stupefy."

Lockhart collapsed face-first onto the desk.

Dana retrieved Donna's unopened letter and read it:

My dearest,

This is the fifteenth letter I've written to you since you went to Hogwarts. Why don't you reply to me?

Do you remember what I told you last month—that I'm pregnant?

I miss you so much, darling. It's my first time being a mother, and I don't know what to do.

You're knowledgeable and experienced, and you can definitely give me good advice, right?

Looking forward to your reply.

Your wife, Donna.

Dana shook his head. If this was how Lockhart behaved, how could Donna ever be willing to go to Azkaban in his place?

Dana resealed the letter with a clean "Reparo" and returned it to its place in the "ignored" pile.

He then carried Lockhart to the floor and took his place at the desk, penning a heartfelt reply in Lockhart's exact handwriting. Once finished, he sealed it in an envelope and slid it into the stack of replies.

Then he left, quietly returning to the dormitory.

The next day at noon, Donna Lockhart received a reply forwarded from Count Dentis's estate.

She had been living in Lockhart's house ever since the appearance of John Flint's corpse and the stolen tapestry at Avery Manor. The castle felt safer.

She eagerly opened the letter.

Donna, my love, greetings.

Being a professor at Hogwarts is exhausting. I barely have time to respond to fan letters, much less to my beloved wife.

Perhaps I mistakenly swept your earlier letters into the trash—I truly regret it.

But today I found your lovely pink envelope, and I'm so happy.

You're pregnant! Our first child! Thank you, my dearest.

Though I can't be at your side yet, I promise to make up for it after this one-year post at Hogwarts.

Our good days have only just begun!

Words can't express my joy.

Donna, you're too good. I love you so much.

Looking forward to your reply.

Your most beloved,

Gilderoy.

P.S. For future letters, send them to Count Dentis's castle—I have an owl forwarding system with him and will never miss it.

"Ah—!"

Donna leapt up with joy, then clutched her belly in panic, fearful she might hurt the baby.

"He said he loves me!"

Donna trembled, rereading the letter again and again.

The signature—it was his handwriting. No doubt about it.

Her anxiety and sorrow from the past two months melted away. She was the happiest woman in the world.

She pulled out her stationery, ready to reply, but hesitated.

"No, darling is so busy. I can't bother him too much," she whispered.

"A letter every half month… yes, that seems fair."
