The wind outside hit his face as for the first time in what felt like a really long time although it was just less than a day, the winds of nature made his breath a sigh of relief. The trees local to Pyro hit him with nostalgia as he was no longer surrounded by walls made out of crystals causing him to lie down with his back to the wall.
In just a day, he had been back at school with his peers for their end of semester examination, had the exam ruined by Emberfall, discovered his teacher and mentor was an Ashborne, unsurprisingly betrayed by Angus, fell into a spatial crack, into an essence vein, had a complete synchronization and awakening the annoying Riven, met an odd man named kop, got his innate ability called boundless, broke into rank 2 and with boundless became peak rank 2. He had his first true battle alone where he wasn't scared or cautious due to running out of essence but took down several peak rank 2 disasters and what's more even got their skills to go with them.
All these thoughts slowly ran through his mind as he slowly raised his hands in a clenched fist: 'With this strength, I will rescue Roy, Nicole and if I can't do that the best, I can do is avenge them' he thought to himself silently as Riven's voice broke him out of his daze:
"Hey, did you really call me annoying…" it began to rant as Denwen just rolled over covering his ears, not that it was effective any way as Riven spoke directly into his mind.
"Wow you really must have missed the outside so badly" Kop said stepping out of the dungeon to see Denwen rolling about on the ground causing him to laugh.
"Well, no one really enjoys being stuck in one of those" he said as he looked around before nodding his head with a slight smile:
"Looks like we are some ways off from the village I was about to rest in when the gate open, but it is still the closest to us. Moving at full speed we should get there early enough" he said pointing in a direction as Denwen looked only to see endless rows of trees that had adapted to the fiery terrain of Pyro.
"So how are we going to do this, are you going to wrap me with your essence so I don't die from the sheer force of your full speed" Denwen raised a teasing grin as he looked at Kop causing him to regret his words as he saw a similar grin come up Kop's face:
"Nah, that would just be a reckless use of essence, so you would just carry me" Kop said yawning as he fell to the floor.
"Huh" Denwen exclaimed in shock.
"Just keep heading east from where the sun rises from, by night fall we should be there…" he said with a sleepy voice as he suddenly passed out.
"Hahahahahahaha" Riven burst out laughing mysteriously
"Hey old man, wake up" Denwen said shaking Kop who was truly passed out as he muttered out a single sentence in a sleepy voice:
"A debt is a promise" this caused Denwen's eye to twitch as he shouted:
"Don't mess with me" the birds at the tree top flew away from the sound of his voice.
---
A few hours later, Denwen was seen dragging along a crystal-based cart without a roof, Kop lying within not a care in the world as they walked meanwhile Riven was still laughing his ass out as he stayed within the cart beside Cart:
"You know it's been about a few hours, how about you cut it out" he spoke in a very annoyed tone.
Riven heard this and used his wing to wipe out the water coming out his eyes: "What, you should have seen you face, 'A debt is a promise', hahaha" it mimicked Kop and began to laugh once more as Denwen rolled his eyes focusing on the path ahead.
"If only he knew who I was, he wouldn't be so audacious" he muttered remembering a past he would have preferred to forget.
---
The sun was beginning to set, Denwen had stopped moving and set up a campfire roasting a bird he had sniped with a crystal shard, for the fire, using his survival lessons he learnt from instructor Dame about making fire from scratch he struggled for a bit to make it Riven being a nuisance as usual causing him to lose focus at times failing to catch the sparks within the dry wood.
After a period of torture, he had at least skinned the bird with a sharp crystal, although without seasoning his hunger made his mouth water as he saw the meat getting ready but just as he was about to begin eating an insanely loud stomach rumbling sound was heard from within the cart causing Denwen's face to pale slowly turning around to see Kop's hug frame rising as he scratched his head:
"Meat, I smell meat" he muttered sniffing the air as he slowly opened his eyes to see the bird over the fire, his eyes literally reflected the roasting bird as his mouth began to water.
"Hey old man, go back to sleep" Denwen suddenly shouted in anger, his veins visible on his head unable to contain his rage. But Kop, he didn't stop he just moved like he was controlled on auto pilot as he swiftly moved, trampling over Denwen in the process and grabbed the bird.
Before he could chomp down on it Denwen spoke freezing him:
"Eat that and you owe me a debt" he spoke with a grin as he watched Kop slowly drop his hand.
"Hehehe, thought as much" he laughed evilly as he stood up dusting himself, Kop looked at him:
"You are so vile, when did you learn to be this rude to your benefactor" he said with a pained expression causing Denwen to scowl:
"Huh, just shut up and hand me my meal" he said with an outstretched arm, causing Kop to look at him then back at the meat, at least twice:
"Eh, just use up on of your debts then" he said with a smile and threw the bird into his mouth.
"Noooo….." Denwen screamed in so much pain and frustration as Riven was rolling all over the ground in laughter:
"Hahahaha, just perfect, you have found your match, Hahahaha" he laughed hysterically.
Sigh, and so my dear readers, the story of these two in an odd relationship with each other has only just begun
