Micheal walked up to the twins.
They turned to face him,
"Hey, what's up?" Micheal asked, trying to sound casual.
"Hi" They said in unison as they sized Micheal from head to toe.
His short hair was disheveled and scattered, his black eyes which normally had an uncaring glint was scanning the two with an interested look.
"I'm Micheal, I heard you guys talking about the Ground of Awakening and I just got here, I wonder if I can tag along?" Micheal asked going straight to the point.
"You are heading there too? Of course, you can tag along," the twin with the black hair said, sounding surprisingly welcoming.
Micheal thought it was going to be difficult trying to tag along with these two beauties.
"Aina!" Kaida, chimed in, her voice cold but melodious.
The contrast between the warmth of the first twin's words and the chill of Aina's tone was striking.
The girl with the black hair was Auna and the one with the white was Kinda.
Two names that had same vowel sounds to it.
Well, Micheal knew their identities now.
It can't be that easy tagging along after all
Micheal though looking at Kaida who seemed cold.
"He is just tagging along Kaida, do you have to always be so cold?" Aina said to her sister feeling dissatisfied.
Kaida didn't reply and just stared coldly at Micheal.
"Dann, what's up with that look, I'm just tagging along sister."
Micheal didn't say anything to Kaida he just smiled at her like he was saying "I'm a good guy you know. "
Scaring me with stared? Keep dreaming!
"You can tag along, she's always like that." Aina turned to Micheal and said.
"So you have a map to the Ground of Awakening? Thats even better, it saves us a lot of stress" Micheal stared at Kaida seeing that she was trying to say something, he didn't want to miss his chance so he just cut her off.
"Yeah, Kaida open the map, let's set out" Aina said
"Hmph" Kaida stared at Micheal but didn't say anything more, his smile was annoying.so she just focused on the map.
As they journeyed to the Ground of Awakening, Micheal discovered that many were also heading there through the crowd's general movement.
It didn't take long and Micheal was able to synchronize well with the twins, they were around the same age after all.
But the difference between the twins were as clear as daylight.
While, Aina's constant chatter and jokes filled the air, Kaida hasd an unyielding silence.
Micheal found himself growing more comfortable around Aina, though, which was bound to happen due to her personality.
But whenever he tried to include Kaida in the conversation, she was just silent and didn't answer.
He glanced at her occasionally, trying to read her expression, but her face remained indifferent.
Feeling Micheal's awkwardness Aina just whispered to him, " she is always like that."
Micheal just shrugged, he didn't really mind.
"Wow, so magnificent" Micheal's train of thoughts was brought to a stop by Aina's enthusiastic voice.
"Is this the ground of awakening?" Micheal asked with confusion.
"Yeah, welcome to The Ground of Awakening." Auna replied.
What Ground of Awakening? Tsk, this was a mountain.
It wasn't a ground, but a mountain, right in the middle of the city, and it felt so magical.
The mountain was tall, easily the tallest building in the city, and it almost reached the sky.
But the weird thing was that unless you got to the middle of the city, you wouldn't see this structure from afar, which should have been possible. It was as if the mountain was hidden from view, shrouded in a mysterious veil that only lifted when you reached the heart of the city.
As they approached the foot of the mountain, Micheal's eyes widened in awe at the sea of people gathered there.
But it was what he saw next that made his eyes almost pop out of his head.
"What are those?" Micheal asked with wide eyes as he pointed at the people on the foot of the mountain.
"Powers." Auna replied excitedly.
"What do you mean by powers?" Micheal asked.
"Spirit weapons, what we are here for in the first place." Aina replied.
He gazed in wonder at a guy who had awakened an axe that could retract and extend with swift precision.
A sword and a bow that seemed to be made of pure energy, and a staff, these were all weapons people could summon at anytime to fight.
Micheal could feel the excitement building up inside him.
He had never seen anything like this before.
Aina nudged him forward. "Come on, let's see what we're capable of," she said.
The amount of people at the foot of the mountain was enormous, there was over a 50,000 people there, he didn't even know how he will find Alex.
So he just sat down cross legged like everybody else.
"I hope I awaken something special, and higher than dad will expect" Aina said with a rare serious emotion on her face.
"Something special and higher?" Micheal asked confused.
Was there a ranking system he didn't know of?
"You don't know anything about what you are going to be doing here?" Aina asked looking at Micheal strangely.
"Painfully, I don't" Micheal answered feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Ok here is a quick summarize of what my dad told me, there is ranking system, which depends on the type of spirit qi you are able to grasp" Aina said
"Eh? What spirit qi? I don't know anything about that" Micheal asked feeling more confused.
Aina sighed in exasperaton, "You really don't know anything about Elyria, close your eyes and try to sense your surroundings, you will be able to feel a wisp of energy, it's the source of everything in Elyria."
Micheal closed his eyes and tried to sense his surroundings as instructed and surprisingly he could sense it, It was invisible to the naked eyes but it was visible when he focused.
He opened his eyes and looked at Aina in surprise
"You sensed it?" Kaida who has been silent all these while said in stunned surprise.
Aina who was still talking opened her mouth in surprise, "did you really sense it?" She asked.
"Yeah, is anything the problem?" Micheal asked feeling the surprise in their tone.
"You... You ...Really did sense it?" Aina asked again while stuttering.
Micheal was speechless, what was wrong with these two?
