Virtual Gladiators Part 6
"We don't want to wait any longer to see this incredible battle. So, let the countdown begin!" Jordan said quickly, while the crowd in the stands shouted with excitement and interest.
"Three... two... one... begin!"
Professor Flitwick raised his wand with impressive speed, aiming directly at his opponent. However, he paused for a moment, confused to see that Nicolas Flamel had not drawn his wand. Instead, Nicolas threw several rune-carved stones to the ground in front of him.
Flitwick, a renowned duelist and expert in Charms, recognized the pattern. Without missing a beat, he cast a Petrificus spell at Nicolas. But before the beam could hit him, the stones lit up and formed a circle around him. A magical shield rose swiftly, blocking the spell.
"Auto-defense using runes?" Flitwick murmured with interest.
Now protected, Nicolas calmly drew his wand. With precise movements, he began drawing runes in the air"each complex, spinning and floating before sinking into the ground as if absorbed by the earth. He then pulled out more stones, quickly carving them with rune enchantments and throwing them into the enchanted area.
The ground began to tremble. Rock warriors emerged: some armed with swords, others with bows, and even a few in robes, mimicking wizards.
Meanwhile, Flitwick was quickly analyzing the runes on the shield, searching for a weak point. But upon seeing the stone army rising, he acted instantly.
"Levioso!" he shouted, lifting one of the golems to use it as a mace against the others emerging from the ground. With impressive coordination, he struck them one after another, demonstrating his mastery of magical control.
However, he soon noticed that the broken pieces of the golems were reassembling, regenerating at high speed.
A small rune stone fell beside his foot. Flitwick barely had time to react before it exploded in a wave of energy that disarmed him.
"Accio!" he exclaimed, summoning his wand back as he vanished with a pop to avoid more stones falling around him.
He reappeared several meters back, just in time to see the stones transforming into chains that trapped the air where he had been seconds earlier.
From the other side of the field, Nicolas smiled as he carved new stones at an enviable speed. He threw them like he was weaving an unbreakable magical net.
"After all, they are professors," Stephen commented with a smile from the stands, sitting next to Fleur.
"What do you mean?" Fleur asked with interest.
"They're teaching while fighting. Grandpa is showing the importance of preparation"how every rune spell can be applied tactically. And Professor Flitwick is demonstrating the value of observation and quick response under pressure."
Meanwhile, Wanda was jumping with excitement.
"Go, Grandpa! You can do it! Professor Flitwick, you too!"
"Aren't you supposed to cheer for only one of them?" Jordan asked, slightly confused.
"Yes, but Professor Flitwick is our Charms teacher! I don't want him to fail me," she answered with a big grin.
"Go Professor Flamel! You too, Professor Flitwick!" added Jordan, completely forgetting he was the commentator.
Now more focused, Flitwick began systematically taking down the golems with powerful, precise spells. He observed the rune cores inside each one and destroyed them with pinpoint strikes.
"Glacius!" he shouted, freezing a group of enemies. The cold spread in a chain, crystallizing several golems.
Seeing them regenerate, he identified a small stone at the center of their torsos. With quick thinking and precise movement, he appeared to the side and yelled:
"Reducto!"
One of the golems exploded, but its remains began to pull together. Flitwick pointed directly at the rune core before it finished reassembling.
"Bombarda Maxima!"
The carved stone exploded, and the golem collapsed.
Nicolas nodded with an approving smile.
"He's analyzing and responding in real time… excellent."
Then Nicolas pulled out several black spheres with even more complex inscriptions. He threw them onto the field, where they began to absorb the remains of the destroyed golems.
"Is that…?" Jordan whispered from the booth.
Two giant golems began to take shape. Flitwick, recognizing the threat, tried to strike them before they completed their transformation. But two spheres rolled toward him, absorbing stones along the way, forming masses the size of a human.
"Reducto!" he tried to destroy them, but a magical shield blocked the attack. He had to vanish again.
He reappeared just in time to see one of the masses split open, transforming into a massive stone bear. The other became a lion. And the two giant golems finally took full form"one wielding a colossal mace and the other holding a rune-carved staff.
