Chapter 158 - Why?

Hmm, hmm.

Bai Ningning slept soundly. After a full day of being out and about, followed by a little bit of alcohol at home, the mix of exhaustion and mild intoxication resulted in just four words—out like a light.

Lingyin carried her into her own bedroom, walking slowly. The fiery girl had a strong grip, easily lifting the petite Bai Ningning, who was only slightly heavier than a pillow. Each step on the tiled floor felt like stepping on Lingyin's own heart, thumping away.

Carefully placing Bai Ningning down on the bed, Lingyin stood by the window and took a deep breath.

So fragrant.

Bai Ningning slept soundly, sweet and peaceful. Though she had collapsed onto someone else's bed, she showed no sign of vigilance. Her pillow rose and fell gently in rhythm with her soft, adorable breaths.

The scenery of life is like the tides of the sea. Sometimes fierce, sometimes... even fiercer.

She really didn't seem like she would wake up anytime soon.

Lingyin gently bit the tip of her tongue—alert and composed, calm yet exhilarated, like an assassin in the night, a lone rogue striking from the shadows.

Her grip could be firm or delicate—just like a skilled assassin who could execute a swift, lethal strike or slowly chip away at their target.

And Bai Ningning was completely unaware, as if she had activated a skill that made her feel safe and secure.

However, Lingyin quietly, under the cover of night, had silently maneuvered herself into a position where she could strike.

In her dreams, Bai Ningning felt something unusual, murmuring a couple of times, but ultimately did not open her eyes.

But her movement startled Lingyin, making her hesitate to move for a moment.

With the three-piece set of Gwen, how could Lingyin compete? She quickly hid in the smoke. As for the weapon that had already been E'd out, she decided to leave it there for now.

After a while, she carefully observed and found that Bai Ningning seemed to be sleeping even more comfortably. After all, the probing attack was akin to a tickle for Bai Ningning.

The actual sensation... was indeed just that, a bit ticklish.

So Lingyin relaxed, maximizing the advantages of her energy hero. She wasn't Qin Yue; when her blue bar ran out, she couldn't use her skills and had to return home to soak in the fountain. Lingyin could quickly recover her energy bar, unleashing skills one after another, never running out.

The single damage was like scraping, but it didn't matter as long as she kept scraping; eventually, the health would go down.

By the late night, Bai Ningning was sleeping deeper, but it wasn't as comfortable as before.

Her brows furrowed, cheeks puffed, and she kept murmuring in her throat, as if her dreams were not going well.

And what was Lingyin doing?

Don't ask; just know it's a chaotic killing spree!

......

The next morning, light finally arrived. Aunt Zou, eager to protect her master, called an electrician early in the morning.

"Yours seems to be just a simple tripped circuit, nothing damaged," the electrician said as he pulled the switch up. "All done."

Qin Yue looked at the light in the room behind her, a bit in disbelief: "You're saying the electrical equipment is perfectly fine, it's just a simple…"

"Tripped circuit," the electrician confirmed, "This thing just suddenly tripped. There are many reasons for this, but it's nothing serious, and it rarely happens, so don't worry about it."

Qin Yue's eyelids twitched: "Don't worry about it?"

Qin Xin walked out from the adjacent room, silently pinching her fingers.

She knew her sister couldn't handle it—having let Bai Ningning stay out overnight at such a great cost, only to find it was just a simple tripped circuit.

Well, simple in terms of operation; just pull the switch down and it's done, but it's not that simple.

"Sister, it's so easily fixed, isn't that a good thing?" Qin Xin yawned and stretched comfortably. "Thanks to the power outage, I had a good sleep."

But she wondered how Senior Ningning was doing, whether she slept well.

Qin Yue was also thinking similar thoughts, wanting to know how Bai Ningning was, so she hurried back to her room and took out her phone.

Hmm, Bai Ningning, who usually stays online on QQ during the day, was not online, so she must still be sleeping.

However, another online friend sent a message.

[00]: YNYN! I'm so happy! Thank you so much!

[YN]: What's up, did you get through?

[00]: Sort of… anyway, I used the method you taught me.

After all, it was just a shallow water battle; she got through, but not completely.

[YN]: How does it feel?

[00]: Amazing! Really, really amazing!

The excitement and joy hidden in the words touched Qin Yue as well.

This kid, really, just like her own first time.

[YN]: Then why didn't you rest a bit more? Why are you up so early?

[00]: I haven't slept yet, just wanted to report to you, now I'm going to sleep.

With a click, the avatar turned gray; the online friend went to sleep.

Qin Yue put down her phone, shaking her head and sighing at today's youth.

......

Bai Ningning woke up leisurely around noon.

As a homebody, just walking around the convention yesterday had been a huge amount of exercise. Add in some fruit soaked in alcohol after returning home, and she had slept like a log.

The only issue was the dream she had—one of those embarrassing, hard-to-talk-about dreams, the kind exclusive to adolescence.

Bai Ningning opened her eyes and realized that, as a grand aircraft carrier, her sealed chamber had somehow sprung a leak.

It might be due to the dream of youth.

"That shouldn't be," the girl rubbed her head, "Could it be that I haven't... for too long?"

Maybe, it had been several days since the last time she fought with Qin Yue. It seemed that after returning home, she would have to take the initiative to ask the big sister to take care of things.

Slowly getting up from the bedside, Bai Ningning suddenly felt something was off. Looking down, she realized she was wearing a pink and white outfit that didn't belong to her, with a few lines of text on it.

The pillow blocked her view, so she lifted the hem of the shirt to take a closer look. It was a shoulder-baring T-shirt from Izumi Saki, no wonder it looked familiar.

Her hot pants had also been taken off, and for some reason, her pillow and thigh felt a bit uncomfortable.

How to put it, it felt a bit numb, like someone had scraped her skin. But after all, it was too pale, and nothing could be seen on the surface.

"Bai Ningning, you're awake."

From the other side of the bed, Lingyin crawled out from under the covers, blinking her eyes hard to force herself to wake up.

"Yeah, I'm awake," Bai Ningning tugged at the hem of her shirt, "Did you help me change clothes?"

"Yes, you ate strawberries last night, and suddenly collapsed while eating, getting some juice on your clothes," Lingyin had prepared this answer in advance, "I was worried you wouldn't be comfortable sleeping, so I changed you. This outfit is a cosplay costume I've collected, and I haven't worn it before."

"I see, thank you, president."

Bai Ningning thanked her first, then touched the pillow: "But why do I feel a bit... numb here and on my thigh?"
