There was silence on the line. Jerry nodded to himself, even though she couldn't see it. "So… yeah. I'll let you be. I'll stay out of your way. I'll mind my business."
He reached for the screen, about to end the call when, suddenly, Rebecca's voice broke the silence again.
"Wait."
Jerry's hand froze.
"I… I think we should see each other in person," Rebecca said, her voice softer this time—not cold, not angry, but unsure. "Just once. I want to look you in the eyes when I say everything I have to say."
Jerry blinked, stunned for a moment. "You want to… see me?"
"Yes," she replied quietly. "I think we owe each other that much, at least."
There was something different in her tone. Not forgiveness. Not reconciliation. But maybe… closure.
Jerry didn't respond right away. He just nodded slowly, his chest heavy with emotions he hadn't fully sorted yet. "Alright," he finally said. "Just tell me the time and place."
