Image At the End!

By the time I made it to the kitchen, the others were already gathered, and every single one of them looked like a walking corpse.
I grinned. "GOOD MORNING! HANGOVER IS A BITCH, RIGHT?"
Nejire nearly threw a spoon at me but settled for a long, suffering hush. Uraraka winced like her brain had decided to physically reject sound. Tsuyu, though? She was barely alive. I'd never seen a frog look so dehydrated before.
Mirko, completely unaffected, was already halfway through a plate of eggs like she hadn't spent last night wobbling. Ryukyu, sitting across from her, sipped her tea, unimpressed with everything.
Uraraka groaned, head in her hands. "Why did we drink so much?"
Nejire, face pressed against the table, mumbled, "Because it was fun…"
Tsuyu croaked. Literally.
I grabbed a bottle of water and dropped it in front of her. "Drink before you turn into jerky."
She reached out weakly, chugging it in three seconds.
Nejire peeked up, eyes squinting. "You are way too loud for this hour."
I leaned in. "Or you are just weak."
She flicked a sugar packet at me. It missed.
Mirko scoffed, shoveling another bite of food into her mouth. "Amateurs."
Uraraka rubbed her temples. "You were drunk too."
"Yeah, but I bounce back fast."
Tsuyu exhaled. "Not all of us have that luxury."
Ryukyu set her cup down. "That is why you should drink responsibly."
Nejire groaned. "But that is boring."
I sat down, grabbing a plate. "Anyway, how is everyone feeling about last night? Besides like shit."
Nejire hummed. "Fancy food was good."
"Price tags weren't," Uraraka muttered.
Tsuyu wiped her mouth. "You didn't even pay."
Uraraka groaned again. "I still felt it in my soul."
Mirko kicked my chair. "You enjoy yourself, troublemaker?"
I smirked. "More than I should've."
Nejire shot me a look. "What did you do?"
I took a slow sip of my coffee. "Nothing important."
Mirko glanced at me, then at the phone still in my pocket. "Nothing at all."
Nejire squinted. "You are lying."
I shoved a piece of toast in my mouth. "Who, me? Never."
Ryukyu sighed, already done with this conversation. "Patrols start in an hour. Eat quickly and get changed."
Tsuyu nodded. "Are we on the same routes?"
Ryukyu nodded. "Yes, but be ready for shifts. Crime's been heavier lately."
Mirko cracked her knuckles. "Good. I was getting bored."
Nejire slumped against the table. "Let's skip work and nap."
Ryukyu didn't even look at her. "No."
Uraraka yawned. "We should've just slept in."
Tsuyu glanced at me. "You up late too?"
"Not really."
Mirko snorted.
Nejire narrowed her eyes. "Liar."
I stretched. "You are all very nosy for hungover people."
Nejire pointed at me. "I will find out what you are hiding."
I patted her head. "Sure you will."
Mirko stood, tossing her plate in the sink. "Alright, hurry it up. I wanna punch something before noon."
Ryukyu sighed. "Eat first, fight later."
I finished my coffee and stood. "Alright, see you all in ten."
Nejire groaned, dragging herself up. "I hate responsibilities."
Uraraka stretched. "But you love money."
"Yeah, yeah."
Tsuyu finished her second bottle of water. "I am never drinking again."
Mirko laughed. "Yeah, you will."
I pointed at her. "She will."
Nejire grinned. "We all will."
Ryukyu stood. "You will all shut up and get to work."
I sighed. "Fine, fine."
The morning continued with the usual bullshit, and somehow, despite the chaos, we were still standing. The others groaned but started moving, slowly gathering their things and shoveling food into their mouths. Mirko stretched, cracking her neck. "If any of you slow me down today, I am leaving you behind."
Nejire, still half-asleep against the table, waved her off. "You would never."
Mirko smirked. "Bet."
Uraraka leaned against Tsuyu. "Why do we do this to ourselves?"
Tsuyu just sipped her water.
I got up and stretched. "Alright, let's go break some criminals."
Nejire muttered, "You mean break their spirits."
Mirko clapped my back hard enough to rattle my bones. "Same thing."
Ryukyu sighed. "Just don't cause too much damage."
I grinned. "No promises."
Another day, another dose of chaos.
The next morning started like any other… cold, slow, and already annoying. Breakfast was the usual chaos Nejire latched onto my side like a parasite, and Mirko eating like she hadn't had a meal in three days. Tsuyu and Ryukyu were the only ones remotely normal, but even Ryukyu looked like she was mentally preparing for some kind of bullshit.
Watching them flop around like hungover zombies yesterday was art But now everyone was back to full power… and already too loud for my liking.
Nejire perched on the counter like a storm, scrolling her phone. "Ryuu, when is the last time you cleaned your room?"
"Why?" I asked suspiciously.
"Because I am staging an intervention later."
"Touch my room and you will vanish without a trace," I said flatly.
She smirked. "You are not scary."
"I am terrifying. Ask Tsuyu."
Tsuyu didn't even look up from peeling an orange. "You are moderately concerning."
"See? Fear incarnate."
Uraraka, tying her hair back, raised a brow. "Fear incarnate wouldn't scream when Mirko tries to steal his food."
