Chapter 206 - The Angel Nine Trials

Spirit Hall, Elder Hall

A massive statue of an angel stood at the center of the Elder Hall, radiating an aura of sanctity, nobility, and authority. Compared to the angel statues scattered throughout Spirit City, this one was distinctly different, as if imbued with divine power, ready to come to life at any moment.

In front of the angel statue stood a tall figure dressed in a white robe, his silver hair neatly combed back. Though only his back was visible, the terrifying aura he exuded was second only to the angel statue itself.

Moments later, another figure entered the hall. She had a graceful figure, wearing an elegant golden dress, exuding poise and dignity.

As she approached the angel statue and saw the figure standing before it, her eyes moistened, and she spoke in a choked voice:

"Grandfather, I've come back to see you!"

Hearing her voice, the figure in front of the angel statue trembled slightly before slowly turning around, revealing a face that, though aged, still retained a striking handsomeness. It was clear that this man had been exceptionally handsome in his youth.

With a gentle smile, he said:

"Xue'er, you've suffered all these years. Grandfather has been waiting for you to return."

This girl was none other than Qian Renxue, who had returned to the Spirit Hall. After changing her clothes, she had come to pay her respects to her grandfather, the Grand Elder of the Elder Hall, Qian Daoliu.

In Qian Renxue's memory, only two people had truly cared for her: her father and her grandfather. After her father's death, her grandfather was the only family she had left.

Seeing Qian Daoliu, Qian Renxue didn't hesitate to share her joy:

"Grandfather, my father's vengeance has finally been fulfilled. I plan to hang Tang Hao's corpse on the walls of Spirit City—first, to honor my father, and second, to serve as a warning to those who dare oppose us."

Hearing this, a strange glint flashed in Qian Daoliu's eyes. He knew the truth—Tang Hao had only severely injured his son, Qian Xunji, while it was actually Bibi Dong who had dealt the fatal blow.

Because he knew the truth and out of respect for Tang Chen, Qian Daoliu had never gone all out to kill Tang Hao. This had allowed Tang Hao to escape multiple times and roam free for over a decade.

In the end, Tang Hao had died at the hands of his granddaughter. That was a matter of skill, and even if Tang Chen were to return, he couldn't blame Qian Daoliu for it.

Qian Daoliu stepped forward and looked deeply at his granddaughter, saying:

"Xue'er, now that Tang Hao is dead, you can finally let go of this inner demon. It was worth sending Qian Jun and Jiang Mo to assist you. With their combined strength, taking down Tang Hao was never in doubt."

Qian Renxue's eyes sparkled as she replied:

"Grandfather, while Elders Qian Jun and Jiang Mo are indeed powerful, Tang Hao wasn't killed by them. He was killed by someone else—a person I consider the most talented soul master I've ever met."

"The first time we met, I was already a Soul King, while he was just a Great Soul Master. Over the years, the gap between us kept narrowing. Now, although I'm not sure of his exact spirit power level, he's definitely above level 95, wields two divine artifacts, and is around 18 years old, certainly no older than 20."

"After returning, I deeply felt my own inadequacies and wanted to improve my strength as quickly as possible. Over the years, I've been fully focused on seizing power in the Heaven Dou Empire, but my own cultivation has fallen far behind."

Hearing this, Qian Daoliu's eyes widened. In all his years, he had never heard of such an outrageous soul master—someone around 18 years old, with spirit power above level 95 and wielding two divine artifacts.

Qian Daoliu placed his hands on Qian Renxue's shoulders and spoke with utmost seriousness:

"Xue'er, are you telling the truth? Is there really such a soul master? Who is he?"

Seeing Qian Daoliu's seriousness, Qian Renxue recounted the entire story, including the fact that she had promised Chen Yuan an unconditional favor in the future.

Finally, Qian Renxue added:

"Grandfather, regarding Chen Yuan, I hope you won't interfere. Once I improve my strength, I'll handle this matter myself."

Qian Daoliu's expression turned grave. Chen Yuan's appearance indicated that another deity had begun making moves, aiming to bring forth a new god to the Douluo Continent—the first in 20,000 years.

Now, Qian Daoliu deeply regretted his past decisions. After his son's death, for the sake of Qian Renxue and the Spirit Hall, he had spared Bibi Dong.

As a result, after Bibi Dong became the Pope, she sent Qian Renxue to the Heaven Dou Empire to carry out some plan to usurp the throne, wasting her most crucial years for cultivation.

Back then, he should have been more resolute and kept Qian Renxue by his side, nurturing her carefully. By now, she might have already been qualified to inherit the Angel God's divine position.

Once a god descended to the mortal world, even emperors would bow in reverence. What did it matter if she became the Heaven Dou Emperor? In the face of a god, she would still be nothing more than an ant. Thinking this, Qian Daoliu couldn't help but feel intense regret.

With a forced smile, Qian Daoliu said:

"Xue'er, since you want to grow stronger, Grandfather will do everything to help you. Come with me and kneel before the angel statue."

Qian Daoliu led Qian Renxue forward, and they both knelt before the angel statue.

Qian Daoliu clasped his hands together in front of his chest, his face filled with piety and reverence, as he prayed:

"Great Angel God, your loyal servant prays here, hoping you will bestow your divine power!"

Now that another deity had made their move, if an Angel God's successor didn't appear, the Angel God's faith on the continent would undoubtedly be challenged.

Sure enough, the angel statue began to emit a golden light. The light gathered at its forehead and shot out a golden beam, enveloping Qian Renxue. Nine golden screens of light formed around her.

Qian Renxue looked at the nine screens of light, initially feeling confused but soon gaining some understanding. Her eyes shone with divine light as the nine screens overlapped and merged into her forehead, leaving behind a small angel mark.

Qian Daoliu's face lit up with joy, and he nearly danced with excitement. If it had been the Angel Eight Trials, Qian Renxue would have only been able to become a servant of the Angel God, like him. But with the Angel Nine Trials, Qian Renxue had the chance to become the true Angel God.

Suppressing his excitement, Qian Daoliu spoke as calmly as possible:

"Xue'er, you don't need to return to the Heaven Dou Empire. That plan to usurp the throne is no longer necessary. Stay by my side, and I will assist you in passing the Angel Nine Trials, allowing the glory of the Angel God to descend upon the continent once more!"

Qian Renxue frowned slightly but soon relaxed.

Abandoning the plan to usurp the throne meant negating 20 years of her efforts. But now, she found worldly power utterly unappealing. What she truly wanted was to stand proudly before Chen Yuan.
