The rest of the flight passed in a hush, broken only by the occasional rustle of a snack wrapper or the low murmur of the flight attendants preparing for descent.
Shantel pretended to read. Richard pretended not to watch her pretend.
By the time the pilot announced their approach, the cabin lights flickered gently back to life, washing the first-class cabin in a soft glow.
Richard adjusted his seat, stretching like a cat who knew he'd spent the flight exactly where he belonged.
He glanced sideways at Shantel as the seatbelt light dinged on. "You know, it's not too late to reenact the whole thing for the campaign ."
"There are no cameras."
He tilted his head. "Margaret exists. She is the camera."
Shantel groaned softly and rubbed her temples. "This is going to be everywhere, isn't it?"
"Not unless you want it to be," he said more gently this time. "She said she deleted it."
