Chapter 47 - What’s Going On?

Both Qin Dad and Qin Mom were very much looking forward to this trip. Unfortunately, Qin Dad had something to do today and had to go out, so he couldn't come to visit, leaving the heavy burden on Qin Mom alone.

As Qin Dad said, misfortune may be a blessing in disguise, and blessings may depend on misfortune. The eldest daughter, Qin Yue, was deceived by a little green tea girl; although she had invested a lot of emotions and a little money, it also gave her a chance to repair her relationship with her family.

Think about it; she had just been deceived emotionally and was feeling empty inside, needing her family's love to nurture her. At this moment, the second daughter, Qin Xin, arrived, and the subtle bond between sisters was becoming better in life.

How wonderful that would be.

If there is a good beginning, it is equivalent to having succeeded halfway. Therefore, this visit was of great importance. Although Qin Dad couldn't come, he repeatedly reminded Qin Mom before leaving to lay a good foundation.

Qin Mom patted her chest and assured him that she had prepared for this for a long time and would handle it well.

Here we go!

"…So, where are they?"

At 9:30 in the morning, neither too early nor too late, even on a weekend, it was about time to wake up.

However, the living room of Shuiyue Tingyuan was quiet, with no young ladies in sight, only two or three maids standing nearby, looking uneasy.

"Madam," one maid stepped forward, "please have some tea."

She carefully served the tea while maintaining a smile.

Qin Mom set the teacup aside and looked around: "I won't drink tea; where are the girls?"

Aunt Zou stood respectfully nearby: "A few are working in the garden; should I go call them?"

"I'm asking about those two at home, not where the other maids are," Qin Mom couldn't hold back anymore, "Yueyue and Xinxin, where are they?"

A maid instinctively replied, "The second young lady is probably still sleeping; the eldest young lady should be tasting tea… or lost in the aftertaste of the tea."

"Huh?"

"No, no, I was just talking nonsense." The young maid quickly lowered her head, "I don't know either."

Could they have gone out to play? That shouldn't be the case; visiting on a Sunday had been agreed upon long ago, they wouldn't just run off.

The maids trembled, no one dared to answer. Qin Mom frowned and turned her gaze to Aunt Zou.

It was one thing for the others to play ostrich, but you, the head maid, can't just stay silent.

"You tell me, where are they?"

"The second young lady should be sleeping," Aunt Zou answered, bracing herself.

Qin Mom asked, "What about Yueyue?"

"The eldest young lady is also sleeping."

Qin Mom was so angry she laughed: "If they're both sleeping, why didn't you say so together? Is there a difference?"

Are they both just jujube trees here?

Aunt Zou didn't respond, thinking there must be a difference.

"It's almost ten o'clock; how can they still be sleeping?" Qin Mom asked, "What on earth is going on?"

Aunt Zou didn't need to answer because at that moment, Qin Xin happened to come out, rubbing her eyes.

She groggily saw several people standing in the living room, but there was no sister or senior, only her mom and the maids.

Right, mom seemed to have mentioned that they were coming to visit today.

"Mom," Qin Xin yawned, "good morning."

Qin Mom frowned: "Did you not sleep well last night? Why are you getting up so late, and looking so sleepy?"

"Yeah, I went to bed pretty late."

Qin Xin suddenly collapsed onto the sofa, rubbing her temples to ease the tension. "I stayed up too late studying."

In truth, she had finished reviewing by nine in the evening. But then she had spent some time lingering outside her sister's bedroom door, listening for a while… and afterward, she had spent five hours lost in thought.

She really couldn't take it anymore.

"Studying? So late?"

Qin's mother became anxious upon hearing this. "Xin Xin, my child, it's not easy for you to come to your sister's house. You two sisters haven't seen each other in years. It would be great to sit down and chat together. Why do you have to study your textbooks?"

Do you really like studying that much?

Qin Xin weakly lifted her eyelids. "There's nothing to talk about."

"How could there be nothing to talk about? You can talk about anything," Qin's mother said earnestly. "If nothing else, you can play some games together."

Anything that can enhance their relationship is good, even watching a TV show together.

Qin Xin rolled her eyes. "There's nothing to do together, and besides, my sister has her own things to do."

"That's not true," Qin's mother firmly denied. "She's on vacation right now."

She had inquired about it before coming.

"Vacation only means she's not working," Qin Xin's tone was somewhat complicated. "There are still things to do in life."

"How could that be? There can't be that many things," Qin's mother stood up and glanced around. "By the way, where is your sister?"

Qin Xin replied with two words: "Sleeping."

Qin's mother went straight to Qin Yue's bedroom. "It's almost noon, why is she still sleeping? Who is she sleeping with?"

Aunt Zou was startled by this situation and quickly stopped her. "Madam, the young lady had some other matters last night and dealt with them late, maybe she didn't sleep at all. She probably didn't know you were coming; it wasn't intentional."

"But I told her in advance."

At this moment, Qin Xin finally reacted a bit. "My sister has been too busy these days, often not around. I couldn't find a chance to talk to her."

Qin's mother finally understood what was going on. It turned out the child didn't know she was coming today, stayed up all night, and was now catching up on sleep.

"This child," she focused on another issue, "no matter how busy she is, she should at least entertain her own sister when she comes."

It was hard to get a weekend off from school, a perfect time to cultivate sisterly bonds, so how could she be so busy?

"Forget it, since she's catching up on sleep, let her sleep a bit longer," Qin's mother said. "Let's watch some TV and wait for her to wake up."

Everyone went about their own business. Qin Xin sat on the sofa, chatting with her mother intermittently, occasionally dozing off.

And so, the morning passed, and noon arrived.

"...Still not up? Let's tidy up and have lunch, leaving some for Yueyue."

At three in the afternoon, it was tea time.

"...Let's drink first and leave a cup for Yueyue."

At six in the evening, there was finally some noise coming from the hallway.

...

"Ha, hmm."

After an intense naval battle, Bai Ningning successfully used damage control and regained her mobility. She picked up her phone and saw that it was already the next evening.

Turning to look beside her, her older sister was sleeping soundly, showing no signs of waking up.

So, I've warned you many times in advance, why are you still so stubborn? At this rate, Ningning is really worried about your health.

But for now, let's go out and fill our stomachs.

Bai Ningning put on her cool little pajamas and slowly pushed the door open to walk outside.

The living room was quite lively today, with not only Qin Xin, the younger sister, and the maid, but also a well-maintained woman.

Swish—!

When Bai Ningning entered the living room, all eyes turned to her.

…What's going on?
