Chapter 7 - First kiss

Dormitory C wasn't as bad as Raine expected. The structures were really nice and neat.

The buildings looked more like those fancy apartment complexes in the city—tall, smooth walls painted grey and black with large windows. The floors were clean, the hallway lights soft and warm. Even the doors had little silver numbers that looked expensive.

Inside, the dorm smelled faintly of mint and lemon, probably from the cleaning products they used. There was a common room with a long couch, a TV mounted on the wall, and a snack bar in the corner with a coffee machine and mini fridge.

Raine adjusted the strap of her bag and walked deeper into the hallway, eyes searching for Room C-14. Her disguise still held—baggy hoodie, her chest bound tight under layers, messy short hair sticking out under a cap. No one had looked at her twice since arrival.

She breathed out in relief, her boots tapping quietly against the polished floor.

But as she turned the corner, someone hit her shoulder

"My bad " he muttered locking his seductive eyes to hers and moving closer to her now

Raine walked back with each of his approaching step. She was surprised

"Hope you don't mind" he smiled and grabbed her arm and yanked her hard.

Before she could protest her back hit the cold wall with a soft thud. His strong hand pinned her wrist above her head, and another gripped her chin, forcing her to look up.

Then his lips crashed into hers.

Her heart stopped.

What the hell—?

Her eyes widened. The guy kissing her wasn't just any guy.

He was gorgeous.

Messy blonde hair. Sharp jawline. Tall and muscular with muscles that pressed against her chest. His scent hit her—clean like soap and rain. Warm.

His lips were hot. And he was Skilled.

And Raine… forgot to breathe.

She froze, her mind blank. Her thoughts screamed, ' What the fuck is happening?!'

Then just as suddenly, he pulled away. He couldn't understand why and what made him kiss a boy! It was as if the moon goddess was playing some jokes on him.

He stared at her with narrowed eyes, his voice low and teasing. "Thought you were someone else."

Raine's heart pounded so hard she felt dizzy. SOMEONE ELSE?

The guy smirked. "You're new. What's your name?"

She cleared her throat, trying to sound rough like a boy. "Ra... Rowan ." she stuttered biting her lips.

He raised a brow, his smirk growing wider as he tilted his head. " I'm Cole. Wait… don't tell me that was your first kiss?"

Raine's eyes darted away, her cheeks burning. Her back still pressed to the wall, and her body was frozen like ice. She couldn't even lie. Not when her lips were still tingling.

She didn't answer, but the way her lashes lowered and her mouth stayed slightly open told him everything.

Cole leaned in again, his voice softer now. Deep. Teasing, but not mean. "Damn. It really was."

Whether he's becoming gay or not. He's got to make the fist kiss of this desperate Virgin mouth worth it.

He didn't feel Rowan was a boy. The energy was feminine.

Raine swallowed hard. Her heart was beating so fast, she felt like it might jump out of her chest.

He leaned closer until his breath brushed against her cheek. "I'll make it worth it then."

Her eyes snapped to his, wide and unsure.

And then—he kissed her again.

But this time… it wasn't fast or rough.

It was slow. Deep. Like he was showing her what a real kiss was supposed to feel like. His lips moved gently against hers, patient, like he had all the time in the world. One of his hands stayed pressed to the wall beside her head, while the other lightly gripped her waist.

Raine felt everything.

The heat spreading through her chest.

The way her knees went weak.

The soft hum that escaped her throat without permission.

She kissed him back—clumsily at first, but he didn't laugh. He angled his head, guiding her mouth with his like he was teaching her. His tongue brushed lightly over her bottom lip, and she gasped. He took the chance to deepen the kiss, pulling her in, stealing every breath she had.

His hand on her waist squeezed gently, pulling her closer.

Raine's fingers twitched at her sides. She wanted to touch him, but her arms were trapped between them and her brain had shut down. All she could feel was him

When he finally pulled back, she was breathless. Her chest rose and fell quickly, lips parted, eyes dazed.

He looked at her like she was something interesting. Like a puzzle he suddenly wanted to solve.

"Not bad for a first," he whispered, his thumb brushing across her cheek like a feather.

