Richard's gaze briefly flicked to her again. "And who the hell are you?"
Lucinda's mouth opened, then closed.
"Exactly," he said coldly. "Another insignificant pawn, being led by the nose. What did Vanessa promise you to make a fool of yourself? A scrap of relevance?"
"What?!" Lucinda couldn't help but exclaim. She'd never been this disdained by a man. If not that he was so devastatingly handsome, she wouldn't have hesitated in giving him a piece of her mind.
However, Vanessa straightened, her voice shaking with rage. "So you're really going to stand here and pretend you don't find it disturbing? That she's cozying up to a man old enough to be your grandfather? And you're calling that normal?"
Hearing Vanessa mentioning the old man again, a frown came over Richard's expression. He'd only seen the side of the man's face—but there was something eerily familiar about him, yet he couldn't place it.
