"I must say, My lady, you've been a terrible student," Ella declared, setting down her teacup with an exaggerated sigh.
Isabella looked up from the ball planning papers spread across the small table in the tea room. "What do you mean?" she asked innocently.
"You know exactly what I mean," Ella said, pointing an accusing finger at her friend. "I gave you very detailed instructions on how to seduce your husband, and you haven't given me a single report on how it went. Not one word!"
Isabella felt her cheeks warm. "I don't need to report everything to you," she said, trying to sound casual.
"Oh, so there is something to report! Great!" Ella said triumphantly.
Isabella tried to keep a straight face, but a grin slowly spread across her lips despite her best efforts. "Perhaps," she said carefully, "one might say the mission was successful."
"Successful?" Ella leaned forward eagerly. "How successful? I need details, Isabella!"
