Redfield stepped forward, his blade crackling with power as he unleashed a thunder dragon. The blazing current roared across the battlefield, colliding with Admiral Hoss's holy beam. The clash erupted into blinding brilliance, shockwaves tearing outward, rattling the sky and sea alike.
The flying fleet drifted back under the force, while the naval warships swayed violently on the waves. The tension shattered—war had begun.
---
White Hoss, user of the Mythical Zoan Horse-Horse Fruit, Holy Unicorn form, now stood revealed. A legendary beast even rarer than the Pegasus, his divine light carried a natural advantage against dark-type abilities.
Though his power conflicted with the goat-horned demon form of Admiral Coss Davo, the two remained close allies. Together, they embodied the World Government's determination to crush Rocks and Brook.
Far behind, at Marineford, Fleet Admiral Kukulkan had envisioned a new generation of power. After Kong's promotion to Fleet Admiral, he had intended to raise three new beasts of legend: Bloody Hand Braver, Iron Fist Garp, and Black Arm Zephyr. Yet Kukulkan also coveted the elemental might of Logia. Within the Five Elders' vaults, fruits of unimaginable power lay hidden, waiting for those monstrous enough—and loyal enough—to wield them.
---
"Yohoho! My friends—let's begin!" Brook roared. His Conqueror's Haki exploded outward, and with a sweep of his sword he summoned a Gate of the Underworld. From it poured a ghostly army, their spectral ranks marching like a waterfall through the sky, rushing down upon the Navy fleet below.
"Hahaha! Face my judgment!" Shiki the Golden Lion howled. With a wave of his hand, entire islands fell from the heavens, breaking through the clouds like meteors aimed at the fleet.
"Gurarara! Let the sea decide!" Whitebeard thrust his massive fist forward, shattering the air itself. The quake resounded across the ocean, raising an apocalyptic tsunami that thundered toward the enemy line.
"Look! Boss Shiki's mountains!"
"Newgate's tsunami again!"
The Hell Pirates' crews roared with elation. To them, these calamities were the mark of true overlords.
From the deck, Kaido's eyes blazed with envy. One day, I'll wield power like that… even greater! Nearby, Kozuki Oden gripped his swords with trembling hands, not from fear but exhilaration. This was the true ocean war he had longed to witness.
Redfield struck next, his thunderous pillar piercing the skies, hurtling straight at the lead battleship.
Charlotte Linlin followed with her Emperor Blade, infused with Prometheus and Zeus. Lightning and flame spiraled together into a blade of annihilation, tearing through the air toward the Navy line.
The sky itself seemed to shatter under the onslaught.
---
"This is bad!"
Iron Fist Garp cracked his knuckles. With a mighty leap, the warship's bow plunged from the force of his takeoff. His fists, swollen with Armament Haki, glowed like dark iron suns.
"Ahahaha! Perfect warm-up!"
He slammed his fist into the descending islands, exploding them midair with bone-shaking detonations. Rock and flame scattered like shattered stars. Pirates and Marines alike stared in awe—Vice Admiral Garp had just crushed mountains with his bare hands.
"Great Holy Light!" Admiral Hoss, fully transformed into a winged unicorn, blazed with divine radiance. His purifying aura crashed head-on with Redfield's thunder pillar, splitting the heavens with their clash.
"Black Wrist Fist Gun!" Zephyr soared skyward, his massive fist cloaked in hardened Haki. He smashed through Linlin's lightning-flame slash, scattering its spiral energy into burning sparks.
"Bloodlight Hand!" Bloody Hand Braver extended his crimson palms. A wave of bloody shock energy, hundreds of times stronger than Rankyaku, tore forward and collided with Whitebeard's tsunami. Navy swordsmen followed, their flying slashes splitting the tidal wave into fragmented walls of foam.
The Marines fought with the discipline of legends.
---
Brook's ghostly legions surged downward, ripping apart weaker Marines. Panic spread, until Zephyr's voice bellowed: "Use armament Haki! Defend yourselves!"
Officers infused their blades with Haki, cutting down phantoms one by one. The strongest even dispelled the Devil Fruit energy itself, dispersing the apparitions with sheer will. But ordinary soldiers, untrained in Haki, screamed as the wraiths carved through them.
Yet this was only the opening move—the true battle had yet to begin.
The Hell Pirates had declared themselves with apocalyptic force. The Navy answered in kind.
This was the power of overlords.
---
"Yohoho… not bad, holy horse," Brook muttered, drawing the Seven-Star Sword. Its cursed edge gleamed with otherworldly light. With a flash, he darted forward, blade raised. "Let the world remember this day!"
Admiral Hoss lowered his glowing horn and met the strike head-on.
Across the sea, Redfield became living lightning, darting at Bloody Hand Braver with sword poised for a killing thrust. Braver roared, his bloody palms swelling with murderous intent, ready to crush the Red Earl.
Whitebeard Newgate leapt from the airship, his quake punch colliding with Garp's titanic fists. The sea itself buckled, waves towering higher than ships. Shockwaves thundered through the air, deafening all nearby.
Shiki's twin blades slashed at blinding speed against Zephyr's hardened fists. Sparks flew with each clash, the two locked in a brutal dance of steel and will.
Charlotte Linlin carved a path toward the warships, her blade hungry for souls, but was intercepted by two veteran Vice Admirals. They slammed her back with precise teamwork, forcing her into a furious rage.
