Following Beibei's earlier directions, Huo Yuhao quickly spotted the dormitory building.
At the entrance sat an old man.
He wore simple gray clothes, and the deep wrinkles on his face looked like they could crush a dozen flies at once. His cloudy eyes drooped beneath heavy lids, giving him the appearance of someone on the brink of death. Sunlight filtered through the buildings, landing gently on his half-reclined chair, making it seem like he was quite comfortable.
Huo Yuhao approached and greeted respectfully, "Good day, Grandpa. I'm a new student here to check into the dormitory. Would you like to check my freshman badge?"
The old man didn't lift his head. He simply extended a trembling hand and spoke in a raspy, low voice, "Badge and key. Let me see."
Huo Yuhao quickly handed them over.
The old man waved them in front of his face and then returned them. "Go on. Dormitory 108 is the third room on the left, first floor. Starting from the fourth floor, it's the girls' dorms. Anyone caught up there will be expelled."
"Thank you," Huo Yuhao bowed deeply once again before entering the dormitory building.
The old man didn't move from his spot. He muttered to himself, "Polite kids like that are rare these days."
As he spoke, several more freshmen passed by, clearly not noticing the old man at the entrance. They went straight in.
The old man didn't stop them, merely continuing to doze off in his chair.
At that moment, Elder Ye's voice sounded in Huo Yuhao's mind: "Yuhao, that old man just now—keep an eye on him."
'The old man at the door? What about him?' Huo Yuhao kept a straight face, but asked in surprise in his heart.
"He's no ordinary old man. From what I observed, he's at the level of a Limit Douluo—a powerhouse rare even in your world," Elder Ye replied.
'What?! That sickly old man is a Limit Douluo?!' Huo Yuhao's eyes widened in shock, inwardly shouting in disbelief.
A Limit Douluo!
In an age where gods no longer walked the world, Limit Douluos were the gods among soul masters!
No wonder he was so shocked.
Who would have imagined that a legendary powerhouse would be playing the role of a nearly dying old dorm warden?
After a moment of awe, Huo Yuhao shrugged it off. It didn't concern him anyway. So what if the man was powerful? It wasn't like he'd take Huo Yuhao as a disciple or back him up. In that case, what did it matter?
The dorm was a traditional corridor-style building. A long hallway stretched down the center, with numbered doors on either side.
Huo Yuhao unlocked his room and was immediately greeted by a wave of stale air. It was clear no one had lived there for months. Dust covered everything.
Holding his breath, he dashed inside and flung open the windows.
The dorm was tiny—about ten square meters. Two beds took up most of the space, with just one table and two metal lockers. A single lamp hung from the ceiling.
After airing it out for a bit, the air finally felt clean. Looking around at the cramped space, Huo Yuhao nodded in satisfaction. From today onward, this would be his home for the next year. It looked like he would have a roommate, too. Better clean up first.
Though born into a duke's household, Huo Yuhao's early life had been harder than that of a commoner due to the cruel oppression of the main wife. As a result, he had learned to handle things on his own from a young age.
He cleaned thoroughly.
Then he used his Spirit Eyes to scan for hidden dirt and made sure everything was spotless before stopping. Though the dorm was still modest, it now carried a fresh and clean feel.
Huo Yuhao had no plans to buy bedding. For someone focused solely on cultivating, a wooden bed was more than enough. Feeling his stomach grumble, he went out to find the cafeteria. On the way, he bought the cheapest food bowl from the student supply shop and headed to eat.
Each grade level had its own cafeteria, conveniently located behind the dorms.
As soon as Huo Yuhao stepped into the freshman cafeteria, he was stunned by the prices—some dishes were sold for gold soul coins! Shaking his head at the absurdity, he bought the cheapest meal: stir-fried greens and plain rice.
After quickly finishing his meal, he returned to the dorm.
As the saying goes, "The clumsy bird flies early." He was well aware of the gap between himself and others, and he had no intention of wasting any time.
Cross-legged, Huo Yuhao quickly entered a meditative state and began cultivating the Innate Meditation Technique. Ever since Elder Ye had passed it on to him, he could feel his body changing with each passing day—wider meridians, a sturdier physique, and gradually improving talent!
With more days of cultivation, the results became increasingly visible, showing just how precious this technique truly was.
He felt genuine gratitude for Elder Ye, who had taught him such a powerful ability without asking for anything in return.
Some time passed.
Suddenly, the sound of a turning key snapped Huo Yuhao out of his deep meditation!
He looked up.
At the door stood a teenager.
Huo Yuhao noticed the youth's delicate features and pale complexion. What caught his attention most were the pair of light bluish-pink eyes. The boy had neatly cropped hair of the same color. His appearance was so attractive that he might have been even more handsome than Beibei—easily the best-looking peer Huo Yuhao had ever seen.
"And you are?" Huo Yuhao asked instinctively.
The boy didn't answer right away. He scanned the room with obvious distaste, then finally looked at Huo Yuhao.
With a condescending expression, he said arrogantly, "Since you cleaned the place well enough, I'll allow you to stay for now. But there are a few rules you must follow. First, no bringing anyone back without permission. Second, no walking around naked. Third, no snoring at night. Fourth, don't disturb me. Fifth, you're responsible for cleaning the room, but don't touch my bed. Got that?"
Huo Yuhao's irritation flared immediately. Who wouldn't be annoyed being talked to like that out of nowhere?
He replied coldly, "And why should I listen to you?"
The boy snorted. "If you don't, I'll throw you out. Try me."
Having grown up oppressed in the duke's estate, Huo Yuhao especially despised people who acted like this. He responded with a chill in his voice, "Fine. Let's take this outside."
Seeing Huo Yuhao not backing down, the boy actually smiled—a smirk full of disdain and mockery, which only ignited Huo Yuhao's fury further. He was determined to teach this guy a lesson!
'Hmm? This girl… 'Suddenly, Elder Ye's voice rang out in Huo Yuhao's mind.
Huo Yuhao immediately caught the key word.
A girl?
Are you saying… this person is a girl?! He asked in shock.
If she was a girl disguised as a boy, then those earlier rules suddenly made a lot more sense.