Mirko smirked around a piece of toast. "Hah! She got you there."
"That was a tactical yell," I muttered.
Ryukyu, calm as always, flipped through her tablet at the table. "Focus. Patrol assignments are coming in today."
Nejire waved a hand. "You love us."
Ryukyu sipped her tea. "Love is a strong word."
I leaned back in my chair, eyeing the group as they squabbled. The calm before the storm. It always felt like this. Which meant something dumb was about to hit us.
Sure enough, Mirko's phone buzzed. She glanced at it, eyes narrowing.
Yup, knew it.
Then the news hit.
"Son of a bitch," Mirko muttered, setting her phone down on the counter. "Trigger is back."
Everyone looked up.
Tsuyu tilted her head. "Wasn't it supposed to be gone?"
"Yeah," I said, scrolling through the article. "Yakuza went down, drug went with em. At least, that was the plan."
Ryukyu leaned against the counter, arms crossed. "Seems like someone picked up where they left off."
Nejire peered over my shoulder, reading the article. "Could just be leftover stock getting sold off."
My grin faded. "This isn't just leftover stock. Someone is cooking up a full comeback. And if they pull it off…" I trailed off, tapping the phone screen. "Shit is gonna get ugly."
Uraraka frowned. "How bad is it?"
I scrolled down. "Not widespread yet, but it is getting traction. Some dumbass in Osaka got caught trying to smuggle a shipment, and another was intercepted on the docks. They don't know where it is coming from yet."
Ryukyu was already on her phone, calling someone. Probably getting a direct update.
Nejire exhaled. "Great. More bullshit to deal with."
"Wouldn't be Japan without it," I muttered.
A few minutes later, Ryukyu hung up. "Selkie put in a request for assistance. He is tracking a group trying to smuggle chemicals out of Japan. If they make it out, shutting this down will get a lot harder."
"Where?" Mirko asked.
"Verize Islands."
Mirko whistled. "That is a lot of water to cover."
Ryukyu nodded. "That is why he needs help. His ship can't monitor the whole area. My Quirk gives us an aerial advantage."
I leaned back. "So, we going?"
Ryukyu nodded. "Nejire, Uraraka, Tsuyu, you're with me."
Mirko snorted. "So what, me and the brat hold the fort?"
Ryukyu gave her a long look. "If I let you two to your own devices, I will come back to half the city in flames."
Nejire grinned. "She has a point."
Mirko rolled her eyes. "We are not that bad."
I looked at her.
She looked at me.
Yeah, we were absolutely that bad.
Ryukyu sighed. "Just don't cause problems while Im gone."
Mirko smirked. "No promises."
Nejire patted my shoulder. "Don't let her drag you into too much trouble."
Mirko snorted. "You are talking like he is not the one who starts half the shit."
"Exactly," Ryukyu muttered.
Uraraka stood, adjusting her jacket. "When do we leave?"
"Now," Ryukyu said, already heading toward the door.
Tsuyu grabbed her bag, nodding. "Understood."
Nejire wiggled her fingers at me. "Don't miss me too much!"
Mirko stretched. "Nope. Just gonna enjoy the peace and quiet."
Nejire grinned. "Awww, you will miss me!"
I leaned against the counter, watching them go. "Try not to die."
Nejire blew me a kiss. "You too!"
The door shut behind them.
Silence.
Mirko exhaled, cracking her neck. "Alright. What is the plan?"
I shrugged. "Dunno. Never been left unsupervised this long."
This was either going to end in a crime spree, an arrest, or me getting punted through a wall. Maybe all three.
Mirko smirked. "Wanna go fuck shit up?"
I stretched. "You had me at 'wanna.'"
The day had been absolute bullshit. Just me and Mirko covering Ryukyu's turf, running on fumes, dealing with dumbass criminals, and having zero backup. By the time we finally made it back, I felt like I had been hit by a train. Twice.
I didn't bother with anything except a shower, barely drying off before throwing myself onto the bed, completely naked, not giving a single fuck. The moment my head hit the pillow, I was ready to pass out.
Then the door creaked open.
I didn't even need to look. "Mirko, if you are here to fight, I swear to god…"
She walked in like she owned the place, shutting the door behind her. "Tch. You are too dead for that."
I cracked one eye open. She had already ditched her hero gear, standing there in a tank top and shorts, arms crossed like she was debating whether to say something or just do whatever the hell she wanted. Knowing her? Second option.
"Move," she muttered, not waiting for an answer as she yanked the blanket over and flopped down next to me.
I groaned. "Mirko…"
"I am tired, you are warm, and I don't give a shit. Deal with it."
She latched onto me like it was the most normal thing in the world, throwing a leg over mine, arms locking around my torso like I was a body pillow.
I sighed. "You do know I am not drunk tonight, right?"
"So?"
I shifted slightly. "You are hot as hell."
She scoffed. "Your bat poses no danger to me, brat."
I huffed a laugh, too damn tired to argue. "You say that now."
She didn't respond, already settled in like she was planning to sleep right there. Not my problem. If she wanted to risk it, that was on her. I shifted a little, resting my head against her chest, letting the exhaustion finally drag me under.
Whatever. Future me could deal with this shit.
Well, future me was one lucky, lucky bastard.
