Chapter 277 - 277 - Faith, Fools, and Faceplants

Tripping Princess, Old Man Shakes His Head.

Kei looked at the two traits, a somewhat helpless smile appearing on his face.

The effect of the [Tripping Princess] looked cute, in a two-dimensional world. But if you brought it into the real world, it most likely represented a loss of balance. Add to that the trait that it affected targets regardless of strength, and the massive boost in idiocy aura it brings...

This trait was basically a goddess-destroying artifact!

Just imagine: Yvraine flips her cloak, her aura surging, murderously advancing toward Lelith, only to suddenly trip and faceplant on level ground. Idiocy levels through the roof.

The Emissary's millennia-old authority would probably vanish on the spot.

As for [Old Man Shakes His Head], that trait reminded him of a saying from his past life:

This trait wasn't a normal single-target buff, it was more like a group-based divine summoning ability.

The "devotees" mentioned were the believers.

After invoking the divine, they could temporarily be possessed by the Dual Spirits of Gain and Loss, gaining their power.

The cost? A massive drain of vitality!

This wasn't because the spirits absorb the believers' energy. Rather, humans and the Dual Spirits of Gain and Loss were on totally different levels of existence, and simply couldn't withstand their power.

Demon slaying and evil warding, so it's power targeted against ghosts, evils, and monsters?

He reread the trait explanation twice.

In theory, the powers this trait granted were somewhat similar to the [Demon God's Proxy] he previously fused into the Primordial Realm.

But there was a difference, that one borrowed power, while this one invoked it.

Also, [Demon God's Proxy] didn't require a specific source for borrowing, you could form a contract freely.

Of course, this didnn't make [Old Man Shakes His Head] any weaker. On the contrary, the Dual Spirits of Gain and Loss were extremely powerful in theory. As long as the believer's body could endure their possession, their strength could crush most evil beings in a complete dimensional beatdown.

Moreover, the Dual Spirits could actually possess three people:

One Loss Spirit, one Gain Spirit, and a clone of the Gain Spirit.

If used properly, [Old Man Shakes His Head] could instantly enhance three powerful combatants.

Kei stroked his chin thoughtfully.

This power system was quite interesting. If he could master it, he could allow his Demon God's Proxies, or people he recognized, to invoked him and wield his power.

System, activate [Old Man Shakes His Head].

As Kei finished thinking, a torrent of knowledge surged into his mind, swiftly organized by the Dimensional Overclocking Computer.

[Fusion? Yes/No]

---

Yes!

The system of belief and invocation was rapidly incorporated into the Primordial Realm. And under further analysis by the Labyrinthian Circuit, the hidden power system behind it was mostly deciphered.

After reading the circuit's explanation, he showed a look of realization.

For his own Demon God's Proxies to summon him, it would be easy. Using the contractual links between them, when a Proxy was in need, he could transmit a portion of his power through the link.

But if it wass someone else trying to summon him, either they need to have his mark on their body, or they must use the power of faith to build a connection, gain his recognition, and thereby allowed him to send power through the bridge created by that faith.

The power of belief, as a form of spiritual energy, was also incredibly potent.

Gods received believers' faith to empower themselves; believers offered up their faith in exchange for divine protection and peace.

This was somewhat similar to how Dimensional Demons lend power. But the method was unquestionably more sophisticated.

Gather the power of collective faith, use divine statues and names to anchor the deity, then perform rituals with spells, incense, offerings, etc., to build the communication link...

He watched as the Labyrinthian Circuit rapidly analyzed and determined the most suitable invocation rituals for anchoring him, his expression turning a little strange.

Silks and ornate robes of all kinds... performing a reinterpreted version of the dance of Gokuraku Jodo.

Is that the kind of god I am?

Forget it, forget it...

At least it was better than doing a strip or pole dance.

In traditional deity-invocation rituals, whether it was burning incense, bowing in prayer, trance dancingor shrine maidens, they're all just different forms of ritual expression.

The more abundant and pure the power of faith, the closer one was to the deity, and the fewer ritual steps were required. Conversely, the less faith, the more complex the rituals.

As a Dimensional Demon God, any world where he had built a gateway connected to his own dimension, as long as there was sufficient faith power and the proper ritual was performed, he could sense it instantly.

After stroking his chin and pondering for a moment, he embedded his "invocation ritual" into the protective amulets with his divine statues, spread throughout the various worlds connected to the Primordial Realm.

---

In the Naruto world, Tsunade, Kushina, Hikari, Miroku, and Pakura all turned to look at the amulets hanging around their necks, receiving the information that flowed into their minds from the statue.

Tsunade rolled her eyes again and again. Before she could even start complaining, was Kei feeling lonely or something lately? Why the hell would he send this?

Kushina and the others had already burst through the doors to her office.

"Tsunade-nee, let's do it together! Just in time, Shikaku mentioned wanting to prepare a divine festival to boost morale!"

"I'm the Hokage! Hikari, you don't get a say!"

Veins bulged on Tsunade's forehead. Seeing Hikari's eager expression, she pinned her down before she could jump in.

Hikari bared her teeth and quietly moved closer to Kushina, her actions clearly siding with her.

Miroku glanced around, then smiled gently. She pulled the sighing Pakura, hand covering her face, over to stand with Kushina.

Looking at these people, Tsunade scratched her head in frustration for a while before speaking again.

"This is so embarrassing!"

"No need to worry, Lady Tsunade," Miroku took over the conversation, "The dance is very elegant. And if you're shy, we can have only female believers attend the ritual."

"Oh! Should we ask Kei to show some 'divine signs'? Like summon some rain? A god's descent should have miracles, right?" Kushina tapped her chin with a finger.

"Pick a different one, our base's drainage system is already under major strain," Hikari said, glancing at Pakura.

Recently, Pakura hadn't been stationed in the Land of Wind, and at the Five Element Shinobi HQ, it had rained lightly every other day, and heavily every third day. The drainage system was barely keeping up.

"Don't look at me. I am trying to hold back," Pakura sighed. It's not like she wanted this. But hey, she was the "Rain-Blessed One", every time she appears, it rains!

Tsunade sat back in her office chair, staring blankly at the ceiling.

How did she, the Hokage, start turning into a shrine maiden?

---

In the Demon Slayer World, with demons largely vanishing and new ones barely appearing, the previously overworked Demon Slayer Corps members found themselves with rare downtime.

In the newly built large shrine, Shinobu held a small divine statue in both hands.

Leaping like a butterfly, she landed swiftly in her sister's courtyard after a few quick steps.

"Onesan!"

"Did you feel it too, Shinobu? Want to practice together?"

Kanae's delicate face wore a gentle smile. She gently stroked the head of Kanao standing nearby.

"Huh? But… I've never..."

"A proper shrine maiden must know how to perform a Kagura dance."

"Kanao, you're joining us too."

Shinobu, stiff as a board, grabbed Kanao's small hand. Slaying demons was fine, but divine dances?

Could she really pull it off?

---

In the Kamar-Taj Library of the Marvel world, Wong scratched his cheek as he watched Mordo and Kaecilius rush back in.

They had the divine statues. The altar had no special requirements. And the sorcerers had strong enough mental power.

But the outfits... and the dance... Was it really appropriate for three grown men to perform a deity-invoking ritual dance?