Flitwick, no longer smiling, shifted to an expression of pure excitement. His wand shone brightly.
"Excellent… now this is a challenge."
As Wanda watched the battle intently, she noticed something else.
"Hey, did you notice that Professor Flitwick is using the basic spells he teaches in class?" she asked quickly, barely taking her eyes off the duel.
"Now that you mention it…" Jordan replied, thoughtful. "He started with the spells we learned in first year… and has been leveling up little by little."
"Grandpa's also using basic runes. They're the same ones he taught when he gave that class at Hogwarts," Wanda added excitedly.
Both turned simultaneously toward Stephen, who, sensing their stares, sighed softly. Immediately, a microphone appeared floating in front of him.
"They're both professors," he said in a calm but firm tone. "So even in the middle of a spectacle like this, they're still teaching. They want everyone to learn something. And since this is just a friendly duel, they're not using their full power."
Stephen returned the mic to the air as Jordan nodded.
"I see…" he murmured, impressed.
Meanwhile, Professor Flitwick closed his eyes, focusing deeply. The golems were approaching, ready to attack.
Suddenly, Flitwick opened his eyes and raised his wand.
"Expecto Patronum!"
A majestic white eagle emerged from his wand, accompanied by a radiant shield that unleashed a wave of magical energy. The golems and stone creatures were pushed back with force, unable to withstand the purity of the spell.
Taking advantage of the opening, Flitwick vanished with a soft pop and reappeared right behind Nicolas Flamel. With quick movements, he drew a rune on the ground, right at the edge of the magical shield protecting his opponent. He had intentionally left a small area uncovered.
As he raised his wand to cast an offensive spell, a seemingly harmless stone next to his foot suddenly glowed. From it, ropes burst out and quickly wrapped around him, preventing him from moving.
Even so, Flitwick did not release his wand. He kept his aim steady, smiling confidently.
"Looks like it's a tie "commented Nicolas with a cheerful laugh.
"Although it's obvious you held back... "Flitwick replied with an equally wide grin". Still, to tie with a legend like you… it's, as the students would say, pretty awesome.
In the stands, Jordan was already on his feet, waving his arms in excitement.
"That was a battle between two of the most powerful wizards Hogwarts has ever seen! Did you hear that? Our professors are absolute beasts! Hahaha!
"But… I wanted to see more of Grandpa's fighting style… "Wanda said, puffing out her cheeks.
"Let's give thanks to both our professors, who agreed to this exhibition duel and still used it to teach us all something new "Jordan added quickly, ignoring Wanda as the two wizards left the coliseum chatting calmly.
The stands rumbled with excitement. The applause didn't stop as Jordan took back control of the microphone.
"Alright, now we move on to the final battle of the day. We hope it's just as awesome as the previous ones, right?!
The crowd responded with a roar of enthusiasm.
"Don't worry, I can assure you it'll be a spectacular fight. And do you know why? Because our next fighter… is one of Stephen's favorite students. The only one who learned a completely different type of magic from everyone else.
Jordan grinned mischievously.
"She might seem a little odd, but she's charming in her own way. Let's give a warm welcome to Luna Lovegood!
Luna walked in calmly, a small black dragon perched on her shoulder. She smiled softly and moved her head to the rhythm of music only she seemed to hear.
"And now, the next participant. His brothers are definitely going to tease him… win or lose. Which is honestly kind of sad.
The audience laughed.
"The youngest of six brothers, member of the most troublesome trio in Hogwarts… Give it up for Ronald Weasley!
Ron entered the coliseum looking a bit nervous. He wasn't just up against Luna"everyone knew that no matter how peculiar she was, she was terrifyingly talented. As Jordan had said, whether he won or lost, his brothers were definitely going to tease him.
"He's doomed already. You can tell he's regretting this "said Wanda, amused.
"And he hasn't even raised his wand yet! "Jordan added, as the crowd laughed along with them.
"Just start already! "Ron shouted angrily, hearing them". And where the hell is Harry? He should be here supporting me! "he added quickly, scanning the crowd for his friend.
