Chapter 37 - Thirty Seven

The eastern skies wept with a dull gray that morning, as if the heavens themselves mourned the young woman laid upon the wooden pyre. The pack grounds were unusually silent, save for the crackle of torches being lit around the edges of the courtyard. Pack members in both forms gathered, somber faces lined in grief, fear, and whispers of guilt.

Everyone has been roused out of whatever activity they were engaged in. The Alpha had insisted on a strict attendance, if Arin had not been honored in life, she would be honored in death. So they all gathered, mournful for the young woman who had been with them for just a few moons.
