Chapter 291 - Chapter 291: Enslaved Industry

Wade stared in astonishment at the goblins bustling back and forth in front of him, all working at a furious pace, his heart filled with shock.

Had the goblins looted his senior's home? No… that wasn't it…

Wade immediately noticed that each goblin was wearing a familiar red collar around its neck, and every single one of them had a vacant, lifeless look in their eyes.

Alright… these guys had all been enslaved.

It seemed that after his senior had taken control of the first master goblin craftsman, she had expanded her "industry" even further…

Only now did Wade understand why her research had progressed so quickly.

She had turned it into an entire production chain. How could it not be fast?

"Hello. The master wishes to see you," a sharp, thin voice suddenly sounded from the side.

Wade turned his head and saw a young goblin standing in front of him.

"Where is your master?" Wade asked.

"Please follow me." The goblin, its eyes dull and lifeless, turned and began to lead the way.

As Wade followed the goblin forward, he observed the surroundings.

The once empty underground chamber had now been transformed into a massive workshop.

Wade could not clearly see what they were producing.

However, he could roughly make out some details. What they were manufacturing seemed to be some kind of molds…

"What are you producing?" Wade Reynolds thought for a moment, then suddenly asked.

"A kind of tool," the goblin walking ahead replied.

"What kind of tool?"

"A tool for producing a certain thing," the goblin said dully.

Wade understood. His senior had gathered a large number of goblins and started doing research…

The goal was to create something that could completely resolve the excessive residual matter in her body.

No wonder all those containers he had received earlier were made of goblin metal.

Wade felt a bit vexed. How had he not thought of this approach himself?

But on second thought, this was something only his senior's nightmare magic could accomplish.

He did not have the ability to directly enslave so many goblins and make them work for him.

Moreover, his senior had already had a long-standing feud with the goblins. Now that these fellows had actually dared to come knocking on her door, it was no surprise they ended up enslaved.

Soon, the goblin led Wade into an empty stone chamber.

"The master asks that you wait here," the goblin said, then turned and left.

As it departed, the stone chamber door closed as well.

Wade Reynolds began to look around.

The chamber was not large, about the same size as the laboratory on the Somnolen wizard tower, but it was completely empty.

"Hiss, hiss…" Nagini raised her head, voicing her question.

"The owner of this place has helped me many times. The treatment plan for you was proposed by her as well. That's why treating you here will be safer," Wade replied to Nagini.

First, this place was more secluded. Second, with his senior watching over things, the treatment afterward would be much safer, assuming she had the time.

These days, his senior rarely spoke to him directly anymore. Most of the time, she simply left him a note.

And sure enough… another pristine white note appeared in the previously empty stone chamber.

[…

Ever since you left me a message about Slytherin, I knew you would come here.

This laboratory has been reserved for you in advance. If you need any materials or equipment, you can go out and make a request to any goblin.

Here, your authority is the same as mine.

When you begin that treatment, you can tear this note. I will know immediately and keep an eye on this place.

P.S. These goblins are actually quite useful. If you plan to carry out any experiments in the future, you can have them assist you.

Lastly… why hasn't your ancient magic made much progress lately? I'm still waiting for you to let me out!...]

After reading the message on the note, it did not disappear this time.

So Wade Reynolds tucked the note into his pocket.

His lack of progress in ancient magic was because he had already visited all the ancient magic hotspots around Hogwarts.

If he wanted to advance rapidly again, he would have to find ancient magic hotspots elsewhere, which meant exploring other ancient ruins.

As for how to find these ancient ruins… perhaps he would have to ask Slytherin about that this time.

Having made up his mind, Wade opened the door, casually grabbed a passing goblin, and told it what equipment and materials he needed.

Before long, the goblins brought over everything Wade required.

His senior was right. These goblins were truly capable and wealthy…

Yes, Wade did not believe for a moment that his senior would spend even a single Galleon on this underground workshop.

If the cost of these materials and equipment did not come from the greedy goblins' own hoarded wealth, Wade would wash his hair standing on his head.

Creating an alchemical production line required an enormous amount of Galleons.

Not to mention that there was more than one production line here.

Wade Reynolds thought about how he had painstakingly copied formulas and made improvements just to earn a small sum of money.

Sure enough… making money was never as fast as robbing goblins.

"Maybe… we should rob Gringotts?"

While Wade was indulging in his imagination, the previously empty stone chamber was rapidly filled, quickly turning into a fairly well-equipped laboratory.

After placing Nagini into an insulated container, Wade took a sheet of parchment and began writing out the experimental plan.

A rigorous experiment required a complete and thorough plan, even if every step was already firmly memorized.

Wade needed to conduct several trials before he would truly begin treating Nagini.

As for test subjects, Wade casually took a few chickens and rabbits from the kitchen that were originally meant to be slaughtered.

If even the fragile souls of these small animals could withstand the experiment, then Nagini should not have any problems.

This round of experiments lasted a full three days.

During that time, no fewer than fifty chickens and rabbits fell before Wade Reynolds.

It was not until the afternoon of the third day that Wade finally completed and refined the entire treatment plan.

Although the rabbits used as test subjects did develop some side effects after the experiments, those effects should not be very noticeable when applied to Nagini.

And at this point, this was already the limit of what Wade could achieve.

Wade left the treatment plan on the table, then tore open the note his senior had left earlier.

As for Wade himself, he directly lay down on a simple single bed nearby and fell fast asleep.

Before long, a wisp of white mist drifted gently past, like a light breeze, flipping through the pages of the plan…

Wade slept for a long time, from around five in the afternoon straight through to early the next morning.

After he got up and finished breakfast, Wade discovered that a great deal of new writing had appeared on his treatment plan.

From a professional perspective, his senior had offered many suggestions for improvement.

After reading them, Wade immediately carried out another experiment.

This time, the rabbit used in the experiment was completely unharmed, with no side effects at all.

Only then did Wade realize that his understanding of soul power was indeed still very shallow.

Wade took Nagini out of the insulated container.

"The treatment plan is ready, but I don't know what the success rate will be…"

"Hiss, hiss…"

"Are you really sure you want to do this?"

Nagini nodded firmly. She would rather die than continue living as a snake.

She had always been human, a living, breathing person!
