Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Oscar, the Honorary “Nice Guy”

"Who the hell do you think you are?"

Meng Yiran's temper was never great to begin with. She had already been holding back when Yu Xiaogang called her "irrelevant," but now that he was belittling her as if she were worthless, there was no way she would let it slide.

"Miss, don't misunderstand. Xiaogang didn't mean anything by that. I approve your admission into Shrek Academy."

Seeing that tensions were flaring up again, Flender quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

In his heart, he couldn't help blaming his old friend. At least pretend to be polite in front of others. Who wouldn't be pissed after hearing something like that?

Tang San had also started holding a grudge against Meng Yiran. In his mind, anyone who disrespected his teacher was already walking the Path to Death.¹

Yu Xiaogang, however, remained completely unbothered by Meng Yiran's outburst. After all the insults and slander he'd endured over the years, this was nothing. He retained his usual holier-than-thou demeanor as he looked around and said flatly:

"My name is Yu Xiaogang. Starting tomorrow, I will be responsible for teaching all of you."

"Regardless of whatever special treatment Dean Flender promised certain individuals among you, under my instruction, everyone will be treated the same."

"I have my own teaching principles. Once our official lessons begin tomorrow, I will outline my rules. If you wish to become stronger, you will obey every single one of them."

"Freakin' lunatic."

Su Xiaoqi cursed and left without looking back. He had more important things to do than deal with Yu Xiaogang. He'd wait until tomorrow to publicly slap that guy in the face.

Zhu Zhuqing, Ning Rongrong, and Meng Yiran didn't spare Yu Xiaogang a single glance either—they simply followed Su Xiaoqi and left.

Just as the four of them reached the academy gates, Oscar suddenly ran up behind them. "Rongrong, wait!"

Ning Rongrong didn't need to guess what he was about to say. She turned to face him directly and said:

"Oscar, you're a good person. But I'm not the girl you once thought I was. You should find someone else—I wish you happiness."

Su Xiaoqi stared blankly. Seriously? This chick just dropped the ultimate "nice guy" card out of nowhere. Worse still, the way she said it could easily be misunderstood.

Sure enough, Oscar's eyes turned bloodshot. He roared, "Did that bastard Dai Weisi do something to you?!"

At first, Ning Rongrong didn't quite grasp what Oscar meant. Her original intent had been to let him know that Su Xiaoqi had already corrupted her, and she was too far gone to ever walk the same path as Oscar.

But as an experienced "lady with game," she quickly caught on. To completely shut down any lingering hopes Oscar might have, she tearfully said:

"Oscar, if it hadn't been for Zhuqing and Yiran talking me through everything these past few days, I'd have lost all will to live. I was finally starting to forget everything—and then you brought it all back."

"That Dai Weisi didn't just make me do that... he made me do that too. But what infuriates me the most is—I actually felt pleasure from it."

"So please, don't ever look for me again. I'm not worthy of your affection."

After finishing her performance, Ning Rongrong ran off immediately. She had to—any longer and she would've burst out laughing.²

"Oh my god... Ning Rongrong, you damn genius."

Su Xiaoqi had no idea where she'd picked up lines like that, but he had to admit—she'd outdone even his most shameless moments. Ruthless didn't even begin to cover it.

Oscar stared after her, torn between chasing and retreating, his heart in shambles. He looked up to the sky and roared, "DAI WEISI! I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU!"

Meanwhile, Su Xiaoqi waved goodbye to the girls and left on his own. That afternoon, he had plans—to rack up some points and help Zhu Zhuqing boost her strength as quickly as possible.

After all, the upcoming Alabasta arc would be far more dangerous than Cocoyashi Village. Even if they were just there to leech points, he couldn't afford to risk their lives.²

His next destination: the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. He was finally going to harvest those celestial herbs fair and square.

Although Sunset Forest was a bit of a distance from Soto City, that didn't matter to Su Xiaoqi. After three days of 10x gravity training, his flight speed while using Explosive Aura had skyrocketed.

The anime never specified the exact coordinates of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, but it did mention it was located deep within Sunset Forest between cliff walls, and that Dugu Bo had laid poisonous formations all around it.

With these landmarks in mind, Su Xiaoqi quickly located a matching site from the sky above the forest.

"Yep, this is it."

Looking down at the glowing Ice and Fire spring, Su Xiaoqi grinned. He used his aura to form a protective shield around himself and descended through the outer poison mist.

Upon entering the spring area, Su Xiaoqi strolled around with his eyes gleaming—rare herbs blanketed the ground. To him, every one of these plants screamed free points.

Unfortunately, Dugu Bo was nowhere in sight. Su Xiaoqi had been ready for a fight too.

He figured that with his current strength, he could easily take down a Titled Douluo. Even the Titan Giant Ape probably wouldn't be much of a match anymore.

After all, while most power scaling systems in anime are linear, Dragon Ball's is exponential.

When Goku fought Raditz, his base combat power was around 500. A year later, against Vegeta, it had jumped to 8,000. And since half of that time was spent training on Snake Way, that meant he gained 7,500 in just six months.³

Then, from the Vegeta fight to landing on Namek, his base power jumped more than tenfold in less than a month.

And once he turned Super Saiyan? Combat power became a number too large to matter.⁴

Now compare that to the power system in Douluo Dalu? Please. It's a low-tier fantasy setup. Even with a conservative estimate, 300 power units from Dragon Ball would be enough to steamroll this world.⁴

"Eh, forget it. If he's not here, he's not here. Time to start farming points."

While Su Xiaoqi cheerfully gathered resources, back at Shrek Academy, Tang San was struck with a familiar sensation—the same feeling he had when the Man-Faced Demon Spider was taken from him.

Only this time, it was even stronger.

He couldn't understand why his body had been reacting like this lately. He had already absorbed his third spirit ring, another Man-Faced Demon Spider, albeit a slightly weaker one—only 1,100 years.

"Maybe Teacher will know what's wrong with me."

Unable to figure it out himself, Tang San decided to seek guidance from his knowledgeable teacher, Yu Xiaogang.

Meanwhile, Su Xiaoqi had finished collecting all the spirit herbs. But he wasn't particularly thrilled with the haul.

Although these herbs were considered rare treasures in the world of Douluo Dalu, their resale value in the system's shop wasn't great.

Aside from the Yearning Heartbroken Red, Beautiful Silk Tulip, and Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, which he kept for future use, the rest were barely worth enough to scrape together 30,000 points.

"As expected of this fantasy-tier sewer of a world... Robbing Tang San still pays better."¹

Su Xiaoqi clicked his tongue and messaged Zhu Zhuqing to have dinner ready. Then he blasted off from the forest.

Back at the Rose Hotel, Ning Rongrong was practically fuming as she watched Su Xiaoqi wolf down food in front of her.

"Eat, eat, eat! That's all you do! Even pigs don't eat as much as you!"

Zhu Zhuqing had already told her and Meng Yiran that Su Xiaoqi would be bringing them something after dinner. Meng Yiran was new and didn't know what to expect, but Ning Rongrong knew—whatever Su Xiaoqi had in store, it was always something amazing.

After devouring everything on the table, Su Xiaoqi wiped his mouth and looked at Ning Rongrong. "Rongrong, considering how you just cursed me in your heart, I'm taking back your share."

Ning Rongrong: ???

How the hell did he know what I was thinking?! Did he get even more overpowered?!
