Haitang Mountain.
Chen Shaohu was sitting outside the house, reading under the moonlight. Occasionally, he would look up toward the depths of Haitang Mountain, the direction his fourth brother returned from each night. Seeing no sign of him, he lowered his head again.
The night was quiet.
Aside from the sound of the wind, there was only the soft rustling of pages being turned.
Reading broadens one's knowledge and wisdom. When the mind is unsettled, immersing oneself in a book can clear away distracting thoughts, making time almost imperceptible.
Back in the Black Prison, Chen Shaohu had longed to read.
But there were no such conditions then; he could only pester his fourth brother to tell him stories and teach him principles.
Now, he could finally read to his heart's content.
Yet this evening, he couldn't quite maintain focus.
"I wonder how things are going on Fourth Brother's side."
