"Since the Grand Elder is currently in seclusion, then we'll follow the old rule: vote, and the minority obeys the majority."

Before the elder could finish speaking, footsteps suddenly sounded at the door. Hearing the footsteps, everyone's brows tightened slightly. The footsteps drew closer and closer. Finally, they slowed and stopped at the doorway.

"Lin Feng is here. Shall we let him in?"

After the footsteps ceased, a voice came from the door. Hearing this, the elder looked around, his gaze sweeping across everyone. Seeing that no one spoke, he said, "Bring him in; we might as well see what attitude he takes."

"All right."

The person outside replied softly, and the footsteps sounded again. Only this time the footsteps receded instead of approaching.

"Rumble~"

A moment later, with a soft sound of the door opening, an elder led a young man of about twenty-four or twenty-five into the hall.

After the young man stepped into the main hall, everyone's gazes immediately fell on him. When Gu Xun'er saw that young man, a deep puzzled expression appeared on her face. She felt as though she had seen him somewhere before.

"Is it him?!"

Soon after, she finally dredged up some memory of that young man from the depths of her mind.

"Isn't he a servant from Wu Tan City in the Jia Ma Empire? Why is he appearing in the Pill Tower?"

"When he was fifteen, this talent had just reached the Dou Zhe realm, without any Dou Di bloodline. How did he advance so rapidly—growing to his current state in roughly ten years?"

After recognizing Lin Feng, countless doubts sprang up in Gu Xun'er's mind.

For a moment, she didn't know what to say. This man named Lin Feng had been easily bullied by her Brother Xiao Yan ten years ago. They could crush him at will with a word.

Even when Brother Xiao Yan had once snatched the fortunate discovery of a Xuan Class Dou Technique from Lin Feng, no one dared to say a word against it.

Now, after just ten years, the situation had reversed so drastically that he was treating her Brother Xiao Yan so badly.

"Damn it. If I'd known, I should have had Elder Ling eliminate him when he was weak!"

At the thought of that time, Gu Xun'er's eyes abruptly flashed with urging gold. A fierce killing intent skimmed across her, and she felt extreme regret. Back then she had seen that his talent wasn't particularly outstanding and that he had no background.

So, she never paid him much mind. Instead, she had congratulated her Brother Xiao Yan for going out shopping and stumbling upon an Xuan Class Dou Technique.

But she never expected that the youth she had looked down on would rise to this. She had long since inquired into his strength: he was half-step Dou Zun, soul power at Spirit Realm.

With such strength, he almost rivaled her—who was hailed as perhaps the most perfectly bloodlined member of the Gu Clan in a thousand years. After all, she had only recently broken through to the Dou Zun realm.

However, since she wasn't an alchemist and didn't need to practice alchemy techniques, excluding background, in terms of overall strength she might not necessarily surpass him.

"No good. With Lin Feng's talent, now that he and Brother Xiao Yan are hostile, if he's not removed he will become a serious hidden threat. Once this matter is resolved, I must talk to Brother Xiao Yan and have him eliminate this man as soon as possible!"

Thinking of the other's achievements, Gu Xun'er's eyes narrowed and she hardened her heart.

As for Lin Feng, the instant he entered, he felt many gazes fixed on him without disguise. Among those looks, the eyes of a young woman in the corner were especially ferocious.

Her expression was as if she wanted to kill him on the spot. When Lin Feng turned and looked in that direction, he soon recognized her. That woman was none other than Gu Xun'er.

During these nearly ten years, she had indeed matured quite a bit. However, because of that scene back then, when he was forced to hand over the Absorbing Palm, the memory had been deeply carved into his mind.

Therefore, he recognized her instantly.

"Looks like I'll have to be careful. Judging from that crazy woman's expression, she's definitely not planning to let go of the guy who made her dear Xiao Yan suffer such a loss. I'd better think of a way to keep her occupied."

Thinking of that killing intent in Gu Xun'er's eyes just now, Lin Feng's heart tightened in alarm.

"Bang!"

However, just as the thought flashed through Lin Feng's mind, a palm suddenly slammed heavily on the table.

Immediately after, Xuan Yi stood up, her gaze sharp as a blade, and said coldly, "How dare you, Lin Feng! You forcibly seized your fellow disciple's property, caused a vile influence, and damaged the reputation of the Pill Tower. Are you not going to confess your crime?!"

But before her voice even fell, before Lin Feng could respond, an old man suddenly stood up and roared, "To hell with your nonsense! You think you can throw your weight around here—what, you think this is your Outer Pill Tower?"

"That's right, with such arrogance, no wonder you were rejected by Yao Chen back then and lost to Han Shanshan."

"."

The people had already been in a heated argument earlier, and now, with Xuan Yi trying to force Lin Feng to admit guilt the moment he appeared, the more hardline elders immediately couldn't stand it anymore and jumped up to curse her out.

After all, their strength was by no means inferior—some were even stronger than the so-called Pill Tower Three Leaders. Since she had angered them, naturally, none of them cared to show her any face.

"Bastards! You are elders of the Small Pill Tower's Grand Elder Council. Such foul language—is that how you should behave?"

Xuan Yi's expression twisted the moment she heard that, especially since the matter had once again been tied to that woman—she was clearly starting to lose her composure.

As for Lin Feng, he simply put on a meek expression and quietly hid off to the side. His gaze swiftly swept across the hall, analyzing who among them were friends and who were foes.

Of course, the Three Leaders were beyond question. What truly concerned him were the attitudes of the other Grand Elders. He had deliberately made the matter of Xiao Yan ambushing him known to everyone.

His goal was to see, within the Pill Tower, who among them were Yao Chen's allies and who were his enemies. An enemy's enemy—naturally, would be his friend.

As for Yao Chen's friends, he would have to stay extra alert against them, lest they cause trouble at a critical moment.

As for the fence-sitters, those could be ignored for now. After all, such people always side with whoever happens to be stronger.

"Enough! If you lot keep arguing, I'll throw you all outside and let you shout to your heart's content!"

Seeing the two factions about to clash again, the old man who had earlier permitted Lin Feng to enter bellowed angrily once more. At his outburst, everyone immediately fell silent, none daring to retort.

They could only sulkily stop their quarrel and return to their seats one by one. Even after sitting down, however, both sides still glared daggers at each other, as if they could eat the other alive.
