The female shopkeeper looked at her child trembling all over with tears. Her heart ached too, and tears fell down along with her child's. She held her child tightly, as if cradling the most precious treasure in the world, attempting to use her body to shield her daughter, protecting her under her not-so-strong wings.
"Do you think I'm dead so you can kill someone right in front of me? Coming to Holland has really mellowed my temper; I've almost forgotten who I used to be." Xu Ke twisted his neck and said with a hint of self-mockery in his tone.
"Not only will I kill someone in front of you, I'll kill you too." The man arrogantly pointed at Xu Ke and then ran his thumb lightly across his own neck as a sign of provocation, a provocation that comes with the cost of life.
Xu Ke looked outside through the large glass window of the flower shop. The wide street had almost no pedestrians, and the shop across the street had a big "Closed" sign on it.
