Miri's Pov
The stairwell to the roof was mine. My place. I'd laid the barrier spell myself and woven it so tightly no teacher or nosy student had ever managed to pry through. A hidden sanctuary. And right now, I needed it more than air.
Heat burned under my skin, clawing through me in waves that made my thighs press together with every step. By the time I pushed Caius and Riven through the door, my hands shook with it. I was drenched in need, stomach twisted tight, the ache low and insistent, my wolf snarling just beneath the surface.
The door clicked shut. The barrier sealed with a faint shimmer. No one would come in. No one could.
I spun, grabbed Caius by his collar, and crushed my mouth to his. Desperation bled through every movement, the sharp drag of my teeth against his lip, the hungry press of my tongue. He groaned into me, kissed me back with a steadiness that anchored me instead of letting me spiral.
