Kosim was a man who had experienced many things in life.
He wasn't born privileged, at least to his standards. He had to claw his way up the food chain to reach where he currently was.
For many in the Sanguine clan, guarding a Vein was a task of the highest honor. It meant being given the privilege of guarding a future pillar of the great Sanguine clan.
If said pillar rose to become the Blood Sovereign of the clan, then the guardian had the privilege to become a second Iron Saint. A position of power, authority.
Kosim often dreamed of such scenes. Where he stood as second in command of the great giant of the west.
But he knew earlier on, his master could not become the Sovereign.
He wasn't sure if it was because of the other monsters that were the older Veins, or because he had been put in the care of a crazy Vein.
Regardless, his dreams had become absurd to him, because they were impossible.
