Chapter 17 - Secret Club

At the Dinner table, Daenneri barely took in a grape. She observed with attention Daelan's eating manners. The way he chugged in food barely chewing, just like Miklos when he was around.

"Thank-you for the food Mrs. Willer." Daelan said with food in his mouth.

Morant ate without paying attention to him, he wanted Daenneei to know he was not faced by him although he wished he could slap him across the face.

"If you think you'll be hungry later, you can take food upstairs. There's actually dessert." Daenery said cutting meat with a knife while he pulled it appart.

"I should be fine for today Mrs. Willer."

"If you are going to call her that, say it right. Willerich is the last name. One thinks you would know it by heart if it's yours."

"You're wrong." Daelan continued to munch on food. " My last name has always been Kors, my mother's. Miklos was nothing more than a father figure to me until my mother told me I shared his blood. I'm only here because he has responsibility for me, otherwise I would not bother either of you."

Morant was indeed curious of his relationship with his father, taking in consideration his was a disaster.

"When was the last time you saw him?" Daenneri asked without a filter for the first time.

"About a year. After that I only heard Agari had killed himself and he was not heard of anymore."

Up until that moment, Agari's whereabouts were unknown and of course, whether or not he was alive, no one could ever imagine him taking his life. A rumor as such could never be taken into consideration. Not by the masses nor by his family. But the apathy with which he spoke about him was strange.

"I hadn't had the chance to mention this, but I have a similar quirk to yours. I can't speak for you since I know they develop differently as we grow and regarding how you train. But i think you would find it interesting, after all I am very interested in yours. I want to learn from you. I can show you mine."

"He doesn't use his anymore" Daeneri interrupted in complete disregard.

"Is that so?" Dalean said with a smirk looking a Mo who was the vivid image of a "facepalm".

"We are not allowed because of the age restraint."

"What is that?!"

"The law. It was a suggestion until last year"

"Why!?"

"Because it is the right thing. Why would a bunch of teenagers have to train on magic, what kind of war would they prepare for?"

"But"

"No buts, the way it is, is the right way."

Daelan turned flabbergasted towards Mo who continued to eat unfaced. Or so it seemed, since one of his eyelashes twitched from time to time.

When dInner was over, Mo walked as fast as he could towards his room, Daelan behind, chasing him. Mo attempted to shut the door behind him but Daelan got in the way.

"What was that? I thought you were the strongest wizard at school. Even your other peers from your friend group, I know you all have quirks. I want to join."

"What are you talking about, you can't."

"Why not?"

"Because! You just can't, besides, It's Cirrus who gathers members and it's not easy to win his trust."

"I'm confident! I'll make it. So you guys still train regardless of the so-called law?"

"That is none of your business."

Mo pushed Daelan out the room when he noticed the fireflies entering the room.

"Faolán?" He walked towards the balcony and there they were. All of them surrounding the garden.

Almost as if the bugs whispered in his ear, "are you ready".

Mo smiled and abandoned the balcony. With a pre-packed backpack, he tiptoed his way across the stairs and opened the back door where Morgan was waiting. His smile faded when he noticed behind him, a possible snitch.

"Who the he'll is that?" Morgan asked loudly.

Mo felt his heard beat out his chest and turned to his back where Daelan smirked.

"Can I come?"

"Cirrus won't let you, I told you this already, get back inside."

"I'll learn quickly, I won't be a bother, and besides, I can help." He pulled an axe out of thin air as he spread his fingers.

Morgan let out a gasp. "He did that with the minerals in the air? Like you?"

"No he's not like me." Mo threw the bag in the ground and continued to walk

"And I can fight too!"

Mo walked ahead hoping Morgan was not dumb enough to accept him, but he was unlucky. The boys had a blast in the back, swinging and punching away. They were absurd.

"Yo Mo, I can't believe we'll have two Willerichs in the team, this is awesome.

Mo held in a tear.

They arrived the house when the sun was completely behind the hills, the residual light created giant shadows that worried him. Until then, adventures ended when those shadows appeared, and that felt like a rebellion he was not prepared to face.

They entered the portal with no knowledge of the basics but completely faithful Cirrus had a plan.

Morgan surrounded them with the air he gathered in the form of a storm, keeping the air flowing ready for whatever. Inside the bubble of air they were in, light bounced of the edges illuminating the path as they walked ahead and also making it visually clear what was the space under control.

Stolas walked ahead, outside the bubble feeling the natural flow of the air inside the cave. He whistled and dragged his feet, keeping noise a constant.

Daelan walked by Mo who was still irritated by the fact that Cirrus had accepted him in the crew. Of course it was not personal. After having noticed Daelans gift was the same as Mo's with a trained and strong body as the difference. He could not keep his curiosity.

Damien and Harriet walked behind while Cirrus took the lead. If the cave were to fall apart, Mo could hold it in place until it was safe for them. In the meantime, he analyzed the structure and density of the ceiling and ground. Where he realized the walls were thin, he knew it didn't exactly mean an exit but extra space could help in a fallout.

"What are we looking for?"

"A crack of any sort, it could be light or water"

"There's no leaks"

"I thought so. Still, we are looking for the end of this, even if it's harder to break. But if I'm right, there should be some sort of entrance.

They walked without a direction until they noticed stollas kneeled.

" What is it?"

"This is it."

"Where!?"

He pointed at the top.

"It looks like when it rains, the water consumes and falls down this puddle."

Daelan pulled down the layer of dirt mixing it with water to keep the dust lift to a minimum. Harriet and Damien laughed and padded him in the back.

"I'm glad you're here, Mo could never get dirty without moaning about it."

With the exposed exit, daylight entered the cave.

Harriet and Damien helped them up while Morgan and Stolas pulled them out. Stollas handed Mo a hammer to hold onto since he was aware he wouldn't like to hold his hand as it had dirt.
