Just as Shigaraki was about to pull the trigger, there was a sound that interrupted him and took his attention away from Aizawa. It sounded like an object approaching at high speed. However, they could not tell where it was coming from.
It was like the wind or the air itself was whistling a tune that was enough to distract Shigaraki and confuse him long enough not to pull the trigger.
"What is that–"
Unfortunately, before he could even get to finish his words, he saw a blue and black blur that was then followed by a sudden and explosive shockwave that launched him and Kurogiri several meters. His body rolled onto the floor like a can that was kicked down the street, and along the way, he lost the grip on his gun.
The shockwave kicked up dust into the air, shook the area for a few seconds, and created a smoke screen that clouded most of the central plaza. Most of the villains were blown away, scattering them across the area.
Once the shockwave was over, an eerie and tense silence settled over the central plaza as the dust slowly settled and revealed the individual that caused the small bout of chaos.
As the dust settled, it revealed the Nomu with its hand out grabbing the offending fist of the assailant. Its hand had let go of Aizawa in favor of catching Taro's hand that had formed into a fist and aimed to shatter its beak.
"ho! you didn't even slide back, I was banking on my momentum and power to send you flying"
Taro commented with a grin on his face. He couldn't help but feel he was right by coming here. Otherwise, Mr Aizawa would have been dead.
"You OK, Mr Aizawa?"
The young lad asked, his gaze shifting from the Nomu to the man on the ground who seemed to be coughing.
"No kid, that shockwave nearly made me pass out, and get out of here. This isn't a fight you can win!!"
"Come on, have some faith"
Taro said before he swung his free hand and struck the Nomu with enough power to shatter bones and send it flying back meters, however the monster merely jerked back, as if it was a regular human being shoved by an aggressor.
"Whoa!"
He exclaimed in surprise, and Aizawa was quick to roll out from underneath the two and back on his feet. He, too, was also surprised by the fact Taro's punch practically did nothing.
'So that's how they plan to kill All Might'
"Taro let's retreat. You can't beat this thing. You're still a student, you can't handle something like this"
Aizawa shouted, warning the young lad. Seeing the Nomu take on a punch that could probably shatter the bones of Normal people had made Aizawa realise that his earlier assessment of the Nomu being unable to kill All Might may have been flawed.
"That remains to be seen"
Clenching his fist hard, Taro struck out once more, summoning every ounce of strength he had and struck Nomu with it and sent it sliding back a couple of metres; however the Nomu took no damage at all, no bones were broken and no skin was cut, it was as if it wasn't hit at all.
"See, it ain't all that tough, I got this!"
He said with a clenched fist and his gaze still focused on Nomu. He portrayed a confidence that told him he was assured of his victory. The fact it took two of his attacks without taking damage meant he could let loose.
Despite Taro having thrown two attacks, the monster still did not attack.
Aizawa had wanted to object to Taro's confident declaration. However, Shigaraki beat him to it.
"So you passed my master's test, but don't think you beating a failed experiment makes you strong enough to beat Nomu"
Shigaraki spoke, as he dusted himself off and picked up one of the hands and placed it back on his face, most of the hands on his body were blown off and scattered throughout the plaza thanks to the shockwave leaving only the hand that had been covering his face.
Aizawa on the other hand was quick to take note of the Shigaraki's words, making mental notes to remember the words 'failed experiment' and 'Master's test' the latter suggested that villains weren't just here to kill All Might but to somehow test Taro as well.
"I don't think, I can!"
Taro stated as he let his feet touch the ground, and he adopted a fighting stance. A grin was on his face.
"Kid don't be stupid this–"
"Nomu, attack"
Aizawa's warning was quickly cut off by Shigaraki, who immediately ordered Nomu to attack.
In a burst of speed and power, the Nomu launched itself towards Taro. it became a blur as it moved, reaching Taro before he could blink and struck him on his stomach.
BOOM!
The attack landed and generated a deafening sound, Taro coughed up wads of saliva as he was launched back several meters at breakneck speed.
But Nomu gave chase, leaving Shigaraki and Kurogiri to handle Aizawa.
"Taro!!"
Aizawa shouted and immediately positioned his body, ready to launch himself after them, to try and help Taro.
"Don't bother, you'll be less than a nuisance"
Shigaraki warned, his voice lazy and calm, almost as if he wasn't giving a warning but simply saying the truth.
"I am a hero, leaving student to fend for themselves is not what I do"
Aizawa's rebuked, unconvinced, and unwilling to let a student, a barely adult child, handle something so dangerous and life threatening.
"I guess I have to keep you here"
Aizawa turned to face the villain as he heard their words, He wasn't intimidated and believed he could take them.
As the young man flew through the air, he felt the pain on his stomach, like a hole was punched straight through; however , he grit his teeth and flipped himself upright and immediately halted his flight, stopping mid air.
Unfortunately, before he could say or do anything, the Nomu was already before him, Its fist went straight for his face.
On pure instinct, Taro dropped to the floor, dodged the fist, and let it fly over his head before he went for a counter.
Clenching his fist, he struck Nomu with as much Might as he could summon. Hitting its square on the stomach, however, the punch only managed to cause the Nomu's body to bulge slightly, absorbing the shock before it returned to normal
'Shit!'
Seeing his power being essentially ineffective against the Nomu, Taro could only respond with shocked eyes.
Unfortunately Nomu didn't care if he was shocked and delivered a devastating knee kick to his stomach once again, this time forcing a blood mixed with saliva to fly out his mouth as his body was launched high into the air.
Nomu then jumped up, chasing after him again. Its Jump reached Taro and grabbed him by the leg before launching him straight down and letting him crash on the ground with enough force to generate a miniature earthquake and create a cloud of dust.
"Ugh!!"
The young lad groaned in pain, feeling it on his stomach and all over his body. His body lay on his back and allowed him to see the oncoming figure. It was obscured by the smoke, but he could see that it was dropping down and attempting to stomp on him.
He rolled to the side, flying meters away.
Letting the Nomu crash on the ground and create another small earthquake and generate another smoke cloud.
Seeing the opportunity to attack, Taro used his flight ability, flying at top speed towards the Nomu, and using the momentum and his own strength he struck with the combined power of his momentum and physical strength.
As he made contact with it, an intensely powerful shockwave shook the area, flinging away any loose debris.
The Nomu was caught unprepared, and its body was launched back towards the central plaza. Taro has struck it on the chest, breaking its sternum. However, the attack left him panting and drained, but he still had more than enough fight in him.
It had barely been two minutes since Nomu and Taro began to fight, leaving Aizawa to deal with Shigaraki and Kurogiri, however in those two minutes barely anything had transpired between the hero and the duo of villains.
Just as Aizawa was going to make a move the Nomu came crashing, its body bouncing off the concrete floor, splattering blood everywhere before it rolled to a stop, its body laid out like it was knocked out. Its chest had caved in, and some of its bones were sticking out.
Moments later, Taro arrived as well. He did not look hurt, only roughed up, no blood on him, just a small grin on his face and eyes that showed his inner excitement. He rolled his shoulders and stretched his neck.
"Come on, don't tell me that's all it took"
He said, his voice sounding disappointed however the smile on his face told he was expecting the creature to get up, his expectations were confirmed as the Nomu's caved chest began to heal, its bones snapping back in place.