Raine couldn't speak.

He smirked again and stepped back, hands slipping into his pockets like nothing had happened.

"I'm Cole, by the way," he said, winking before turning around and walking off down the hallway.

Raine slid down the wall, her legs jelly.

What the hell just happened?

And why… why did she want him to do it again?

"Are you gay?" She screamed but he was already gone and didn't hear her.

First day in dorm and someone already stole her first kiss.

She picked herself up and continued her search for her room. Soon enough she saw it.

The metal handle felt cold as she pushed the door open.

The first thing she saw was a bed by the wall—already taken. A duffel bag sat open on the floor, clothes spilling out like someone had thrown them in and given up.

The second thing she saw—because it was impossible to miss—was a guy leaning against the window, smoking a cigarette.

He turned slowly when the door opened, letting out smoke as his sharp eyes looked her over.

"You're smaller than I thought."

Raine's body tensed. "You've been thinking about me?"

He smirked. "Not really. Just expected my roommate to be someone I'd have to kill in their sleep. I was devastated when I was told I hand roommate. I love staying alone."

She dropped her bag on the empty bed and looked straight at him.

He was tall, all muscle, with dark hair that almost reacher his neck. His eyes were cold and sharp.

"You should have layer a complaint" she said, unzipping her bag, trying not to look nervous and obvious.

He laughed quietly and walked toward her with a hand out.

"Killian."

Raine froze for a second. She didn't expect a handshake. She was ready for a fight.

Still, she took his hand. His grip was strong, and his palm was rough.

"Rowan," she replied, meeting his gaze. "Hope we get along."

Killian smiled slightly. "Welcome to Sector C, Rowan."

He let go of her hand, kicked his bag aside, and flopped on the bed like he owned the place.

Raine turned to unpack her things, but she could feel his eyes still watching her.

She had watched the surviving clip of her room mate and asked around about him.

Killian came from a powerful family known for assassinations. He passed the first trial by killing other candidates.

Now he was watching her with a quiet smirk, probably wondering how easy it would be to snap her like a stick.

Raine's hands trembled. How was she supposed to change clothes when this guy wouldn't stop staring?

"Don't worry," Killian said. "I'm not gay."

She bit her lip. "Good for you."

Honestly, she was hoping he was. That would've made things way easier.

Gay men are kind to women. So he heard.

Her body felt sore, especially from the chest bands she had worn since the day before.

She took out her inhaler and used it three times.

"Do you want the bed by the window?" Killian asked.

"No, I'm fine. Thanks," she said, surprised by his politeness.

He just smiled and laid on his back, staring at the ceiling like he had nothing to worry about.

Raine tried to focus on her bag, but her hands wouldn't stop shaking. This place was deadly, and she didn't know if her biggest danger was outside—or sharing a room with Killian.

She forced herself to breathe slowly. If

She unzipped a secret part of her bag and pulled out a small knife.

Just in case.

As soon as her fingers touched it, Killian spoke again.

"Smart."

Her spine stiffened. "What?"

He sat up slightly. "Keeping a blade close. Most recruits get killed early because they trust their roommates. But not you."

His eyes were dark and curious. "You're already thinking ahead."

Raine didn't reply.

But she was surprised by how clearly he had seen her, even when she tried to hide the knife with her body.

Killian chuckled and leaned back again. "I like you, Rowan. Try not to die too soon."

She tightened her grip on the knife, then slid it under her pillow.

"Same to you."

But she still wondered — if Killian was that strong, why was he in Sector C? Shouldn't he be in A?

A knock on the door interrupted them.

Raine turned to Killian. He raised an eyebrow, silently telling her to get the door.

She walked toward it, shoulders straight, trying to look strong.

She opened the door to see a curvy girl standing in the hallway.

The boy standing next to her leaned in and whispered,

"Someone's already asking for you. You need to come with me. Now."

Raine's breath caught. "Asking for who?"

Behind her, Killian let out a low, bored sound.

"Well, that was fast. You don't have to go. Probably just someone who likes your pretty face. They just want to have a very pretty boyfriend they can brag about . Trust me "

Raine looked back at the boy. "Then I'm going."
