The words left my mouth before I had a chance to truly think about what I was saying. But even if I had paused, taken a moment, weighed the consequences like I was supposed to... the result wouldn't have changed.
I couldn't leave them.
Not Riven. Not Caius.
Not when I didn't know where they were. If they were bound. Hurt. Bleeding. Tortured.
The thought of Caius chained, of Riven locked in some magically sealed room that stripped him of his strength—I couldn't let it stand. I'd do anything to get them back. I would get them back.
