The carriage stopped in front of a small, quiet house on the edge of the village.
"We've arrived, my lord," the driver said.
Edward nodded slowly, stepped out, and walked up to the wooden door. He knocked gently. A few seconds later, the door opened, revealing a kind-looking woman with a warm face and a gentle smile. Her belly was rounded with pregnancy.
"Ah… you must be the doctor," Edward said, slightly surprised.
"Yes," she said softly. "Come in."
He entered and looked around the modest home. A small clinic area was set up inside, with a single examination chair and some old wooden furniture. She gestured to the sofa, and Edward sat down while she settled in beside him.
"So," she said kindly, "Lady Helena told me everything about you. May I ask—do you truly want to marry Charles?"
Edward's face softened, and he nodded. "Yes… I love him. My heart tells me so."
