Chapter 138 - Chapter 138: Foresight

In Silas's imagination, Sabrina should be someone who simply waves a whip around all dominantly and...

Such a gentle Sabrina whether compared to the rumors or his own impression was completely different.

"I think you should've figured it out, Silas."

Sabrina slowly stood up, stepped down from the elevated platform, and walked to the command station at one end of the battlefield.

"Foresight?"

Silas struggled to utter those words from his mouth.

To be honest, it was really hard for him to believe that someone in this world could actually do that.

Even though he had learned previously that extremely powerful psychics and Psychic-type Pokémon could see the future, he had never dared to think along those lines.

Accepting that he had traveled to the world of Pokémon was already hard enough. Now they wanted him to believe in this sort of strange thing without seeing it with his own eyes? That would just completely shatter his understanding of reality.

He could accept that legendary Pokémon had such abilities. He could even accept that powerful Pokémon might be able to sense fragments of the future.

But humans… Could they really do something like that?

Moreover, those capable of foresight usually only saw things closely related to themselves.

But now… he believed it.

"Yes, that's right." Sabrina leaned her entire body forward, resting against the railing of the command platform.

"I saw this scene... three years ago."

She fiddled with her hair as she looked at Silas.

Silas's eyes flickered slightly. "Then what else have you seen in these three years?"

Sabrina smiled brightly. "I knew it would be you. But the future is constantly changing, so…"

She placed her right index finger against her lips. "That's a secret."

Silas closed his eyes, steadied his emotions, and opened them again. "Then, what's the real reason you called me here?"

"It's now 11:15 AM. I am Sabrina, the Gym Leader of the Saffron City Psychic Gym."

"What's about to begin is a Gym Battle challenge from Silas Alaric of Viridian City. The Gym Leader will send out her first Pokémon."

She muttered this to herself, then raised her arm powerfully and declared, "My Pokémon is—Alakazam!"

She completely ignored Silas's question.

From the elevated platform behind her, Alakazam remained seated with its eyes tightly closed, arms drawn in, the two spoons in its hands crossed.

"Whoosh~!"

In just a flash, Alakazam teleported directly onto the battlefield.

"You've gotta be kid—"

Silas hadn't even finished his sentence before Sabrina cut him off.

"I'm not joking. The rule is simple: I will only use Alakazam, and you can use all of your Pokémon at once.

As long as you defeat it, the badge is yours."

Silas stared at the panel marked "Zero," which displayed Alakazam's strength level. His expression turned grim as he made one last attempt: "This violates the League's rules for Gym Battles!"

Even he found his own argument unconvincing.

"The League?" Sabrina smiled faintly. "They won't interfere. Don't worry."

Don't worry? Silas felt there was no way he could be at ease.

He rubbed his face. Seemed like there wasn't much choice.

If that's the case—"Go, Blaziken!"

Silas threw out a Luxury Ball. Even with a zero percent chance of winning, he had to at least give it a try.

As for actually winning?

Sorry, but according to Unit Zero's panel, Alakazam's current strength level was: Champion.

"Blaziken!"

As soon as Blaziken appeared on the field, it immediately took on a battle stance.

Flames burst from its wrists, a clear sign of excitement in the face of a powerful opponent.

Its basic Aura told it that this yellow-headed Pokémon in front of it was absurdly strong.

Alakazam slowly opened its tightly shut eyes.

Vmmm—

An invisible pulse of energy rippled across the entire field.

Boom—!

Blaziken was instantly blasted backward, slamming hard into a nearby wall, and lost the ability to battle.

"I forfeit."

Silas recalled Blaziken and spoke coldly toward Sabrina.

This was a completely unnecessary battle.

"See? Isn't this different now?"

Sabrina smiled happily.

"What exactly are you trying to do?" Silas frowned and questioned her from a distance.

"Hmm~" Sabrina tilted her head, then suddenly vanished on the spot.

In the next moment, she reappeared directly in front of Silas so close they were nearly face-to-face.

Suddenly, Sabrina leaned in, her face practically touching Silas's.

Silas's pupils shrank as he instinctively took a step back.

"Hahahahaha." Sabrina laughed, her voice bright and lilting.

Silas stood stiffly, a chill running down his spine. He had the uneasy feeling that something wasn't quite right with this Sabrina's mental state.

"Sigh…"

A soft sigh came from a corner of the battlefield.

Both of them heard the male voice. Sabrina kept laughing cheerfully.

A middle-aged man dressed in white appeared next to Silas. With one hand, he picked Silas up and in the next instant, both of them vanished from the Psychic Gym.

It was only after a long while that Sabrina's laughter gradually stopped. Her voice echoed across the now-empty battlefield whether she was speaking to herself or to Alakazam was unclear.

"I saw him, you know."

"Should I go through with it?"

