Although Dai Mubai had been thoroughly beaten by Ye Wen in the past, his recent enhancements hadn't improved his temperament.

Moreover, no one had ever dared to scold him so brazenly throughout his life.

This immediately ignited Dai Mubai's fury. Disregarding all else and adhering to Shrek Academy's "fine tradition" of not tolerating mediocrity, he lunged forward without hesitation.

Dai Mubai charged in.

The rest of the Shrek group followed suit.

Xue Beng and his entourage were utterly defeated.

"Tsk! With such meager skills, you dare to act tough? Go back and train some more, kid."

Dai Mubai spat disdainfully on the ground, sneering as he spoke.

Xue Beng and his group looked pitiful. Their once luxurious uniforms were torn to shreds, and their faces were bruised and swollen, making them look like battered pigs.

Seeing this, Flender and the others frowned. It wasn't because they disapproved of Dai Mubai beating them—it was because the students of the Tian Dou Imperial Academy displayed shockingly poor quality.

Although their cultivation levels were generally lower than those of Dai Mubai and his group, their numerical advantage should have prevented such a crushing defeat.

Additionally, while Flender had taught Dai Mubai and the others that avoiding trouble was a sign of mediocrity...

He had also emphasized that arrogance was acceptable only if backed by sufficient strength. Clearly, Dai Mubai and the others hadn't listened. Moreover, having spent so long in the countryside, Flender and his group failed to realize the gravity of their actions in an academy where even a random brick could hit a baron.

At this moment, Dai Mubai still felt unsatisfied and wanted to attack again. However, seeing how badly Xue Beng and his group had already been beaten, Flender quickly intervened, fearing further injuries.

Establishing dominance was one thing, but drawing blood would be excessive.

Xue Beng's body trembled, looking like someone who had been thoroughly intimidated. But no one noticed the cold malice brewing in his eyes.

After struggling for a moment, Xue Beng managed to stand up with the help of others.

"You... you dare cause trouble at our Tian Dou Imperial Academy! This is an insult to the empire! Just wait—you'll regret this!"

Flender remained unfazed. Though he ran a struggling, unlicensed Shrek Academy in Soto City, even the city mayor showed him respect. Over time, Flender had come to understand the essence of nobility: might makes right. He sneered:

"You're good at throwing around accusations, but you're nothing but trash. If you've got the guts, call your teachers over—I'd like to see what they can do to me."

No sooner had he spoken than a powerful, aged voice rang out:

"What's going on here? Why all the commotion?"

The next moment, a middle-aged man dressed in sleek silver attire appeared. Though he appeared to be around Flender's age, his imposing presence was unmistakable.

Upon seeing him, the beaten noble students cried out for help, clamoring loudly and causing the newcomer to frown deeply.

This was none other than Sun Buyu, the relatively minor character serving as the headmaster of the Tian Dou Imperial Academy.

Clearly, Sun Buyu held little regard for spoiled brats like Xue Beng and his cohorts. However, as the academy's director, he couldn't openly side with outsiders. Thus, he chose to ignore Xue Beng and his group.

Sun Buyu locked eyes with Flender .

"Greetings, everyone. I am Sun Buyu, the headmaster of the Tian Dou Imperial Academy. May I ask the purpose of your visit?"

Seeing that Sun Buyu didn't dwell on the earlier altercation, Flender relaxed slightly. After all, this man's cultivation level was no less than his own. As a speed-attack type, Flender wasn't afraid of a confrontation, but the others would have suffered greatly. Therefore, Flender calmly explained:

"We're here to meet Qin Ming. However, these students from your academy accused us of being beggars, which led to some conflict."

While explaining their intentions, Flender subtly shifted the blame for the altercation onto Xue Beng and his group, implying that they hadn't come to stir up trouble intentionally. This explanation visibly eased Sun Buyu's concerns.

Qin Ming, naturally, had already informed the academy of Shrek's arrival. In the story's lore, Qin Ming was the second-fastest individual in the entire Douluo Continent to reach the Soul Emperor level, making him highly respected within the Tian Dou Imperial Academy despite his relatively modest title.

(A/N: Though it's unclear how his two yellow, three purple, and one black soul rings justified such a claim, this was simply another example of the author contradicting their own worldbuilding.)

Sure enough, upon hearing Qin Ming's name, Sun Buyu's demeanor instantly shifted from indifference to respect. The two parties exchanged pleasantries, and the Shrek group was warmly invited to meet the three Elders.

As for Xue Beng and his group, they were completely ignored—as if they didn't exist—despite their earlier cries of distress.

Only after the Shrek group left did Xue Beng allow the venom in his eyes to surface.

"So, this is the Shrek Academy that produced Qin Ming, huh? Looks like they've got some skill. All the more reason to ensure they don't stay in our academy. Hmph, just wait—you'll regret crossing me!"

Xue Beng's vengeful nature was something his followers knew all too well.

However, getting involved with Qin Ming and the Elders—who were closely tied to the Crown Prince—wasn't something they dared risk. After offering a few half-hearted attempts to dissuade him, they quickly made excuses and dispersed like frightened birds.

Meanwhile, in a secluded garden within the Tian Dou Imperial Academy—

Though Dugu Bo disliked formalities, he suppressed his usual inclinations to attend this apprentice ceremony for the sake of his reputation and to help Ye Wen establish himself properly in the Douluo Continent.

However, before the official start of the ceremony, Dugu Bo preferred to avoid disturbances from outsiders. For someone like him, who cared little for fame or flattery, the sycophantic behavior of nobles was utterly repulsive.

Of course, Ye Wen felt the same way.

Thus, along with Huo Yu'er—who was equally bored and unwilling to leave Ye Wen's side—the four of them retreated to a rarely visited garden within the academy. They passed the time by enjoying afternoon tea.

"Ah Wen, ah!"

Huo Yu'er picked up a slice of cake and fed it directly into Ye Wen's mouth.

Looking at the overly sweet dessert, Ye Wen had already consumed nearly an entire large cake during this afternoon tea session. His mouth felt overwhelmingly sugary.

But seeing Huo Yu'er's seemingly cheerful yet subtly menacing expression, Ye Wen knew he had done something wrong and accepted this "sweet punishment" willingly.

After washing down the sweetness with a sip of bitter tea, Ye Wen sighed helplessly:

"Yu'er, I know I was wrong. I really can't eat anymore—please spare me."

Huo Yu'er continued to smile, but her words carried no warmth:

"Do you really know you were wrong? Will you dare do it again?"

"I won't, I won't! I'll never dare again."

"And if you ever abandon me to face danger alone again, how will you punish yourself?"

This question revealed that she hadn't forgiven him yet. Ye Wen sighed in resignation.
