Luffy let out a roar, firing his "Gomu Gomu no King Kong Gun" in Fourth Gear and striking Big Mom. As always, the louder his roar, the more powerful the attack.
Big Mom's massive body was sent crashing into the shore, creating a huge crater. Yet, she stood up as if nothing happened, and her thundercloud Zeus and sun Prometheus flew to her side. While she appeared unharmed, she had actually suffered serious internal injuries. The combination of Luffy's Conqueror's Haki and Armament Haki was enough to injure even Kaido, so it was no surprise that it affected Big Mom's iron-like body.
"Mama, mama! Straw Hat boy! You have a lot of strength!" she said, a bloody grin on her face. "It seems you do have the right to be so arrogant, but you refused my tea party invitation and hurt my son! I cannot forgive you!"
Luffy, panting heavily, responded, "I'm the man who's going to become the Pirate King! I'm not going to be anyone's subordinate! If you don't like it, come at me! I'll knock you out!"
Big Mom's face grew dark, her anger boiling over. She couldn't stand being disrespected, and the Straw Hat boy had just done it to her face. She was going to kill him.
"Prometheus!" she screamed.
Prometheus, the sun spirit, immediately produced two fireballs. One attached to her head, and the other to her sword, Napoleon. Big Mom's appearance was now even more intimidating, giving off an aura of pure rage. Napoleon also grew longer, with sharp teeth appearing on its blade. She looked like she was stacking power-ups.
"Straw Hat! Die!" Big Mom's furious roar shook the sky as she swung Napoleon at Luffy.
Luffy didn't back down. He met her attack with his "Gomu Gomu no Leo Bazooka." Before their attacks even connected, the clash of their Conqueror's Haki created a powerful shockwave.
Rumble!
The sky seemed to fall as a series of purple thunderous shockwaves expanded, flattening the port and destroying a fifth of Water 7. Fortunately, the civilians had evacuated, but their homes were gone.
Luffy, however, couldn't focus on that. He kept roaring, putting every last ounce of his strength into his attack. The clash with Big Mom grew more intense with every second. If this continued, Water 7 would be completely destroyed.
"Hah!"
With a final effort, Luffy's "Leo Bazooka" successfully pushed back Napoleon and struck Big Mom's massive body, sending her flying and causing her to spit out a large amount of blood. Zeus and Prometheus were startled and tried to save her, but they were also hit by Luffy's "Gomu Gomu no Grizzly Magnum" and sent flying into the sea.
"Huff! Huff! Huff! Did I get them?"
Panting heavily, Luffy ran to the beach and stared at the calm sea. He couldn't find any sign of Big Mom, Zeus, or Prometheus. However, he had a feeling that Big Mom wouldn't just run away.
"Did she run away? That can't be right," Luffy said, frowning. He searched for a bit longer, but couldn't find them anywhere. Reluctantly, he released his Fourth Gear, a wave of exhaustion washing over him. The battle with Big Mom had been long, and maintaining Fourth Gear for so long had drained him. If it weren't for the boost he got from Ikki's medicinal baths and his Haki training, he wouldn't have been able to keep going for this long.
"I guess this counts as defeating Big Mom, right?" Luffy wondered. He had knocked her into the sea, but it didn't feel like a true victory. He felt like he hadn't fully defeated her until she couldn't fight anymore.
"Whatever, if we meet again, I'll just keep fighting until I win next time!" Luffy said, filled with confidence. He was sure he could beat her. He would defeat the Four Emperors.
It was only then that Luffy noticed the devastation around him. A huge area had been flattened and the ground was cracked. He remembered all the houses that used to be here. His fight with Big Mom had left countless people homeless and destroyed a large part of the island.
"Oh no, this is a huge problem. An apology probably won't be enough," Luffy said, scratching his head. Then he had an idea. "Hahaha! If an apology won't work, then I'll just pay for it! I just don't know if Nami will be willing to give up the gold."
Luffy was a master at cheating his own crew, and he knew that gold was probably gone for good.
He then sensed a strong presence in the port area and, filled with a renewed sense of energy, ran off to see what was happening.
Meanwhile, the civilians of Water 7, seeing that the fighting had stopped, returned to find their land razed to the ground. Those who lived there fell to the ground, crying in despair. Luffy, running too fast, didn't see any of this.
The Franky Family, who had also come to see the battle's aftermath, were shocked at the level of destruction. Luffy and Big Mom were gone, and worried about the Straw Hat ship, Franky ran toward the port.
Luffy arrived just in time to see Zephyr's attack send Wilbur flying.
"Wow! That robotic arm is so cool!" Luffy's eyes lit up, staring at Zephyr's arm in awe.
Carl appeared, picked up the exhausted Luffy, and the two flew back to the Going Merry.
"Mr. Carl, I knocked Big Mom into the sea. Does that mean I won?" Luffy asked.
"Yes, it counts," Carl said. "Whitebeard often falls asleep in the sea, too."
"Really? Hehehe, I said I could beat a Four Emperor by myself, and I did it!"
