The days had started bleeding into each other.
We trained from sunrise until the stars blinked out above us. Ate. Slept. Trained again. The day Velka and Kael would try to attack again wouldn't announce itself with a trumpet—no, it would sneak in like a thief, and so we prepared like people guarding a house we already knew would be broken into.
The Lunar Scythe felt different in my hands now. Lighter somehow—not just in weight, but in spirit. Ever since Calista blessed it, it had a hum to it, a subtle vibration under my fingers like it was alive again.
It took me a while to get used to wielding it again. I hadn't touched it since everything with Kael. Since I was kidnapped. Since Velka. Since the past.
It felt like years going through all that.