Sabrina's cool voice lingered in the battle arena, while Alakazam quietly closed its eyes again.

"Cynthia…"

Meanwhile, in a residential home somewhere in Saffron City

Silas and the man in white who had just vanished appeared suddenly in a living room.

Silas shook his head, feeling dizzy and unwell. So this is teleportation, huh?

He quickly looked at the man beside him. "Senior Shigeru, was Gym Leader Sabrina just…?"

That's right this man in white was the previous Gym Leader of the Saffron City Psychic Gym:Shigeru, Sabrina's father.

There were very few psychics capable of teleporting with others. And not every psychic had the courage to defy Sabrina's authority.

"I don't know," Shigeru sighed. "I'm a failed father."

The bitterness on his face was plain to see.

"Sabrina's psychic power is too strong. She can see as far as three years into the future. I can't do that, so I have no idea what exactly she saw."

Silas fell silent for a moment, then asked Shigeru, "In that case, can I ask you—what exactly is psychic power?"

Although the League's official resources provided a basic explanation of psychic abilities, the true essence of them was always vaguely described. The same went for Aura—it was only ever mentioned in a single line: "The Aura is within me."

Now, standing before someone considered one of the strongest psychics of this era, Silas naturally had to ask clearly.

As for Sabrina… he didn't know why, but he had a gut feeling she didn't harbor any malice toward him.

Even back in the Gym, he hadn't felt any danger.

"It must be related to something that will happen in the future," he silently thought to himself.

Shigeru sighed again. "I'm sorry. I don't fully understand what psychic power really is either.

To me, it's something very spiritual.

Most people think psychic abilities are rare talents that only a few possess but that's not entirely true.

The external manifestation of psychic powers, like telekinesis, is one thing… but personally, I believe that a Trainer's heartfelt love for their Pokémon is also a kind of psychic power."

Shigeru spoke at length, and Silas tried to summarize it all in his mind.

Basically, psychic power is something Shigeru was born with, something he used instinctively, and thus he didn't fully understand it himself.

Wow. Silas almost couldn't help but applaud him.

But considering Shigeru's strength and status, he wisely held back.

"In any case, Sabrina's feelings toward you are… unique,"Shigeru continued. "I don't know what she saw, but for those with the ability to foresee the future, what they witness isn't just a scene or a fragment—it's cycles and loops of repetition."

At that moment, a trace of pain flashed in Shigeru's eyes.

After chatting a little longer, Shigeru teleported Silas back to the Pokémon Center.

As for the situation with Sabrina, both of them agreed that there shouldn't be any immediate danger. With Sabrina's abilities, if she wanted to find Silas again, it would be effortless.

Since she didn't stop Shigeru from taking him away, it meant Silas didn't have to worry. After all, there was no escaping if she really wanted to pursue him.

Silas silently listened to Shigeru's attempt to reassure him. While the logic made sense, it still left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Just before parting,Shigeru offered one final suggestion: "If you have time, you might want to visit the Fighting-type Gym. Nobuhiko is quite skilled. Learning more is never a bad thing."

Silas nodded thoughtfully.

He collected his fully healed Blaziken from Nurse Joy and returned to his room.

Lying on his bed, Silas stared blankly at the ceiling.

Honestly, the things he experienced in just the past two hours had shaken him more than anything before.

Ever since arriving in this world, graduating from school, obtaining Pokémon, completing bounty tasks, and gradually building up strength and connections it had all gone according to his plan.

Even if there were a few detours along the way, none of it had been unexpected.

That was how he, an orphan, had managed to surpass most people at such a young age.

Without the chip, or without his own relentless efforts behind the scenes, success wouldn't have come so easily.

For instance, had he not specifically planned how to leverage the black market, he wouldn't have recently transitioned into becoming an official part of the League.

But today… Sabrina had completely thrown him off his rhythm.

Ding!

A few soft sounds rang out, and Pidgeot, Blaziken, Boldore, and Snivy all popped out of their Poké Balls.

"Snivy."

Snivy gently tapped its Trainer with a vine. In the two days they'd known each other, this was the first time it had seen Silas like this.

There was a moment of silence.

Silas suddenly rolled over and pulled Snivy into his arms, burying his face in its leafy scent like a man starved for emotional support.

Snivy was startled by its Trainer's sudden behavior and squirmed a bit it was ticklish, and let out a light giggle.

"Damn!"

Then Silas shouted loudly and gave himself a sharp slap on the face.

Looking toward Blaziken, he asked, "Are you okay?"

"Blaziken!"

Blaziken raised a claw to show it was fine.

Even though it had been instantly defeated by that freaky yellow-headed monster, it was determined to get its revenge someday. It was not letting this grudge go.

Silas paused for a moment. "Good. But be mindful of one thing."

Blaziken tilted its head at the serious expression on its Trainer's face.

"Next time you raise a claw don't just raise the middle one.