------------
The battlefield boiled over. Blood ran into the sea, dyeing the waves crimson as casualties mounted on both sides.
The Four Fallen Angels of the Hell Pirates and the wild beast Kaido carved their way through the enemy ranks with ruthless abandon. Their fighting style was savage—no enemy body remained whole once they were through.
From the golden flagship above, sniper Hiruba struck relentlessly. Each shot claimed careless naval officers with precision, his bullets whispering death across the waves. Among the Hell Pirates, Hiruba was their most efficient killer, the sixth sniper of legend. Between volleys, he kept one eye on Rocks' side of the war, gauging when to swoop in and seize spoils at the perfect moment.
Beneath the waves, the fish-men troops led by Tom and Fisher Tiger drilled through warships like battering rams. Ashura Doji's warrior squad and Abefu's chiropteran musketeers added to the chaos. Meanwhile, the Sea Prism Rifle Division of Sky Island was reorganized into the aerial corps of the Winged Hand Tribe—snipers who rained death from the sky with far greater efficiency.
The grizzled veteran Scaredo oversaw the battlefield, keeping watch over Kaido and Kozuki Oden—young monsters with limitless potential. Even the ship's doctor Crocus and Streusen waded into combat, proving that aboard the Hell Pirates' ship, only the intelligence officer Antonio could afford to avoid the front lines.
More pirate banners soon rose over the horizon. The World Pirates and the Golden Pirates, sworn subordinates of Brook, charged in to "add oil to the fire"—kicking fallen dogs, collecting battle merit, and earning rewards in rare treasures.
The Navy, already on the back foot, faltered further when Byrnndi world's colossal cannons roared. Morale plummeted.
So much for reinforcements… instead, we've drawn stronger enemies. How do we fight this?
Every prior clash with the Hell Pirates had ended in disaster. Their wounds, physical and psychological, weighed heavily.
---
Brook vs. the Holy Horse
"Admiral Hoss, your holy light is formidable—but even it cannot purify my ghosts!" Brook's voice rang out, both mocking and proud.
The Seven-Star Sword flashed in his skeletal hand. Enwreathed in Conqueror's Haki and Ryuo, it slashed across Hoss's horn. A jagged piece of divine bone clattered away, blood spraying in the air.
"Impossible…" Admiral Hoss staggered back, flapping his wings in retreat. Terror filled his eyes as he stared at the cursed blade. Even his sacred light could not keep the invading soul energy at bay.
"Is this… a weapon greater than the Supreme Grade Swords?" he muttered. Since awakening the Unicorn form of his Mythical Zoan, he had never known such dread.
The wound should have closed instantly. Mythical beasts healed as fast as they bled. Yet the sword drank greedily, pulling his blood into its blade. Neither his holy light nor his regenerative powers could staunch the drain.
"Yohohoho! You're fortunate, Admiral. You'll be remembered as the first great sacrifice to the Seven-Star Demon Sword!" Brook's voice dripped with dark mirth as the blade pulsed crimson, hungering for another taste.
"Damn you!" Hoss gritted his teeth. Brook's combination of top-tier weaponry, three colors of Haki, and Devil Fruit mastery marked him as a monster worthy of Rocks' generation.
"I want your Devil Fruit power as a gift for my daughter," Brook taunted, eyes glowing. "Care to hand it over?"
"Come take it if you can!" Hoss roared back, holy aura blazing. He had to endure. If he lasted a single day, the Fleet Admiral and Knights of God would arrive.
---
Elsewhere, Whitebeard Newgate clashed head-on with Garp. Newgate admitted Garp's Armament Haki surpassed his own, but he had the Tremor-Tremor Fruit and Conqueror's Haki. Each man tested the other with brutal strikes, shaking the sea itself.
They hadn't fought like this in years. Now, each relished a worthy rival.
By contrast, Redfield and Shiki fought to win at any cost. Neither desired a "good fight"—they sought absolute victory, to climb over the corpses of their foes. But their opponents were titans in their own right. Without outside interference, these duels could rage for days without a victor.
Shiki cursed himself for underestimating Black Arm Zephyr. Without his upgraded swords, he'd already have been beaten down by Zephyr's overwhelming Haki. These physical masters are demons… one misstep and I'll be dragged into the sea to drown.
The realization only hardened his resolve.
---
While the Hell Pirates waged war, the Rocks Pirates clashed with the navy led by Admiral Coss Davo.
Coss Davo had begged the Celestial Dragons for the Knights of God to reinforce him. The pampered nobles refused, fearing for their protectors' safety. Instead, they sent a CP0 unit—tools to stall Rocks.
But Coss Davo knew the truth: against Rocks, CP0 was meaningless.
Defying orders, he landed his fleet on the Valley of the Gods itself, fortifying the island against the pirate onslaught. This retreat enraged the Celestial Dragons, who cursed him as a disgrace for "polluting" their holy ground with war.
At last, the nobles relented, dispatching two of their Knights.
Now Rocks faced three adversaries: Admiral Coss Davo and two junior-admiral-level Knights of God. Even he, the New World's most feared overlord, could not crush them easily.
Fortunately, the warrior monk Scorpion Dragon stepped in, locking one knight in combat.
For the first time, Rocks revealed his true strength before the world. His Conqueror's Haki swelled like a living storm, so tangible it seemed to grind the air itself. Even Coss Davo and the Knights felt their knees buckle under its weight.
This was the terror of Rocks D. Xebec—the man who sought to be king of the world.
